Indeed traps are the way to do it ,my momma would have us trap a washtub full and put clean water and some cornmeal in the tub and keep em in the shade for a day then she would boil them along with ears of corn and new potatos and little onions, and when she could get them blue crabs too and she made this mixture of spices and red pepper and man you could eat all day .. great stuff and you got to have corn bread too.... and butter and fresh honey.... damn .. I am jonsing now.....

  10. Survivals point is spot on !!! there is now plan for a scenario like this it will be total chaos for a long time.. and no I agree the ones in the hills will not welcome anyone but because it will be chaos the less contact with folks the better and easier for you to keep yourself fed and watered.... BTW the folks on The walking Dead are idiots they are the worst at surviving I have ever seen..... :)))))))))))))))))))) <thumbsup> PS I have a wife that is a nurse has been for over 25 years she is the one who pointed out to me all the folks who would be dead just from the lack of electricity and drugs.

    NFA Form 1

Ok here is a question on this subject lets say you have a few black rifles can you take one of them and take that lower and use it for a short barreled build then after you get your stamp can you use it for both uppers long and short? and would you need to engrave it ,since it already has a manufacturer and serial number on it?
  15. Bugging in! Hmmmm well at it's best it would be very difficult to survive in a large city bugging in some things to consider..... if the event is a EMP or lights or no power event then I would bug out! get the hell out of the city if you are in the country or suburbs prepare for a invasion from the city, here is why... 3 to 4 days in all grocery stores will be stripped, then panic will set in and there will be haves and have nots, then the fighting and looting will ensue. To survive this you must avoid it and in my opinion it will be alot easier to leave a large city before the fighting and looting start. you must have access to a clean and steady water supply, this is a must and shelter depending on time of year ,the more people in a area the less resources and higher probability of contact with a have not who wants what you have. If the event is a temporary thing then bugging in is ok . Now back to the city in 2 weeks garbage and raw sewage will be everywhere abandoned cars burned out cars etc etc and remember in the first 2 weeks all people on life support ,dialysis, anyone dependent on power will be dead, those bodies have to go somewhere.... in 6 weeks 30 percent of the population will be dead due to disease and starvation large cities will become a death trap due to contaminated water and lack of the abilitiy to dispose of the dead. to survive you must avoid all of this and to do that I say bug out as far from people as you can, remote after this 6 to 8 week crash things will level out and then you must figure out how you want to continue, with a group ,or solo, or whatever . Cash's buried in a remote spot that you can get to will be a great insurance policy, and don't forget to study up on some basic dental care also more primitive people died from tooth abscesses than from fighting, it is the small things that get ya. learn many ways of building fires it is fun practice and can be a heaven send in the right conditions. surviving is tough because in todays world we do not have the mind set to do it we have the mind set that when things get tough or we get hungry we quit and go to town or the doctor, that has made us weak and I do not think it is possible to teach it you must learn by living it . a good example of this mindset is when Native Americans had what we called a starving winter (resources were not good that year) the old would simply walk into the woods and disappear, they did that so the young and stronger could make it. Modern day man's idea is to save everyone and that will simply not happen in a serious event.... just some ideas to ponder.. for myself the older I get the harder it will become but I will avoid people at all cost, or keep it to a small mobile group of like minded folks....

    'Merica!

No offence but that is a really bias pole their first criteria is population the large populations then landmarks????? WTF does that have to do with being a patriot? Google? really? then the biggy........ People who list America on Facebook!!!!!! LMAO so you also have to have the internet to be a patriot..... all righty then..... National Historic Landmarks per Capita Veterans per Capita Money Spent to Fund Veterans Percent of Residents That Voted in the Last Presidential Election People Who Google For American Flags to buy People Who List America as an Interest on Facebook
  17. BOB's and bugging out a subject dear to my heart, 1st everyone should be prepared for a bug out and also practice doing it you may find it is much different than you suspect it to be, also practice in all 4 seasons not just a sunny weekend. a sleeping bag is a MUST in the wrong weather you will die without it. FIRE and Water are your two biggest and most precious commodities. have several different ways to make fire again your life or a loved ones may depend on fire on demand. and if you do not practice it in all weather conditions you will fail...... small votive candles will burn longer than a match light one when building your fire if you loose the fire in the beginning you can use the candle. animal fat is like fuel it will make a lamp or start a fire learn how to render it. A cooking pot can melt snow, collect water off the tarp or cook your porcupine stew, a good pot is a must but it must be light. cord, first aid,a good knife one of three, one on the body at all times one on the vest, and one in the pack, spread things out. led flashlight and batteries, they are a luxury but a heaven send when you need light now. firearms, a long gun, a break down 22 and a pistol of your choice, you will have to figure out how much ammo you want as opposed to food a brick of 22 is your friend and can feed you for years , a can on that 22 makes it 2 friends. stealth is your friend, not taking risks larger than the reward, learning not to be afraid in the woods at night and learning that you are the dominate predator. teamwork is awesome but you are only as fast as your slowest person all tactics are geared towards the slowest not the fastest. I would go now where without a good tomahawk one with a flat poll on the other end and a good blade on the front a wood handle is better than steel both in weight and easy to replace, the mind is your best tool learn how to use it and you will do fine a BOB is as personnel as each individual they all will be different but yet have some of the same things in them learn what works for you... I could write about this stuff all day..... luck to all
  18. good point i guess a disclaimer at the beginning of the thread would be wise and on reloading threads saying to start low and work up should be a must but i do agree with you , on that point.... ..
  19. 98Z5V, I know to folks that have good internet you do not think about it much but people need to remember not everyone has good internet I have a connection that is held to 4 gigs a month( so watching alot of youtube is not doable and besides most of the time my connection is to slow to stream it). total and the speed is about equal to dialup, and that is all that is available, and to boot I can not join ARFcom simply because I do not have a big time known email address so they can take it in the neck!!... in fact it is the reason I cam to this site
  20. Not trying to start a revolution here lol just trying to get all the awesome material on this site into a user friendly format of somesort, Again i will say that in build threads THERE SHOULD BE NO USER COMMENTS ,IT SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED. that way it is the users build and not influenced by others if you think you have a better way then do your own build , as a example I want to build a complete upper, but I never have nor have I seen it done a upper build thread would be a great tool complete with pictures and specs. same with reloading, or lower parts kits easy for many of us but a new comer might like to be able to just follow the directions, all build threads should have to get permission from the Mods so we stay on subject, you could have bolt guns, semi autos pistols whatever as lon g as they are instructional... all this info can be kept in a archive .... anyway you get the idea even if you don't like it it is all good.... here is a link to a build thread on a jeep forum it is simply awesome... http://www.jeep-cj.com/forums/f98/cj5-hardtop-budget-build-converted-cj7-hard-top-16951/ After reading that even I can do it ....
  21. Ok does anyone know where to write to these clowns and give them a piece of my mind....
  22. all those threads are very hard to search specific part build and they are not organized into anything that is easy to use a build section should not have user comments it should be a critera that it include alot of pictures and read like a how to manual.. of course this is all my opinion and I guess means not much it was just a suggestion, no big deal .....I will drop it.
  23. Honoring our warriors should be something everyone should do everyday , they have given everything for us there is no bigger sacrifice that any man or woman can make , Thank you brothers and Sisters .......
