Not all of are allowed to carry a big piece of lumber in our sled, brother lol. Look at the pic below and tell me if you'd choose the big-ass light or the itty bitty asp. Not much of a decision. I haven't broken the asp out since my first defensive tactics training.

DPMS type Nickel Boron BCG's available on GB
jrtMA replied to Lon Moer's topic in DPMS LR-308 General, Technical Discussion
I've now been to the range with my Mega build about 6 times and the last 2 have seen some 7.62 M80 ball (kinda sh!itty) down range. I have not had a single issue firing it, even with the very tight headspacing results on the 7.62 vs. the .308 with the GB BCG. As Edgecrusher can attest to, that sh!tty ammo was actually surprisingly accurate out of my Mega. It fired just as accurately out to 100 yards yesterday for me. A small problem is finding more at a reasonable price as it now just went up to a mind-numbing 47 dollars a box now (50 count). The only problem that I have with the BCG is seemingly inferior coating. It has chipped off a bit where the bolt meets the barrier. This isn't a big deal. The machining seems solid and I don't want to pony up the big bucks for a JP so it is what it is. The BCG was still $350 so I'll be damn if I'm not going to get my $$$ worth out of it. -
PR-24? Why use that when you have the below item already in your hand much of the time...maglite time!

Great, another one? lol. Like I don't have enough choices from Geissele. I'm still sticking firm to the SSA-E for the next one in the lineup.

Calm day with the family and then I went shooting with an old military friend. Of course I took some time to think about all those that made the ultimate sacrifice and those that have and still are serving.

Magpul customer service not so great (RESOLVED)
jrtMA replied to 392heminut's topic in General Discussion
That blows! Sorry to hear about this obvious shortcoming from Magpul. I got on that list but didn't end up utilizing it. It's sad to hear about their response to your confirmation emails. Hopefully it was a fluke but the emails should have shut them up and had a rep send you out your order ASAP. I agree with MaDuce, promags are nice but if I had the choice I would still go with PMags. I have family up in ME and a few of their retail stores were trying to get 25 or more a piece for the 30 rd 5.56...way overpriced. -
I recently bought a RRA LPK at a really good price and will compliment it with a Geiselle SSA-E down the road, using the extra parts as backups. Tom recommended the Armalite LPK with match trigger awhile ago and I think I'll be giving that a shot on my SBR build next year. I've never bought a PSA LPK but have mostly heard good things.

Häyhä's story is incredible. He was a simple 5 ft tall farmer that used a (iron sites only, apparently) Mosin-Nagant Model 28 to regularly kill Russian soldiers out to 400 yards. Häyhä is credited with even more record breaking kill numbers with his Suomik 31 SMG. A close military friend of mine bought a MA compliant version of the SMG. It's definately neutered but still fun.

The White Death...now that was a target rich environment that he worked in. http://www.simohayha.com/

It's a sickness, without a doubt. My excuse is..Hun, do you realize the state of the gun market today...blah blah blah. I go on a semi-contained factual account ramble. My goal is to bore the hell out of my wife to the point that she runs for the next room to get away from me and just agrees that I made a good purchase. I figure I can keep this up for at least one more lower and another 2500 rifle before I need to change tactics.
-
JP is top quality so you shouldn't have any issues. However, you should check your headspacing as always. Other bolts are occassionally popping back up on the market. You might want to get on a few email lists for bolts and save the money. Waiting could take a month or so depending how quick you are to check your email and place an order. Good luck.

I agree with you on that brother. They are some hardcore motherf'ers led by a seemingly coldblooded hardcore motherf'er that doesn't take crap from anyone. Almost every headline I read about Russians and Islamic Extremists (in Russia) ends with the latter six feet under...if they even bother to bury them lol. Bullet to the head...?!? Still shaking my head lol. However, may I point out that we still would have won. The scorched planet may have never been the same though.

This isn't an immediate purchase for me so I'll check out those ones as well. It seems there are almost endless options and or upgrades out there.

I second a lot of what has been said about the ballbusting and you should stay. Just warning though, if we do all happen to get together than I would be weary of allowing Tom anywhere near you while you sleep. You might wake up with shaved eyebrows or some crazy sh!t like that.

It's not new so I'm sure some of you guys have seen it already. At first, I thought this was a fake photo...then I realized it wasn't and laughed my ass off at how awesome this rifle is. http://www.gilboa-rifle.com/Gilboa-Firearms/Snake/ Are 2 better than 1? lol

My no safety M&P45 carries 10+1. It's a great gun (no glock though) and is a big big improvement over my old Sig P229 DAK. The Smith is actually lighter and it was nice going from a 40 to a 45 and also have less recoil and a lighter improved trigger pull. Right now, off duty, I carry a M&P9 mm compact with tritium sights and light trigger. I'm also very happy with this gun but can see switching to a glock compact down the road. Unless Kimber changes my mind but it will be a bit heavier which might kill it for me...not buying, just carrying.

I never felt the three mags I carry are enough while working. This story makes me want to place a quick order for an extra 2. Great read.

Black rain Ordnance multical lower receiver
jrtMA replied to survivalshop's topic in Black Rain Ordnance
Nice looking! Good pickup. -
Try this... http://dsgarms.com/ProductInfo/ARM10203100.aspx Of course it's always better to bundle items if you can but sometimes you need to take the hit for a single piece if you want to shoot sooner rather than later. I would buy two, just in case. A quality extra part like that is good to have, especially if you plan on more builds. Plus you might save yourself the S&H down the road. DSG Arms is a really good site.

Outdoor Channel pulls production from CO
jrtMA replied to 98Z5V's topic in Firearm Industry News and Gossip
My respect for the OC just jumped 10 fold. I lived in Colorado for 2 years while at Ft. Carson and hate to see such a beautiful state go down this path. I knew so many people back then that went there specifically to hunt and enjoy the sights. I hope all that join the fight to appeal all that bulls!t are successful in their fight. Great job Magpul and all the others that are standing tall. -
^^^^^^^ The mole rat pic is classic, I love it.

Centurion has a new 308 rail, and it's hot!
jrtMA replied to edgecrusher's topic in Firearm Industry News and Gossip
I've been fighting the self-inflicted price battle since first coming to this forum when I began rambling on about the limit I had on my Mega. Hold on a minute....I just had to laugh a little....ya, anyways, that went real well. I think I broke that by $800 lol. It's all good though. -
