  1. So update Scopes showed up today ARES ETR 3-18 and ARES BTR 2.5-15 The only outstanding partys are the 5.56mm barrel( have a spare to use in the meantime) and the ERGO grip with palm shelf( have spare grip in the mean time) Now need time to put the bits together, this week/weekend shot getting ready/doing Black badge course so just looking at a pile of parts on the bench till at least mid next week.
  2. So this Sunday and Tues I'm going through the Canadian IPSC Black Badge course which is a requirement to compete in IPSC up here. One reason is that IPSC is looking to get recognized as Olympic Shooting currently is by the government. If recognized then even with the current pistol proihibition( buying, selling no longer allowed) as an IPSC shooter I'd be exempt. That being said the best thing is a change of the current government and repealing the BS brought in by the lieberals. Another plus is other ranges and shooting diciplines accept the Black Badge course. Actually busy month as Sept 3rd doing Mapleseed( Canadian Appleseed program). Is there an equivelent course for IPSC USA? or is it a Canadian thing because of our gun laws?
  3. My vote is the first patch or maybe get one made up that says "Whatta Hobby!"
  4. It's nothing like the VW Bug my mom had when I was a kid The Dillion range master was a pretty chilled dude, his girlfriend well she sure to a liking to @Rsquared but then again with he's lovable fuzzy teddy bear like personality it's understandable
  5. As an 'outsider' here are a few of my observations... Not this group here but I think a lot of Americans don't understand nor appreciate the US Constitution and Bill of Right and the frame work it lays out. To me the first thing that comes to mind is the system of checks and balances by the separation of power in the government, which is ensured through the establishment of three different branches: the executive branch, the judicial branch, and the legislative branch. All hold different powers and, therefore, can check the power of the other branches. Even with the existing US Constitution to look back at and refrence in developing it's own constitution, no country has come close. Especially in limiting the over reach of government and laying out the rights of it's citizens
  6. With a reputation as a hellraiser, Ernest “Smokey” Smith had a knack for annoying his superiors—he was promoted to corporal and then demoted back to private nine times. But when it came to battle, he more than earned his reputation as one of Canada’s greatest soldiers. In October 1944, as the Allies were pushing through northern Italy against fierce German resistance, Smith and his small platoon were sent across the flooded Savio river to secure an important beachhead. After capturing the position, they came under an intense enemy counter-attack. The Germans dispatched three Panther tanks, self-propelled artillery guns, and a horde of infantry to retake the position, pinning the Canadians down near the river. Smith didn’t waste any time—he grabbed his PIAT anti-tank bazooka and sprang into action. Under intense enemy fire, he walked to within 10 meters (33 ft) of the first Panther tank and took it out with a single shot. Once the Germans had overcome their surprise at Smith’s audacity, they sent 10 infantrymen to get rid of him. Unfazed, Smith grabbed his Tommy gun and stood his ground, killing four of the enemy and forcing the remainder to retreat. He continued to hold his position while defending a wounded comrade, forcing additional German forces to “withdraw in disorder,” before carrying his friend to safety. His platoon was so inspired by his example that they were able to hold the Germans back, securing the beachhead. Hilariously, the army later had to lock Smokey in an Italian post office overnight, just to make sure the “wild man” wouldn’t vanish before being flown to London to meet the King and receive the Victoria Cross. Years later, he cheerfully confirmed his crazy reputation: “Oh, yeah. I didn’t take orders. I didn’t believe in them.”
  7. Another great story, this man leads an interesting life.
  8. Try not to laugh to hard when I tell you we've been warned that a week long heat wave is begining this weekend. Coastal temps will get into the low 80s with interior temps reaching the mid 90s
  9. Good sir, in view of your generous offer I would only feel comfortable if we could reciprocate by gifting trudeau aka The turd
  10. So rain started last night and lasted most of the day. It helped wet things down as stuff is pretty dry around here. What makes it strange is it happened after the long weekend and not in the middle of it.
  11. Sweet looking rifle, love the colour.
  12. Really what did I ever do to you? We don't as we all ready have our own moron in charge Here I thought we were friends See response to shooterrex... Actually my friend you have Bieber, while we did send him down as a joke y'all not only let him in y'all even let him stay. As a Canadian I have to say sorry but point out we did send you Cobie Smulders With a hint of side boob just for you brother 🍻
  13. So just had a long weekend up here( BC Day) so took the opportunity to head out of town. Trees are handy and setting up the hammock is 10 min( even has netting). View from the hammock when waking up. The lake I need to get an actual camera and take more pictures
  14. Unlike the ever elusive road runner I not only look forward to seeing the rifle,I'll actually get to see the rifle. I look forward to checking out the Arken scope and looking down range. Looking through a scope at the store isn't the same.
  15. Unlike that other video you posted 🤮
  16. I'll have to see how things look at end of October and see if I can add another week off to the current vacation. Currently taking a break from tunneling( work is good but management...) so doing temp power distribution at a site 10 min from my house. Got an application in with the District 'cause they're looking for someone to look after water distribution infustructure.
  17. Damn brother keep that up and you'll out live Kieth Richards
  18. The law is so stupid up here that even though it's a bolt action rifle, because it fits into to an AR lower it would be classed as an AR rifle and thus a prohibited rifle(currently) . Even before the current madness it would still have been a restricted rifle with limitations.
  19. From what I saw at the spring shoot I have two Athlon scopes inbound. Ares BTR GEN2 2.5-15x50 and Ares ETR3 3-18x50 dealer threw in Athlon Armour scope rings. Was hoping to get Helos 4-20 BTR GEN2 put it seems they are very popular and sell out quickly I'm looking forward to checking out @shooterrex 's Arken scope this fall
  20. Based on my experience the roadrunner must be faster than the Flash, 'cause I've never seen one yet I've seen countless coyote Maybe this fall I'll see one... finally
  21. Well if we're all weird doesn't that then make us normal?
  22. So to update things Part 1- C7CT ( part two is very exciting) The C7CT will not be a side pull bolt action as origionally planned but will be a semi auto using a Canadin built version of the AR-180( which I have). Go figure that's still legal. The A2 stock is inbound probably end of week. The reciever all ready here and for now use the exsisting barrel till the ordered one arrives. The tube handguard has arrived. The Ergo grip with platform will arrive with the barrel( have regular Ergo grip till then)Still need to get the bipod Optics- Rather than go with what might be the actual optic I've decided to go with a scope whose features/retical I like. The prime contender right now is the ARES BTR GEN2 HD 2.5-15×50 APRS5 FFP IR MIL. I know several of the Arizona gang is running Athlons and seem happy with them. Part 2- OK hopefully I haven't oversold Part 2 so picture first... my undertanding is that Canada ordered 300 units and they've sold some toDenmark So the good news is I already have the following bits in house, Magpul PRS stock, a large frame AR upper/lower( Canadian denutered one),M-Lok handguard, barrel- 6.5CM 'cause that's what I have, 1-8T 416 Stainless. I have to decide on a scope, open to suggestions, something in the 5-25 approximate range? and a bipod Actual C20 rifle performance in testing, the C20 fired 8,000 rounds without any stoppages and achieved an accuracy of 0.66 MOA over 144 five round groups.
  23. Well you can, actually I could but would likely get held up in customs because of having AR-15 writen on the packaging( even tho it's legal here). So hours on the phone talking to bureaucrats and 4-5 months later it would arrive on my doorstep in a bruised battered and torn package. After installing it it would still be stuck under house arrest with al my other ARs... so yes I'm bitter.
  24. Thanks subscribed to watch the videos later
