  1. Sounds like you took the time to do your research. I am sure you will like it.
  2. FN designed the grip angle to be exactly the same as a 1911. Have you tried changing the backstrap inserts yet?
  3. No experience with a refurb, but my Nikon Monarch 4x16x42mm was an open box from optics planet and saved me $90 over list.
  4. Great! glad you got it. You will really enjoy it.
  5. If we don't support our LGS'S they go out of business.
  6. JT thanks man. I had read this article and thought of it when this discussion came back up. Some great stuff came out of that set up down in Houston. Glad I got a chance to reread it brother.
  7. Shepp called it first.
  8. Got mine from Optics Planet.
  9. It's all about what you are trained in and what you are proficient in. The 1911 still feels good on the hip and in the hand.I have been shooting one since I was 12 and always will have one to shoot.
  10. Nice to know people with cajones still love our country. I have been watching this flag burning schit for 50 years. Don't care what a person's politics are, you don't desecrate our flag!
  11. Welcome from Northern Wisconsin.
  12. Soviets were running T-62's back then, weren't they? Turned out to have a few problems, thank goodness. Syrians and Egyptians preferred the T-54/55.
  13. That's what it was designed for. A Gau-8 filled with depleted uranium 30mm rounds and a wingload of Mavericks.
  14. A friend of mine up here was an M-60 Tank Gunner just south of the Fulda gap during the 70's. He was talking about it during the Packer game last week. Said a lot of people didn't realize how much armor and crap the Soviets had crammed into a very small space just across the border.
  15. Binos are fine until you get out to 200 yards, then unless they are high quality, it gets hard to see the bullet holes.
  16. Nice! maybe she will let you shoot it every once in a while.
  17. He's one of those people you can tell got deservedly beat up a lot as a kid.
  18. I have heard some really good things about .300 Norma, Rob, do you have any experience with it?
  19. 260 Remington or 6.5 Creedmore. Just understand that you can put together the flattest shooting, most accurate AR type rifle possible, but at 1000+ yards, it probably won't compete with the best bolt actions. But don't let that stop you and keep us informed of your progress. You may end up learning and sharing some new tricks of the trade.
  20. Shepp, looks like I am going to be down in Madison the night of Febuary 22. Understand its a work night, but thought I'd see if you want to meet up for a beer and or a burger somewhere. Got a month to figure it out.

    Good Quotes

"It's a dog eat dog world out there, and I'm wearing Milk Bone underwear." Norm on "Cheers".
  22. Been a few years, but I had good experiences with these people. They actually arranged a group purchase on another forum that worked out pretty good. https://lohmanarms.com
  23. Welcome from Wisconsin, Matt. You came to the right place. There are members on this forum who have a tremendous amount of knowledge about 308AR's and firearms in general. I usually learn something new each day. And sometimes it even has to do with firearms! Seriously, a great place to get your questions answered.
