True info there My Larue 111 mount is a 20 min of angle mount my bolt gun has a 20 min of angle rail on it my sight over bore is 2.38 inches I have to be very carefull and use and believe my bubble and not get in a hurry when i shoot 1000 +it is huge.... Saterlee's method is the one i used to develop my load for the 6.5x284 I had my load in 11 rounds with a ES of 2 at the top of my node with H4350 used that load with three rounds 10 K of the lands fired a group at 100 it was 1/4 inch moved the bullet to 15 k off the lands loaded 7 rounds first two at 400 both dead center hits next two at 800 again both hits went to 1000 first round hit next i missed it was me next round hit so with less than 25 rounds i was done and dusted!

I use or have used Reloader 22, 26, H1000 H4350, Retumbo IMR 7828, reloader 26 is the bomb for over bore cartridges... more velocity than any other powder at safe levels.

Welcome to the forum please stop by the introduction page and write a bit about yourself , gas port .075 I am not the expert here but this seems small but my main question would be how much lube do you have on your new weapon? the BCG should be dripping wet these bigger AR's need to wear in and they need a lot of lube hang in there help is on the way..

If anyone comes by them or has some for sale please let me know 140 Berger Target Hybrid 6.5 bullets.. I have 5 steel matches to shoot and only 100 of these bullets i have the powder and primers ...thanks

Ditto no problemo here and I have them in 6 devices..

I use the awesome stuff for lubing my pistols and other small jobs I do not have enough to soak a complete BCG.. so if I am soaking something i use the Mobil but then when i lube it in the future I use The secret sauce... 🙂 still have a little bit...

Bolts a bit tight huh? well Young man you should know that all tight things need lube and lots of lube dripping wet lube Like well you can figure out the rest! get yourself some Mobile one synthetic oil 30 wt. and soak your Bolt the whole thing in it for two weeks make sure it is clean when you start that stuff adheres to the metal at a molecular level after a couple weeks it will not take more it will always feel buttery smooth and is easy to clean Yeah just like that!

I agree 100% with Erik Cortina i used his method to find my powder charge started about two grains under what my max would be and loaded 1 round in .2 grain increments to my max . I then took those ten or eleven rounds and fired them through a chronograph, i did not care where they hit on the target but i did use them to roughly sight in the rifle killed two birds with one pill. So after i fired each one i wrote down the speed i was looking for a flat spot where i was not gaining more velocity through 2 or 3 of the rounds but i did not hit the NODE until the last 4 rounds the last three were approaching 2900 FPS they were rd. 9. 2898 rd 10. 2899 and rd.11. 2899 I am over max in the book but i have no pressure signs at all no sticky bolt no ejector marks etc... so i knew i had found a node . So as i stated above i loaded 3 rounds at 48.5 grains of H4350 and i was going to start at 20 tho. off the lands which i determine for each different bullet i do a soft set with Hornady bullet comparator and a shell fired from my gun that i drilled out and threaded on my mini lathe so i had a starting depth to the ogive backed off 10 tho. as i have loaded many rounds ten off with good results... fired a 3 shot group and had great results so i backed off 5 more tho. fired a 3 shot group and had awesome results. Now i have to go fire at 300 and 700 to check my dope from my sig app and the ABS2400 and true these numbers and see if this load stays constant...but after reading everything i can find on 6.5x284 Norma there are more records held by that gun then carter has liver pills and with H4350 in that powder charge range.. so i have high hopes but the main thing here is i have kept my load count down saving barrel life as this cartridge is known for short barrel life 1300 to 1900 rounds. So the only time i will ever care about the lands is my first time with a load it is just a reference point after that it will never be the same so it does not matter.......some people do not get this method obviously 98 you do it works!

Have been powder testing with H4350 and my 6.5 284 Norma finally found the node last three powder charges through the Chrony had a standard deviation of 1 yes 1 so i loaded three 10 thousands off the lands sent them downrange 1/2 inch group loaded three more moved them to 15 thousands off the lands and 1/4 inch group 1 hole I am done so I loaded a box full I have my load in under 50 rounds........ I am ready may have to renig on my last elk thread I see this gun getting one come fall...
