  1. It isn't that good. Had it at "The Fort" outside of Denver years ago. Specialty item on the menu. Marinated and smoked. Meh. Don't need to try it again.
  2. If true, she is. A grandmother no less (okay, a 46 yr old grandmother, we're in the south here.) Actually, I found the embedded headline more interesting. Every time any woman tries to tell me she's as competent, tough and capable as and any man, I ask if she'll kill spiders. None ever say yes. WOMAN WITH ARACHNOPHOBIA ORDERS KFC SO DELIVERY DRIVER WILL KILL SPIDER
  3. I've loaded 1000s of SIerra 77 grain BTHP and Nosler 77 grain BTHP, all to magazine length. Perfect functioning. Never had a bit of trouble.
  4. What's your load and barrel twist? I had gotten very good results with the Hornady 75 gr HPBT, but stopped experimenting with them a while back.
  5. My pleasure. Hope they are good for you.
  6. I look forward to this. It would be great to have a reasonably priced replacement bolt available for our 308ARs.
  7. Strong your google-fu is (done in the best Yoda voice possible.) So is the Sig 716 compatible with the 308AR? I'm just not that familiar with it. And I just don't understand the double ejector setup. If you're set up correctly, one ejector works just fine.
  8. That is a good price, and first I've seen DPMS offer it there. Midway offers DPMS and JP bolts for outrageous prices, and I've contacted numerous other vendors about buying just a .308AR bolt. They all said no. Good find.
  9. Saw an episode last week, and was intrigued enough to record the series as it plays out on TV.
  10. Yep. Matches the primer pocket diameter. It happens on everyone's bolts (I've tried four different makes). I'm beginning to suspect the 308AR bolt manufacturers are going to have to up the ante on their materials. I've found it on many Garands and M14s alike, but not as badly as on the 308ARs.
  11. Yeah, that's the one. Seems it is never in stock. That popular, eh?
  12. That's exactly what happened to me!
  13. Why won't someone make a 30-06 AR? The brass is far more plentiful and cheaper than .300 Win mag (or .338 Lapua mag) and anything the .308 can do the 30-06 can do better. Yes, I've seen an occasional pic of someone's 30-06AR, but I wonder if it isn't a prototype or a one off, rather than a production rifle.
  14. To the OP, no. I've been checking with various manufacturers, and none of them will sell just a bolt except for JP and DPMS. And their prices are so high you might as well just buy a complete BCG. I wish someone would. I'm getting pitting on all my 308AR bolt faces. A lot more than I'd expect.
  15. It's been a while since I did a new build. Thought I'd share this one with you. Lower: Tennessee Arms black polymer lower Stoner customizable 308AR lower parts kit DPMS ambidextrious safety Magpul MOE grip Rough Justice trigger CMC anti-walk pins DPMS mil-spec carbine extension DPMS 308AR carbine buffer DPMS 308AR carbine buffer spring Magpul adjustable MOE SL carbine stock Upper: Aeroprecision USA M5E1 upper Aeroprecision USA charging handle Faxon 18 inch heavy fluted barrel Superlative Arms adjustable clamp-on gas block 0.75" Toolcraft nitrided BCG Magpul Pro BUIS with the new narrow front sight post The lower went together without too much trouble. Tennessee Arms has done some evolutionary improvements to their polymer lower. This one fit the Aero upper like a glove. The one I did two years ago I had to sand a little bit of polymer off the upper deck to make it fit. First time I didn't lose any springs during assembly either! The finished lower weighs 2lb 2.4oz. Not bad. I like the MOE grip. It's a hard plastic hand grip with stippling- very comfortable and very grippy. I've found the Rough Justice triggers to be very sensitive but excellent. The FCG pins tend to walk on these RJ triggers, so I just installed an anti-walk pin set to begin. The upper was a bit problematic. The barrel nut broke a tooth while tightening and loosening it three times. Doesn't seem to be of any moment (yet). I installed the SA gas block, bottomed the screw, 4 1/2 turns out, then two turns in for starters. Will adjust at the range. I just put a generic bird cage on the muzzle. I've never shot a 308AR without a compensater so this will be interesting. I'm really happy with the way this one went together, although someone needs to make a slightly longer mag release catch for these beasts. I won't be able to get to the range for a bit. I'm looking forward to this new one (to replace the weapons that fell into the lake during the boating accident.)
  16. Saw this on the CMP forum and thought I'd pass it along. I might even consider this, just for the reusable brass. http://www.theamericanmarksman.com/AM-Lake-City-762x51-M80-Ball-147-Gr-FMJ-New-1000-Rounds_p_699.html
  17. I'm looking to get some summer-wear shorts for the hot weather down here in the swamps. Anyone have experience with a brand of shorts that have the capability to properly CCW?
  18. A prayer offered for all the heros...
  19. Welcome back. Prayers for your father.
  20. I am not trying to trash Aero, because I love their products and had a bunch (before that horrible boating accident where they all fell in the lake). Be very cautious and check out the pieces carefully. Two of the last three uppers I received from them simply had major problems. Aero fixed one, is looking into the other now. The most recent was an M5E1 upper with an Aero charging handle. Their own handle wouldn't fit. I tried three other handles, none of them fit either. Their charging handle wouldn't fit into anyone else's upper, making me think there is a major QC problem over there. I want them to get it fixed, but check things out carefully before too long a period of time has elapsed.
  21. That is one impressive piece of equipment! Especially for the price. Interesting sighting in video. No ear or eye protection.
  22. There's a place in Robertsdale, AL on US 59 that sells hides of all sorts... cow, goat, deer, etc. Next time I'm out that way I'll get their info if you can't find it online.
  23. Oh, a true "ghost gun".
