  1. And to encourage spending more money. Bunch of enablers Grrrr.
  2. Hahahahaha! Another one hooked! I am not a machinist by trade, but you know what? It's FUN! You can do a lot with an X2, you can do a little more with an X3. I'm considering CNC'ing mine. Why? Just because.
  3. The "Left" needs death. The "Left" needs tragedy. The "Left" feeds off of others' misery. Anyone who thinks the DemoRat party actually gives a crap about their special interest groups isn't thinking. These special interest groups are simply tools to help further the acquisition of power to the DemoRats. When those groups are no longer useful they are jettisoned. Want an example? Moose limbs take priority over gays in their talking points over this horrendous act in Orlando.
  4. Having recently installed two Rough Justice triggers into my rifles, I now have two complete trigger groups sitting on my bench doing nothing. It's appalling just how bad the stock triggers have become, so what can I do about it? Does anyone make a jig to smith these stock triggers and bring them into some semblance of respectability? Even better, anyone want to show me how to smith these triggers? I've polished one trigger group using a Dremel and rouge. It didn't do much.
  5. Yeah, I really like the AP M-lok handguard. Very strong, very lightweight. Handsome to boot.
  6. I thought I was done for the year. Not so. Aero made me an offer I couldn't refuse. First, they had their "blem" AR15 lower for $63, so I got one not intending to build quickly, but just to have. The blem is one letter in the SN isn't fully anodized. Then, AP offered on sale an M4E upper with a 16" barrel and their M-lok free float. Had to have that. Then their bcg and the charging handle. Well, I had to take advantage of their offers. Months ago I picked up several of the AR Stoner LPK on sale at Midway. These were customizable. So I bought the Geisselle G2S trigger. I like this trigger. Two stage, very light break. Reminds me of a real good M1 trigger. It's not perfect but I'd buy it again, and for $140 on sale it is head and shoulders above most other off the rack triggers I've shot. Got a Magpul SL adjustable buttstock with a Stoner kit of extension, spring, end plate, castle nut and buffer, and finished it off with the new Magpul adjustable sights. Both the front and rear (windage only) sights have very fine adjustments. Not sure I like them yet. I'm so used to the KAC iron sights. It all went together easily enough, only problem was installing the hammer. The hammer spring is so stiff it took a lot of effort to get it into place. Otherwise, it shot beautifully. Only put 50 rounds thru it before a bad thunderstorm rolled in. Perfect function, no FTF, FTE, cases all thrown into a little pile at 3:30. Perfect. I really like Aero equipment. It is very good, reasonably priced especially when it's on sale, and it plain works.
  7. Shooter's Pro Shop had the 69 grain Nosler BTHP "blems" on sale for $13.95/100. My rifle can't tell they're blems. Got 1000.
  8. First time in many years I have seen AA2520 for sale. Powder Valley has it, as well as AA2230 and AA#2. Check it out.
  9. A good education is expensive, but stupidity and ignorance is more costly.
  10. Very nice! Those AP M5 uppers with matching M-LOK handguards are the nutz. We need more coon-asses here. Too many Texans.
  11. AeroPrecisionUSA had a 15% off site-wide sale over the weekend. I thought I'd try the new 2-stage Geissele trigger for my next build.
  12. "Overgassed" is the first thing most "experts" say is the problem. It is an almost meaningless gesture without having more information. My first suggestion is make sure you are using quality ammo. Get some Federal Gold Medal Match 168 BTHP. Adjust your gas block as per it's instructions. They probably say something like "screw the adjustment screw all the way in, then back it out 1 1/2 turns." Load single round, shoot, adjust screw out until bcg locks back. Then begin loading two rounds to ensure cycling. If you cannot get it to cycle under those conditions, then it is not the gas system (unless the gas block is mis-aligned). Begin checking other systems, and MAKE ONE AND ONLY ONE CHANGE AT A TIME!!! Be patient. You'll eventually find the problem if you systematically check each system one component at a time.
  13. AP's newest bcg. I like the juxtaposition of emblems. (yes, it's a big word but this group can handle it )
  14. Mine new bcg has the "A" on it. It lines up perfectly with the "A" on the upper. It looks cool.
  15. That's interesting, I just installed a new AeroprecisionUSA 308AR bcg and it functioned flawlessly in my M5E upper. BA is Aero now after their recent purchase. I wonder if you got an "early" model?
  16. BTW, overall weight is 7.0 lbs without magazine. Not bad for a 308AR.
  17. Finally, finally, SUCCESS! Took the TNArms out to the range yesterday with the new Aeroprecision bcg. Over 100 rounds, perfect function. Threw all the cases out at 3:30 with quite a bit of force and fortunately, they are almost pristine with minimal deformation (I'll have to fine tune the Syrac gas block now). The SLR mini-compensator worked great. By that, I mean the handling characteristics were such that I never noticed any muzzle flip or rise. Overall recoil is a bit more forceful than what I expected, but not bad at all (yes, compensators don't reduce recoil, I'm just mentioning it.) Accuracy was very good, and it can only improve. I compared my reloads (42.8 grains of Match Rifle, 168 BTHP Nosler, LC 1x-fired cases, WIN LR primers) to some Federal 168 BTHP match ammo. There's room for improvement but it's a good beginning. This is a very good combination of parts. I never had a 16" barrel before, and I really like it. Okay, on to the next project (can't wait to post it here ).
  18. I'm sorry I didn't win, but I'm not sorry to contribute to the cause. Hope it turns out well.
  19. Gee, if a minor phrase on a port cover can cause controversy, what would this do?
  20. Damn you. That is something that can't be unseen.
  21. Dave and I talked it over, and I'm sending back the whole bcg on his dime. I'll replace it with an AeroPrecision bcg just because it's an AP upper. Absolutely no fault or complaints with Dave. He stands behind his equipment. His bcg works with most other's rifles, he has patiently worked with me at length, and as I've said, his machining is beautiful. I just happened to get a bcg that was finicky with my collection of equipment.
  22. I swapped out the bolts only. dWilson bolt carrier plus Hardened Arms bolt... perfect function, shot great. Swapped out the bolts so I had the dWilson bolt back inside the dWilson bolt carrier... jams/no ejection. Okay, the problem is localized to the bolt.
  23. Hey, this thread got me to thinking, anyone have the dimensions for a 7.62x51 case gauge? I'll try my hand at making one (more likely two or three with mistakes.)
  24. I really didn't want to keep switching out the bcg because the one in my Maten functions so well I'd just prefer to leave that one alone. Instead, I searched everywhere until I finally found some in-stock spare bolt parts. Fulton Armory had spare ejector springs, extractors and extractor spring/donuts. This is going to be painstaking, but I'll proceed by changing parts on the dWilson bcg one and only one part at a time, starting with the ejector spring. I totally agree with SS that the dWilson machining work is superb, and the nitride coating is beautiful. I want to see these things working for all who buy them.
  25. If it is any help, I had to use a paint stripping gun to heat my Aero Precision M5 upper to get the Ballistic Advantage (Aero's own brand) barrel to slide in. Very tight fit.
