  1. I definitely want a KSG and have played with them multiple times but never gotten to shoot them. Someday.
  2. I'm so glad she was found, I have had to follow-up on multiple leads the last few months while we were looking for her. Usually off the radio due to the media coverage of the whole thing. Always we never had any luck. I honestly thought for sure we would never find her or if we did she would turn up dead. Amazing she survived and escaped. Prayers that she turns out as normal as possible.
  3. I just commented and liked everything crom related
  4. lol. yeah I am looking for my gun to blend in, not stand out.
  5. I would be if you just called it the friend discount. lol.
  6. Well makes me feel a little bit better I am not the only one getting screwed. lol. we have a class in the academy right now. they have wanted an 80 person class the last 3 years, never been able to get over 40 qualified people though. the current class started with 38 and is down to 15 now. and a large number of people have been retiring. we can't get enough people. I have had to cover 120 miles of interstate myself before and most days covering 40 miles. idk what it is going to take to get the changes we need. thanks but no thanks, I have way more firearms I need to spend money on first
  7. you going to paint my 260 build when I come down for the spring shoot? ?
  8. lol. nothing wrong with that, as I have wanted a pmr30 for a while, just low on the long list of things I want. not something I would carry or protect my home with, so it has its limitations in my opinion. I'm not rolling in the dough like some of you guys. ? actually someone high up in our command staff just denied us a 2% raise that was already approved by the state, because he didn't think we needed it. and I doubt my union is going to do anything about it, idk why I pay union dues. yay they made it so we could show arm tats... I don't have any, so useless to me. Every cop in all the counties around me with cities 2k people or more are making $3 or more an hour than me. And my agency wonders why they can't keep people or get new people. sorry, rant done. short story is I can't afford guns that are just for fun. lol.
  9. they are cool pistols, but their uses seem to be limited to fun and the zombie apocalypse.
  10. I must be one of the few that like a regular old plain and simple charging handle. I have never had any issues with them, so as long as it fits well in your upper, I say save the money and spend 20-25 bucks on something simple. but yeah it is preference. but I have never had a bad experience in the military or as a cop using the simplest charging handles there are.
  11. Yeah I am on the pores side of the argument, maybe not like pores that we have on our skin. but I have stripped guns while cleaning them, especially with machine guns in the military, that I needed to put two coats of gun oil on it because the first coat just soaked right into the metal leaving the surface dry.
  12. I think you are right, and they make it up as they go. creating a bunch of bullpoopy cases designed to take away the rights and punish good people while the real criminals hide their illegal guns.
  13. one of the biggest problem with caseless is overheating since a decent percentage of the heat created is actually removed when the case is ejected from the weapon.
  14. your pictures aren't showing for me
  15. my wife used to take my airsoft gun and shoot squirrels when we lived in on post housing on fort knox. I thought for sure the mps were gonna come nocking. lol.
  16. I completely understand, one reason I am building a .260 Remington. But recommend you take a few moments trying to find resources on shortening the barrel of a .308. you would be surprised how little difference taking off the inches really does. Also, rounds that depend on their speed are more effected by shortening the barrel. this is usually rounds that start out fast (over 3000 fps) and have poor ballistic coefficient bullets. .308 isn't a speed demon and generally runs bullets with decent BCs, this is why it can get away with running shorter barrels just fine without drastically changing the dope from long barrel to short barrel. many people even build pistol .308s that perform just fine. Now I am not going to say that a long barrel doesn't create better velocity and makes a round shoot flatter, but is the slight gain worth all the other tradeoffs? Unless you are benchrest shooter or commonly shoot 800+ yards, I would say that it isn't worth it to have long heavy barrels.
  17. sounds very unnecessary to me. up until 4 or 5 years ago I used my grandfather's old rem semiauto in .308. I forget the model, but I looked it up from the serial number and it was from 1968. I took more deer with that rifle than any other rifle, even shot one at 320 yards. Now it wasn't the most accurate rifle but it was plenty good for deer hunting and was never made as a precision rifle. After that I hunted for 2 years with his bolt action .243 from 1972 because of a motorcycle crash I was in I wanted less recoil. This rifle is still amazingly accurate and I had no problems shooting 1 moa out of it at 100 yards, and I'm not even a good precision shooter. Now not only are these things old, but they spent years sitting in a glass rifle case with infrequent cleanings and lubrication. By the time I got my hands on them, I could see they were in need of some love and will never look like they did the day they came from the factory. But even so, they perform very well and I would never think of them getting re-barreled or treated anytime soon. I think if you start out with a good barrel on a good rifle, there is no need to get your bores nitride. But hey, if you got the money, go for it.
  18. @ar-mountaineer, everything you have said you want for your rifle or what you would do with it suggests to me that you would be best with a 16 inch barrel. you are going to gain a lot more speed and maneuverability out of 16 inches because of length and weight, something important if those bears come around or if you have to protect your house from intruders, or just to make a quicker shot on a deer. plus, way more comfortable to shoot because it takes less time and effort to get set for a good shot. some people think you need these huge barrels to make long shots. now I have never shot over 600 yards really myself, but in the military I used to be able to use my m4 with 14.5in barrel out to 600 and hit a man sized target pretty easy unsupported in the prone, and that's with 5.56 which is nothing compared to .308. 16 inches will make you plenty happy with the results as long as they are good parts, and will keep your wallet a little thicker. plus with shorter barrels the benefit of it being thicker is less, saving you more and more weight the shorter you go. I carried around a machinegun for a long time, trust me, you want to save some weight. Currently my agency issued me a m16 with a 20in barrel for a lot of reasons that make me want to slam my head against a wall. I can tell you now, the majority of dangerous calls or calls involving buildings, I don't even grab my rifle because it is to long to wield in many locations. and if anyone can send you in the right direction with visual proof that .308 in a shorter barrel can take even elk at 400 yards, it is @Magwa. He has proved it time and time again and I suggest searching for some threads where he has shared those pictures.
  19. Very sad. From a town I am very familiar with, have family that have always lived there and do most of my fishing there. wish I could of met this great man before he passed.
  20. The last two bring up some social issues frequently talked about. Illegals who are criminals and tasers being expected to work when more often than not they don't function properly.

  23. Yeah full metal jacket will be fine for just practice shooting then. I often times like to look for ammo on ammoseek.com If you don't mind shooting steel case, you can find some for your rifle that is 30-32 cents a round, brass cased is a little more expensive but you can still find it for under 50 cents a round. also there is shipping to think about. this website helps you out with the shipping aspect. Trust me, you'll never look at ammo on the shelf of the local gun store again.
  24. What is your application? hunting, plinking, long rang, or whatever else? do you know what type of bullets you like or grains? Hornady you can get for as cheap as about 75 cents a round or federal and winchester about 52 cents a round. but that doesn't really help you much unless you know what type of round you want or what you want to use them for. generally speaking, more accurate/higher quality bullets are going to cost you more. but if you don't plan on shooting at great distances, you can get away with a lot more inexpensive rounds. once I know what I want, I usually look on ammoseek.com for the most inexpensive place to buy, although I buy a lot of my stuff from midwayusa.com
  25. makes me happy to see the high numbers purchased and to think about all the rifles out there protecting this country and the homes they dwell in. ?
