I did my 80% .308 with a lower and jig from 80percentarms.com. For the record, all the holes ended up in the right place; I goofed a bit on the first one, which they replaced at half price. Second one came out superb. That said, I also didn't like the bowing from having no spacers for the bottom two bolts. I also had to have them replace the bolt set twice, as they had a bad bunch of bolts for a while. They were very good about that, and as a result, I ended up with extra spacers, which I used to make shims for the bottom bolts. Also, I was able to repair my first error, so ended up with two good lowers. And my 80% lower fits perfectly with my Aero Precision upper. Hang in there. You will end up with a super rifle in the end.

The most pathetic marketing ever comes from a reputable brand
slugger43 replied to beachmaster's topic in General Discussion
Well, that's lots different. The lady's dressed appropriately, not like some dumb slut. Jeans and nuthin' works fine. Or, the beautiful bare boobies could have been just an innocent oversight.... "Oh, sorry Mrs. N....didn't know you were doing the video today. Let me cover up these nips..." Way more tasteful, IMHO. Yuk-Yuk! -
So I'm not from there, but wondering if Platinum members are in the $50.00 Ma-Deuce tier? I could move......................

Sluts, booze and guns.....what the hell could go wrong? Noveske = Moron. Good product, stupid promotion. Build a good gun and you don't need booze and sluts to sell it. Get a new ad rep! Where I come from, the guns get put away before the beer/wine/whatever comes out. -
Ya gonna pop open the roof, or pump that stuff in through a window? Will the weight of the new concrete shower tip the house over? Nice looking pumper truck! Yuk! Yuk!

Oh, and by the way, helluva nice looking desk!

Just did one of those myself last year. poop-canned the tub, reframed, put in a 36 x 48 shower. I sprung for the entire four-piece shower, and I'm glad I did. I do residential property management to enable my gun parts buying, so I do lots of this stuff. And, since it's rentals, it needs to be fool-proof. (Goddammit, stop the maniacal laughing, I can't concentrate!) I have used various plastics, heat-bent formica, and nothing seals stuff up like a cast four-piece setup. Everything screws to the wall, the joints overlap, voila, no leaks, no holes, no water problems. A decent caulk around the edges, and you're in. There is a tall lip on the base that I screwed to the studs with a shallow-head stainless screws, then the wrap-around back goes on (more screws) then the two sides lock to the back piece, and you screw in the front edges. Drywall covers up the screws, of course. Super easy to clean. Since we went down to 4", I had to re-frame that end of the bathroom, but ain't no hill for a climber. I've never found a setup with any kind of covering that stays glued to the damn walls. Expansion and contraction eventually breaks it loose someplace. Then comes the fuking water problems. Us property management types only want enough water in our houses to make icecubes to go in the whiskeyandwhatever. Good luck with your project. New bathrooms generally make you mucho popular with the lady folks. You gotta post pix! Wish I had taken "in progress" pix of mine.

I'm just nervous about them putting bands on my guns.

Work Benches ...where we build our awesome rifles
slugger43 replied to washguy's topic in Club House
OK, so you want a poll? Here's a thought: If we all cleaned up our benches, how many ARs could we build (any caliber) with the spare parts we would find? (Not to mention under, around and behind the bench). -

Looks like I've seen this one before once or twice. Put that lower on the vise block two weeks ago, and haven't had time to get to it. Dang! Cheap and it works. Need to get a better vise....... -
Sooo, what was the distribution of shooters by race? Gender? Age? What percentage of dangerous vs. benign targets were black, or white, or, for that matter, since they said races, I'd like the distribution of both shooters and targets by color and gender. White? Black? Yellow? Brown? Red? I think you call that flawed analysis, and I'm likely missing a bunch of stuff also. What a bunch of bullschittt!!!!! Looks like somebody with an agenda trying to create "facts".

You are absolutely correct. However, the term rat bastard politicians is probably unfair to both rats and bastards. Har!

So just a RCH more than 7 and a third 12 gauge slugs? Damn, that puts things in perspective! Mayhem may be too soft of a word. Wow! To quote Mr. T, "I pity the fool........."

Yes, I'm really pissed off. The murder was a hate crime....and so is chanting about killing LE. Supreme Court has long ago determined that freedom of speech is not absolute. The old "yelling "Fire!" in a theater, example. Inciting to murder police is sickening. The black lives matter people are just disgusting. Thanks to all of the LE who go out there and fight the good fight in spite of this crap. Hang in there. Remember the vast majority of us are on your side.

Makes me sick when these draconian feens smell blood...
slugger43 replied to GreyGoose's topic in General Discussion
Oops, info was incorrect. apparently there are over 700 super delegates, and Hilly has more than 400. However, in addition to members of our legislative branch, there are other government and party bigwigs with this designation. However, it is possible for these super delegates to subsequently change their allegiance, which apparently happened to her in '08, with a bunch of them moving over to Obummer. Sorry for the incorrect info. Mea Culpa. Let the flogging begin............................... Sorry, couldn't figure out how to edit on the new format. Sonova........ -

I believe Hilllllary has 118 of the 130 sorry, that's 230, super-delegates already committed to her, if you're counting. These are all members of congress, and apparently get twice the voting power of the poor little non-entity plain old average piss-ant nondescript ho-hum run-of-the-mill delegates. You know, the folks who would be named delegates as a result of a caucus or a primary....like when people actually talk about the candidates and flucking VOTE! Do ya think the fix is in?????? -
FDE = Freaking Different Everytime (batch)
slugger43 replied to TomVMurphyTX's topic in Introductions
Yeah, this FDE thing is interesting to say the least. My latest is a half-and-half in black and FDE, and the FDE parts don't match. I hosed some of the parts down with a can of Durakote, which got "some of the parts partly matched". Probably the only way to get it all to match is to hose it all down with the same brand of finish. Personally, I think your rifle looks fine, but I'm not all wound up in getting a perfect match. -
Ante in the game is apparently TWO bullets......

Well, I'm comparatively new around here compared to yourself, but I tried to tally up your stuff and I only found 6 that were just you losing your poop. What the fluck did I miss? Damn I hate change..................Har! -
My son helped a friend do a polymer 80% AR-15. Son's opinion was it was okay, but nowhere near as solid as aluminum. My 80% is a 308, not AR-15, and is aluminum. It ain't rocket science. I finished mine with a router, and just don't see the advantage to polymer, other than weight. My primary reason was the non-registration. And it was fun.

Or maybe around here, "Your grandson borrowed your rifle this weekend"............ Well, maybe not.

I do facebook for family stuff- more reading than contributing, but it keeps me up to date. Have found both fb worthless on gun info, generally, ditto youtube for the most part. Thing about this site is, if the input/advice gets sketchy, somebody who really does know jumps in. Lots of sites just don't have that kind of safety factor, and that's huge.

Dammit, I wonder if this is finally the excuse I need to convince my bride to buy me a Barrett? <lmao> <laughs>

Super point. Really simple but most locksets come with a small striker and something like #8x1" screws. Old Aunty Agnes could kick in one of those. Long screws and a four-screw strike plate are a really cheap and cost-effective security device. You can also get deadbolts with longer bolts that go deeper into the jamb, and longer hinge screws don't hurt either. Door chains are OK, but not very strong. The flip-over limiters used in a lot of motels are a lot more effective and quicker to use. Same thing here though, as unforgiven noted, buy some longer screws for these, also.
