  1. Made more 300AAC, 5.56 and 308 brass today. Deprimed the 308's and gotta start on the rest later.
  2. That's probably they made us do the headspace and timing check on the M2 every day whenever we had it mounted on the M113's....
  3. *WAVE HAND* You need an RFB. It's been what you've been looking for. *WAVE HAND*
  4. ....just makes me want one more!
  5. Actually, very few of us have. The G2 is yet another "pattern" of 308 AR rifles. Since the G2 is relatively new, most of us are waiting on someone to be the labrat so that we get an idea of what the long term longevity of these significantly redesigned components are..... So... have you shot it yet?
  6. Here you go for a minimally technical explanation. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Headspace_(firearms)
  7. Now that gives me ideas...... >:D .....where's that guitar....
  8. PSA is having free shipping this weekend if you pile up $50 in purchases.
  9. Hmmmm... by that definition I should sorta know where to find them.... perhaps my wife knows this better than I do. <laughs>
  10. ....must've beat it out with his keyboard... just sayin....
  11. Mike, I wanna know where you're getting these auto-homing, self-guided 45's. I should get some. :D
  12. Took it to the range today for the virgin shoot. Tried to shoot a mag of a buddy's reloads (220gr subs) and performance was inconsistent. Short cycling. Switched to Rem UMC 220gr subs and it was better but still hiccups. The bolt carrier is on the tight side in the upper receiver bore. I figure it will take some breaking in..... still, I had expected more stoppages when firing subs unsuppressed. ....and then while cleaning the barrel between rounds, got the stupid OTIS patch+ eyelet stuck in the $!$@#%$@% chamber and couldn't push it out with the obstruction remover. So much for breaking it in. 20+ rounds and it's stuck in there. Good news is it popped right out when I got home and used my conventional cleaning rod. Overall, pretty happy. Recoil is like a peashooter. This is gonna be fun when I get the bugs worked out. Back to the range on Sunday then.
  13. De-primed and prepped the bras I shot earlier today. Brass pizza anyone?
  14. Tested IMR 4064 loads today. 42.5gr, 175gr BTHP (Barnes and Sierra) using Lake City, FGMM and RP Brass. Slightly on the hot side (slightly cratered primers) but grouping was excellent and consistent. Shot one mag of RP175SMK factory for comparison and shot a little worse and low by about 1mil compared to the reloads.
  15. I believe it has a U-shaped reinforcement plate that deflects any explosion downwards. Maybe they should put in a kevlar cheek piece like the SAR-21...hmmm opportunities for an aftermarket add-on I guess. :D
  16. ....but I like my boat anchor!
  17. More warm greetings from AZ!!
  18. I was ex military and trained to handle weapons of all sizes. I got back into guns for the fun of shooting, but also for personal/home defense. I work solo in my shop all the time and don't want any surprise "walk-ins" especially when I'm working on the machines, so I carry my Sig (SP2022 9mm) with me all the time (loaded but not chambered) At home my wife and I do foster kids and right now we have 5, and three of them were from a particular case where the bio parents (and immediate family) are violent criminals. Even the kids' lawyer even gets nervous whenever she's in the family's area. Granted they are 40-50 miles away from us, it doesn't make me feel any safer. I keep the Sig within reach just in case, and have my 5.56, 300AAC and 308 mags fully loaded. Safety does mean taking things into perspective especially with kids. Two of my kids have ADHD, one severe. That one (just turned 7 last week) can figure out almost anything. He figured how to operate the AR15 lower receiver I had lying on my desk in under 5 mins even though I had the safety on. I keep my bedroom locked all the time (auto locking combination lock) specifically to keep the kids out and that's where all the firearms are kept unloaded and ammo/mags are hidden in a drawer out of sight.
  19. Just got the Sitelite SL-100 after getting tired of messing with the cartrige type laser boresighters. Easy to use, and the Sitelite is way better "zeroed" than the cheapo laser. Spun it around and the sitelite was spot on even at 75 yds. The cartridge ones were never completely centered. I've done it both ways (visual and laser) and have similar results, but the laser lets me sight it in quicker and with less hassle.
  20. Just read the laws and gave it some thought........ I think AR pistols may be legal by definition in NJ law if you can get it below 50oz unloaded. So... think of ways... poly upper/lower plus 8" barrel and CF handguard? Off the shelf AR pistols that may fit this bill: Olympic Arms OA98 - 49 oz (love the skeletonized look) Extar (New Frontier) EXP-556 - 48 oz http://www.extarguns.com/
  21. You tried CFE223 yet? I get pretty good results for 75gr HPBT's
  22. The gas tube has to extend beyond the barrel extension by 1.25" or so, because the tube goes into the gas key on the BCG. Get the 11.75" midlength and you will be fine.
  23. No wonder there's suddenly a ton floating on backpage going for $30/lb
  24. In one of my past jobs, I put up official-looking made-up name tags on empty office cubicles: Ho Lin Wan, Hoo Fung Poo, Goh Fook Yue, Sze Yew Fatt...... etc. Upper management walked by and asked if I'd met the "new" guys yet.....which was quickly followed by muffled giggles from my guys in the next cubes over. (Fun stuff you can do when you have a vinyl cutter)
