Rather have a Federal License than a Federal Ban, which could very well be the choice in the next few years. Or worse, a ban might not be a choice, but the absolute law of the land. And if a licensing system saved a bunch of kids lives because a deranged misfit couldn't buy or procure a firearm to take intoa school, I would do it. Do I want to? Hell no! But the simple fact is there are people who should never have access to highly capable firearms. And right now they do. That has to change and we better take action to change it while we can, because the political climate against firearms could, and probably will, get a lot worse in the near future. The last thing I want is for a Diane Feinstein directing the conversation on gun control in two years, rather then a Lindsey Graham.

I have been thinking about thhis for a while, and perhaps you haven’t noticed, but every time there is a mass shooting incident the push back against firearms gets stronger and stronger. And it is going to continue. It may take until my generation dies off to succeed, but you look at demographics, and the younger generations are pushing firearm control or bans! The more “incidents” the stronger the push for an outright ban will be. The only thing that will potentially stop that is eliminating these “incidents”. Tom has defended the concept far better than I ever could, but we either take reasonable steps now, or wait until NRA or not, the popular concensus is overwhelmingly against firearm ownership. We need to solve this problem now before we reach that point, and I think this might very well be a way to accomplish that, and still let us responsible owners have our Black Rifles.

Just one observation: If gun owners/enthusiasts don’t come up with a solution to these mass shootings AND the use of handguns (usually semi automatic)in the majority of murders in this country, we may have draconian measures including outright bans forced upon us by the zealot left. The fact that we are discussing things like this is a good thing, whether we agree or disagree. We need this conversation.

I would be okay with this. I already have basically registered the when I bought my suppressor. I would prefer this like 98 points out, to each state enacting there own laws, with quite a few banning them altogether. I actually think this is inevitable, and prefer it if it keeps weapons out of the hands of head cases and gang bangers. We aren’t the problem, it is the ones that fall through the cracks and still can buy a modern firearm that are. I would register mine tomorrow if that what it takes to keep black rifles out of their hands. JMO.

With the efforts of certain countries to hack into our power grid, makes perfect sense to prepare for it.

Any of you, especially you Texas guys, ever read this book? Got it three years ago and still haven't dove into it. What I have read, just tells me I am doing it right.
