  1. You have already crossed over to the darkside by being here. This group of enabling gun nuts will help you drain your wallet faster than you can imagine. They will also get you through any misfortunes that pop up along the way toward rifle perfection
  2. Yeah I know about the impatience part. I've got all the parts for the upper waiting here for the barrel to arrive. Then I get to decide if the short Grendel upper goes on my SBR lower or on the pistol lower I already have. Either way what is now black will get camo'd to match my 8" Blackout.
  3. Hey Bro! Since I know you have a Grendel in the stable and all rifles reproduce and have little ones. http://www.65grendel.com/forum/showthread.php?15972-OPEN-65G-MONSTER-12-7-Barrel-Buy-155-12S-amp-H Thought I'de do a bit of enabling.
  4. We have landscapes and tractor supply in WI. As well as similar weather to much of NY.
  5. At your age and with your interests I'de run NOT WALK as fast as possible after your marriage to a free state.
  6. Suppressed .223 sounds like a 22LR when shot.
  7. The law never changed. The suppressor itself is $200 tax stamped to purchase or build it. There is nothing in any application process that you tell them what kind of rifle it is going on. You have to state what caliber suppressor you are going to make for a form 1 but that only covers the hole size of the suppressor. You can run a 30 cal suppressor on anything from 30 caliber on down as long as you can put up with the little bit of extra noise due to smaller bullets flying through the 30 cal holes of the baffles. As far as my SBR lower goes, it is only the lower that is tax stamped. I can put any short barrelled upper on it I have. The SBR lower and the can are tax stamped which allows me and my trustees to possess them. What they go on or get attached to is up to me. Yes I certainly agree that suppressors need to be off the NFA list. At least its legal to hunt with SBRs and suppressors here in WI as long as you have the stamps for them.
  8. I've got a 10" form 1 can that currently lives on my 300BLK 8" SBR. Makes it BB gun quiet with subs. All I have to do is put on the proper muzzle device and I can move it between the SBR, 16" BLK, 18" 6.5 Grendel, soon to have 12.7" Grendel upper, and my 308 AR. All of them have the same muzzle threads.
  9. I keep wondering what it is going to do when I start loading rounds specifically for it. The ones I have on hand also work great in my 8" SBR.
  10. That could be.... I hope so anyway. As far as the rest goes, all it is is a Caldwell 7-rest. It folds almost flat and pretty much lives in the back seat of my Jimmy. With my ARs, whether they are .223, 300BLK, 6.5 Grendel, or .308 I've found I shoot them better by just resting them against my shoulder and resting my left hand on the front arm of the 7-rest. No pulling it tight or solid grip. Just let the rifle kick to where ever it goes after the shot. At least for bench shooting. A bit like the loose grip used for vertical bow shooting so you don't torque the shot one way or another.
  11. I recently finished what was originally intended to be a budget build 300 BLK carbine to replace one I traded for a 16' boat (a whole 'nother story). The vitals are an Anderson upper/lower, a KAK value line 16" pistol gas barrel, and a Rise Armament trigger. The bullets used for its initial range sessions were handloads of Nosler 110 Varmageddons loaded for the rifle I no longer have. I got the scope sighted in last week to where it was shooting 1.5 inch groups at 50 yards. Not great but hey, the bullets were not loaded for this rifle, and they were getting the initial shots done. Today I got out again and things just fell into place. First set of shots: A small group and 3 wild fliers Second set: More shots to verify what was going on Third set: Moved scope setting down and took ten shots Fourth set: Tweaked it to the right a bit and fired ten shots. I had to change mags mid string because the first mag only had 7 bullets left in it. To be honest it shocked the hell out of me. This rifle is shooting these bullets better than the rifle they were loaded for.
  12. On his FB page it shows the rifle with the upper and lower cut in half also. I was thinking the same thing about his creating an illegal SBR.
  13. Weird! Normally its a .223 that goes kaboom when the guy loading the magazine somehow puts a blackout round into it. It ends up going bang, bang, bang....KABOOM when the 30 cal bullet tries to go down the .223 barrel.
  14. Or in Scotland! Mature content
  15. Probably been here before but its still worth another look:
  16. An AR15 upper lapping tool from Brownell's and a 12.7" 6.5 Grendel barrell from the Grendel forum group buy.
  17. My Grendel will run 5 rounds perfectly out of 30 round Gen2 Pmags. I've used them in a pinch for load development. Mags are the only pain in the azz with a Grendel.....oh yeah getting brass to reload is a PIA too.
  18. I just checked. The buffer in the rifle is 3.8 oz
  19. Also a possibility but much less adjustable.
  20. My understanding is that it would indicate being overgassed ejecting to 1-1:30. With all that BCG mass slamming back and forth harder and faster than it has to maybe taming it down a tad could prolong its life.
  21. I have a SA AGB on my 300 BLK suppressed SBR and it is working great. I've recently been thinking of an adjustable gas block for my 308AR due to the fact that brass consistantly gets ejected to 1:00 or 1:30. The rifle has an 18.5" lightweight Criterion barrel with rifle length gas from Fulton Armory and it has fired and ejected everything I have put through it flawlessly, but at the 1-1:30 range. If I remember correctly someone here has tried a SA agb on their 308AR. I tried the search here but came up empty. If the SA agb is not suitable for a 308AR what would you guys suggest? I've looked at Odin and SLR so far.
  22. Welcome. Whereabouts in WI. There are quite a few of us here from all over the state.
  23. Yep. We're one weird a$$ happy family.
  24. Your very welcome. Those of us without a ton of readily spendable cash for guns have to enable those that do. Just doing what I can to keep the economy going.
