  1. Me too. ^^^ Looking at posts here and reading up on a new cartridge is entertaining and fun. Lots of cool studies. Any cartridge that can extend our troops range and perform better than the existing is worth looking into. This 6mm ARC may be the best from among many similar. None of this takes my attention from the 30 cal, which is a favorite. I like the bang and rough stuff. Sometimes you just got to get mean, that just reminded me of a Josey Wales line. Gotta walk the pup ! What Sets the 6mm ARC Apart? Here is a Cartridge Comparison: 308 Win • The 6mm ARC delivers substantially less recoil allowing shooters to spot their own shots. • The AR-15 platform features a higher magazine capacity. • The 6mm ARC offers a 30 to 35% lighter-weight package (gun and ammo). 223/5.56 • The 6mm ARC achieves substantially better ballistics than the 223/5.56. It delivers less drop, less wind deflection and the ability to shoot accurate groups at much greater distance (1000+ yds). 224 Valkyrie • The 6mm ARC gives hunters the ability to successfully hunt varmints and deer. • The 6mm ARC produces a larger splash signature that allows shooters to self-spot impacts and make rapid adjustments. 6.5 Grendel • The 6mm ARC delivers comparable performance from a wider assortment of bullets, making it a more versatile choice. 6.8 SPC • The 6mm ARC has more match bullet options and is a better long-range performer.
  2. UPS due tomorrow with barrel from Brownells BA. Waiting on some goodies from Odin.
  3. Did a pre order with Brownells Fri. on a barrel. They already shipped the barrel and will be here Thursday. It looks like I saved $40 on the pre-order. Went from 185 to 225.
  4. Terrific job handling that nice rifle. That's some flyer DNP, off a half mm, for shame.
  5. I read the thirteen pages as if it were dialog from a back porch conversation. Terrific read and it's based on pre and post announcement from Hornady. June 3rd was the announcement from Hornady but some folks had inside info as well as many of the manufacturers. It was a well kept secret as it turns out. I've ordered a barrel from Brownells and an upper from Odin, the clock is ticking. One company has the complete rifle for sale as of now, our friend doesn't care for this brand so I won't mention the name, but soon there will be others. Barrett has a gov contract for some spec-op unit, not for us.
  6. Thanks, I was preparing for once in my gathering process to save coinage with the follower idea. Switch followers only, but it looks as if new mags are the answer.
  7. That reference to the followers was from an article about an effective magazine for the 6mm ARC. I finally caught up to an article that wasn't fascinated with the round. That's 10 pro, and 1 con for the 6mm ARC. Any writer worth his weight and wants to continue in the gun writing field, had better not totally crush a new offering, unless of course something dangerous is afoot. Personally I like the look of the cartridge. Call me Ishmael, yes I'm looking for that do all cartridge also, the great white whale of a bullet and casing that takes gopher and Elk, stays supersonic past a thousand and comes in at .50 a round commercial. I'm old enough to remember Tubb sneaking in a 6mm round and championing a switch from the usual at Camp Perry when it was like top secret. Yep, sometimes it is the arrow and not always the Indian. All in all this leaves me at the point of wondering which magazine would best suit the 6mm ARC? That secret DoD group that bought into the round which mag are they employing? I've already joined the wait list for a barrel and have also committed to a complete upper in the 6mm ARC, both of which are being manufactured or shipped at this time. Just sayin' my piece out loud because I have skin in the game, and when you pay the piper you gets to dance. " He beckons. "
  8. Where can I buy 6.5 Grendel followers?
  9. 06' is a terrific round, I enjoy a Garand with all it's flaws? Haven't tried any modern rifles with that round though. When you get yours let us know how it does. I'm not trying to urge you to buy, or I would have mentioned the commonalities between the 6mm ARC and .243. Both are speed demons and powerful. Or I would ask which rifle you might mount the spare EX0022, no sense letting it rot in the safe. As you can see I didn't mention buying any new items, none of us would, it just isn't right to do so.
  10. That's what they mean when they say it 'smarts'. First it hurts then you get smart.
  11. nutz. Just ordered a thousand rds 556. Went to a local lgs/range, line out the door for buying firearms, was able to walk in for the range with no line. Ordered online ammo for a tiny bit more than usual, we'll see if it ships. Last time out I was notified of a cancellation on my order, and then all of a sudden like, they found more for a higher price. Needless to say that particular company will not get any more business from me. Actually I was startled finding a line waiting to buy guns. I never saw that before, I've heard of it but never seen it. The line continued inside the shop ten deep for two registers. I thought it was some kind of sale, nope, just eager folks scratching an itch.
  12. Deny, deny, deny. " I have a get out of jail free card do you."
  13. Now who on earth would let down these beings? Not I, so I started an investigation on parts gathering. I may not be a good builder but boy o boy can I gather !!!
  14. Not to mention 6.5... never mind.
  15. Wood and steel is a winning combination.
  16. ^^^ very cute.
  17. Balls ! Forget that cutesy shirt and stuff. That's a sniper eye if I ever saw one.
  18. Roll over image to zoom in LimbSaver Snap-On Recoil Pad for 6-Position Adjustable Stocks by LimbSaver From Amazon $38.00 I've used limbsaver products for 12 ga. shotguns---good stuff. I screwed up the copying but you get the idea.
  19. Thanks for the reminder. I'll never forget the men who raised me and my friends. We had a whole crew of neighborhood guys that were WWII vets, my dad was there also. As children we heard many stories about bravery, fear, and the impossibility of the deeds done. I miss that group and the protection they offered. Mighty big boots to fill. Are you up to it ?
  20. Welcome from Florida.
  21. ^^^ " Are you a man or a mouse?" " squeak squeak!"
