That should be enough in most cases. I use that same Lee Loader, but with small base dies. I did have a recent failure to extract with my new M1A, but I was using a light load. Next time out I will keep track of it.

Full length as opposed to small base dies? While not much difference, that might possibly be it. It is not much case at the bottom, but if it swelled, that might cause it. Just a thought. Check your case diameter at just above the base with a micrometer and compare it to a factory round just to be sure.

Be careful, the military is reportedly looking for a larger cartridge so you never know where this may lead. Seriously, a great project. I always wondered why more research into the advantages of 7.62x39 and into fixing it's disadvantages hasn't been done in the U.S.. Keep us informed!

A lot of good advice. I do use small base dies as I am shooting in three different 308's of two different designs and just want to ensure standardized reliable feeding. Both RCBS and Lee dies are good. The Lee crimping dies are awesome!

You generally get what you pay for. If you can find any left over ZQ1 from Turkey, not real accurate but the brass is good for reloading.

Up here we look for last years prescribed burns. Always a bunch of morels coming up the next year. Really like Santa Maria tri tip. Don't find that cut much in the midwest, more a California type thing.
