We had a Cadet from West Point in the summer of 84 when I was in West Germany, they stuck him in 3rd Plt (aka third herd) he made the mistake in thinking he was dealing with Junior class men instead of Scouts and Tankers ( 3/7th Cav) he was bossing around the third herd inmates err umm Troopers and the Plt Sgt kept telling him to shut up and observe, a Spec 4 pulled him aside and told him in that if he didn't back off they would put him in a wall locker with a buffer and shove the wall locker out the third floor window! Needless to say he was as quiet as church mouse after that! 🤣

When I bought my DPMS Gen 2 Recon I bought Midwest industries HG to go on it, the shop I had do it has a hard time with the rockset on the muzzle device, to replace the barrel nut they had to take the gas block off. Once they replaced everything you couldn't pull the charging handle back, it seems they had twisted something trying to remove the MD, I had them fix it and I thought nothing more about it, until I noticed the rail protectors underneath the gas block kept bulging out after shooting the rifle. Once I got home I looked at the underneath side of the gas block and noticed this below. It appears that I'm missing something.

Thank you @ARTrooper and everyone else for the tips on placement. @98Z5V not sure that my scope has the Paralex knob or not I'm not sure.

I realize that this is an old topic but @Robocop1051 what are you using for a BCG is it DPMS Gen2 compatible?

Thanks to @98Z5V I fixed the way my scope was mounted, I flipped it around and ensured that the rifle and scope were level as I was tightening it down and afterwards also. One question as I am new to scopes is were to place it, i got that you need to place the mount on the receiver but I need to know how far forward or back does it need to go from where it is in the picture?
