  1. Helllo, @Fmtreading More photos of the upper, and... Upper only stripped, does the charging handle move freely. Upper/ BCG/ charging handle no barrel, do the parts reciprocate freely. Add barrel, repeat No internals, upper an lower and charging handle only, repeat... You see where I'm going with this, one part at a time until you hit the rock. I bet you wiped out your upper, but like you say hard to diagnose. As some say areound here, stick with it give us all the info we ask for and we'll get her running.
  2. +1 on the VG-6 series. Shop around, surprising the price range.
  3. I love coming home and finding gun parts in the mailbox
  4. Try it and report back! First make sure the spring is right side up. Maybe lighting the disconnector? Millspec? I have had this problem with 2 blowback. 40sw, pistol and carbine, and pistol length ar15. Different combinations of springs and buffers until it goes away is my usual approach.
  5. I run into that once in a while, I think, sometimes, its bolt slam bouncing the disconnector. Milspec fcg? Happens on lighter guns, guns with solid buffers, blowbacks with heavy solid buffers, bottom half of the magazine when top half no problem. But then, who knows?
  6. Sneak Peek, 1911 Commander 45 in SS. Just about got everything rounded up.
  7. Like I said, cant reproduce in the frame or a jig. Even trying to push/pull up/down on the on the disconnector or front of the trigger bar. Next test 1 round no mag, fire, open while holding trigger. (First thought of 2 rounds fire one, open while holding trigger back, uhh, what could possibly go wrong with that)
  8. Hello, All Shorty 7-1/2" AR15 What could possibly cause a mill spec trigger to act as a binary? Only when live firing, unable to reproduce in frame or trigger jig. Also, this trigger came out of another AR that I upgraded, worked 5X5 in that platform. Single round BCG lockback test passes. Didn't try one round no magazine. I thought I might have had a couple a while back out of 100 rounds, not even sure if they were slams or binary or finger bounce. 4 oz buffer and Sprinco white hot Put a lighter spring and buffer (Mill Spec AR15 damage industries) Pull the trigger, bang. Hold the trigger back as long as I want, release, bang. Pretty cool but... Went to the lighter spring because pistol would cycle 40 gr and 62 gr but not 55 gr. It now works with the 55's, but not expecting this. Going to try with a different FCG.
  9. We are here to help, and have a hell of a lot of fun doing it!
  10. Take a look at this thread. Fill in as many of the blanks as possible .
  11. It would be real commitment if I lived in a condo!
  12. So range report The 1911A1 fed the 230gr ball ammo like a champ, spring a little weak maybe after firing a couple rounds slide was slamming the guide rod head into the recoil shoulder hard enough to leave marks on the head, added a rubber recoil bumper ran out several clips 10mm had a light primer strike about 50% of the time. Shot really nice other then that. In my opinion, light primer strikes are usually caused by anything but the spring, so looked it over really hard, put a longer hammer spring in anyway, looked it over really really hard, seems like the hammer was just nicking the slide on the extractor side. Removed some material and polished back up, ready for range test 2. Edit, couldn't wait. Torched a few off in the basement, seems good to go!
  13. OK, ready for the range!
  14. Nice!
  15. Noreen, 30-06 and belted magnum AR's BN36X3
  16. Nice looking build. What jig do you use? Edit DUH, never mind... Did you use their lower also?
  17. Sneak Peak: Porting this afternoon. (Spent the morning fitting the barrel but nothing sexy about that unless you're into blue dye....)
  18. Pretty cool. No spacers, rough finish what is up with that? I always held Heavybuffers in high regards
  19. Right! Waitaminute, who? what? Thanks for the info on the appleseed, plan to get out to the next one here in WA. Dad just got out of the hospital, C-19, he's 84 but I bet he would give it a try also. So question, information says bring a rifle sighted in for 25M, target "presents" as 100 , 200 , etc, does that mean the targets are all set at 25M? 250 rounds sounds like a great time.
  20. That is one beefy barrel. (.936-.263)/2 would be the thickness, no? .3365+/- Thats a deep hole.
  21. Long story. After asking Fusion if a 7in bull barrel works in a 6 in slide and assured it would, ordered one. Was going to slot it to match the slide. Well, at the 6in mark it was undersized. Already fitted the hood when I noticed. No problem they said, send it back they will send another one. That was a month or two ago. Good communication from Fusion, just no barrel. Problems on a couple other orders also. Cool stuff there, but lacking execution. I'm sure they will get it straightened out eventually. So, just ordered a 6in oversized bull barrel elsewhere and yes, will port it to align with the slots. Build something else with the 7in barrel if I ever get it.
  22. welcome!
  23. thought I was ordering a .18 bit, got to be careful at McMaster Carr, miss the decimal place, no problem, they still have the bit! Correction, just put the mike on it, 0.0110. Then it broke...
  24. Loaded up a couple ladders for the 6.5CM, 123gr SSTs and 143gr ELD X with H4350. Then 500 rounds of 45ACP. Got 10 lbs of the cleanest brass I've ever seen, bro got it off Facebook something or other. Problem was it was about 15% small primer 45. What a pain, if you are listening Speer, Federal, Blazer, WTFO? Man it's hard to tell the difference by eye! And sorting brass with the progressive is not the way to fly. At least the blazer headstamp was all the small, but Fed and Speer headstamped brass came in both large and small.
  25. Still no barrel, did some hacking on the slide...
