  1. @DNP I still have a box of 6.5 SAUM sitting in the safe. I've only seen those rounds used by the shooter's in Utah for LRP. Most folks are having their challenges during this covid crap. Extra patience is necessary. Thanks for the kind words. Every rifle I see using 6.5 Saum is like 4 grand, need a rifle to go with my ammo?? I've actually entertained the thought, thankfully only a fleeting thought. On point the 6mm ARC is a winner from most info I've seen. Parts and things will become more available as time goes on. Suggestions on available ammo needed. Brownells is out, P_A is out. I want some factory stuff before I begin reloading for it. Safety first.
  2. Post PSA call: Would I like a 10% discount on the wrong ammo, ordered 6mm ARC received 12g #8 dove loads. UHH no. Sent a convoluted message on how to return their package, as if I worked for them. I have nothing better to do than spend an hour returning their mistake. I asked to return their 308 vise block that doesn't fit their 308 lower. They sent me a repair req. Go figure. It's a 10$ item, they are going to repair it. This is the last time I deal with these folks. I felt bad for the rep having to answer me the way he did, terribly sorry for the yada yada yada. Of course they are out of the correct ammo and never offered a future discount or any other financial apology. I don't like dealing with money scared people, it's just about the Benjamins and they sound broke. It's my understanding they sell over 50% of the new 308 rifle business nationwide and you are dollar scared? Shame on you. Shame on me if I ever do business with them again. Thanks @Swiftab, on my way there. @DNP they never offered to fix the ammo deal, just would take it back. BTW, I have never heard of a company allowing an ammo return.
  3. I just got my order from PSA, wrong ammo. I received a hundred rounds of Fiocchi Dove Loads, and no 6mm ARC, no kidding, waiting on the phone for CS right now.
  4. Good for you @shrade as both are classics. It is never a bad idea to become proficient with either one, or both. Personally I continue to be a faithful fan of the 1911 no matter the flavor of the month. Personal tastes toward steel and wood run deep, although I freely admit the benefits of plastics and inserts. The sheer pleasure of craftsmanship belongs to the former class of firearms. Add the lineage of ownership as you have, the brace of pistols, it doesn't get any better than that. Enjoy, I'm sure there is a couple of good stories wrapped up your collection to boot.
  5. Got some thanks Doc.
  6. Welcome from Fla.
  7. Good price
  8. Cancelled my Odin Works pre-order for 22" 6mm Arc barrel and gas block. Never answered my queries on delivery, never updated any news. Maybe a terrific company but let me down.. On to better news I did receive an 18" 6mm ARC barrel and will begin my build today. Thank you for starting this thread as I'm sure of finding the best info on the entire internet right here regarding this round and rifle.
  9. Heck with Armalite, you done stole my name son.
  10. Welcome aboard shrade. Congratulations on two fronts, one being a 44 year career in a construction trade and the other bring the ability to retire. Don't sit down, move move move. What's your favorite firearm from your collection?
  11. Welcome from Florida.
  12. Cool.
  13. That cop knows how to punch. Perfect form. Steps right into his left foot and uses as much upper body as available. Left hook is beautiful. I wish he could have given that shot to the guy's liver, boom and down. A nice kick to the face for a souvenir.
  14. Very cool idea for a hot day. This is the third post of mine mentioning an Odin Works order in place. 6mm ARC 21" barrel with bcg, gas block and tube. I'm waiting on an e-mail announcing their shipping to my home. I did jump on that deal. $500 and change for the package. The pre-order no longer exists. I think I'll be saving about a hundo. I ordered a few small parts for a MEC 600 Jr.
  15. Same stuff happened Long Island, f'kin knuckleheads ruined a good spot. I'm not sure they ever opened again. They hit a kid with a bullet, the youngster is OK btw . If we can help that range and the guys who may have to pucker up let me know please.
  16. Can't play in the heat too long, I'm learning how to live in Fla. About four months of shade seeking while being outside walking the dog. The other eight months is generally pleasurable and the reason most folks retire to similar places. Sorry @Sisco, didn't want to veer too outside the box. That plain Jane, tuxedo style, or full on business style shows well in the picture. I can't tell for sure, what is on the muzzle? is it the bird cage? ... and the sling, aah the 1907. How many boys had that piece of work issued? There is something to be said about those. I have a few and they always remind me of my father's generation, and of course some of our brothers. I have a black " Carlos Hathcock " stamped " White Feather " sling. I became interested in them while messing around doing National Match Garand shooting. In an artistic view, I know I'm going too far, but I just woke up after a terrible nights sleep, the sling naturally brings your eye back to the subject, the movement so to speak. It reminds me of the Amazon logo. The arrow points from A to Z, insinuating that Amazon has everything. I'm glad you have the option of not being here for now. " It's murder I tell you." Even following downpours, which I like watching, the place dries up in twenty minutes and you never thought it rained. Again, nice rifle and pic.
  17. Proposed new rule 86: If you mess up, own it!
  18. Don't we have a rule that states: " If when ordering rifle parts and it's the wrong part we need to admit our mistake, correct our mistake, and then build another correct rifle for the incorrect part we ordered?" HMM, " Honey I did it once more. Silly me, I've ordered the wrong part again. I hafta build one more rifle." SWMBO, "... that makes six wrong moves Joe. When's this going to stop?"
  19. Nice rifle and groups. Hopefully the weather breaks here soon and the temps drop a wee bit. Every time I go out in this heat, 90+, I get heat stroke or some such. It's hard to argue with success.
  20. Welcome, good post bud.
  21. WOW, that is a good deal! Thanks
  22. I absolutely researched the grills after viewing this thread yesterday. Damn big money for them. Komodo Joe III seems to be top dog as of now. I don't know though, a split 55 gal drum, three heavy hinges, some fire brick, a couple of pieces of flue pipe and Voila !
  23. ^^^ A quick glance and I thought you had dragon feet on the Komodo, no it's gloves.
  24. @RadioactiveI did a jaunt to Vegas in the month of August. Yikes. I saw some electricians installing a lamp post and felt horrible about their conditions. Lick your lips and watch steam come off. @98Z5VI asked about the 800 yd range and comparisons already knowing the answers. Anything that keeps US Troops and their allies in safety is a good thing. No sense in closing to 100 if it's not necessary. Spend the bucks and save lives.
  25. You're killing me. How is it that 1/2 lb. broccoli fills me up yet two lbs. brisket doesn't make a dent?
