  1. The first upper I made used a 16" YHM fluted barrel and upper receiver, both with m4 ramps, with a PWS FSC30 and a MGI bolt. It shoots awesome with everything it is fed. Most of the time it's just shooting 10 round ASC magazines. The 10 rounders are unmodified. I last replaced the RRA Operator A2 stock with a Magpul ACS-L stock. You can read about it more The second one I did was a bit simpler, for a friend. I used a barrel/bolt combo I found on GunBroker, and put them in an old Bushmaster receiver... so far, so good. It was just a simple M4 style carbine build. My current build is going CRAZY... You can see that going and
  2. I'd cut the lever off if I didn't need it. Being a South-Paw, you'd never really use the lever on regular shooting. The only reason why it doesn't "fit" a .308 it because the lever isn't bent to go through the trigger hole. If you cut the lever off, and just take advantage of the oversized real-estate, you'd gain quite a bit. Best 5 round magazine I have... Custom "Stubby" Magpul LR20
  3. So, you're saying that your friend was right... YOU couldn't make a rifle for $600. Lol
  4. What coating? I've shot hundreds of that stuff. I don't remember any coating... I'll scratch a round as soon as I get home.
  5. I take it back... A little. I wanted to shoot Red Army surplus ammo, but it only cycled American brass cased stuff. When it fired, it was moderately accurate. The mags weren't the best either.
  6. It'll fit fine, bit it won't add any additional real-estate in which to manipulate the bolt catch/release. Almost worth it to buy one of the various "extended release" products, and then cut the lever off short. Magpul Troy Phase5 Tactical Link
  7. They still suck. I had one and got rid of it the same week. You'd be better off with an SKS or AK-Variant... Or if you're like me, just build a 7.62x39 upper for your AR-15. I've built two of them so far, and I have a third about 80% finished. Just need to do some "special" work to get her running sweet. If you decide to build an upper, let me know. I have found some great places to get the parts you'll need.
  8. Montana seems to be the best place in the country to live if you want a .308 AR. SI Defense and NEMO... Plus PROOF Research is dabbling in accurized models. Check out: BAD Inc. - Ambi Safety Lever Norgon Ambi Mag Release You can put an AR15 bolt release in a .308.... but it will eventually break. Besides a Phase5 Extended release, I can't think of anything else.
  9. I would not recommend ANY of the piston conversion/retro-fit kits (ie; Osprey or Adams Arms) for a .308AR build. They are just not designed for that size of cartridge and I fear you'll be throwing away a lot of money in broken parts. Look into LWRC, POF or PWS and see if they'll sell their system separate from their rifles.
  10. Hot damn, a P7!! That's O.G. status right there. Nice shooter!
  11. Looks like a strong healthy baby. Congrats. I'll pray for mommy's speedy recovery
  12. Right fuckin on!
  13. That's an awesome video. I love this design.
  14. Mingo used a Remington-Keen in 45-70. Joe Kidd used a Ross M1910.
  15. Gamo extreme, shooting their polymer ballistic ammo, launches 1700 fps
  16. OD covered the earth for billions of years before the first FDE squirrel jumped out of an OD tree.
  17. Isn't that considered a "mobile home" in ID? <lmao> <laughs>
  18. I have some similar pics with my FiL
  19. I'm poking fun at Tom. It's an OOLLLDDD joke. I'm debated on dropping the coin for one of those M4's. I'm hoping my department invests in them. We have a bunch of the old Super 90's, and they still shoot like champs.
  20. Hemi, you must have a choate tube on there. Everyone knows those are more crooked than a Ca senator... Just ask Tom. Lol. He knows exactly what I'm talking about. Hahaha Where's that picture...
  21. I'm "that guy". I have Slash's heavy buffer and a Tubb CS flat wire spring. Even more so, I have a LAW Tactical adapter that adds a few more ounces as well. My rig shoots great.
  22. LaRue OBR shouldn't be ignored. Honestly, for a battle rifle, why stick with a 16" barrel? I'd cut off as much as I could, then weld a muzzle device on the end, then I'd flute/dimple the remaining barrel to cut more weight. Your plan for a sub 9 pound rifle is where you're going to hit issues. The best place to cut weight on a .308 will always be the barrel. The PWS rifles are pretty nice, right out of the box. LWRCi has some new models popping out as well. The new DPMS G2 Recon has all the options you spoke of.
  23. You're right. I was specifically talking about Olympic Arms.
  24. Ron makesa true DI upper. Everyone else makes a blowback upper. Ron also uses a modified Uzi or modified Grease Gun magazine. Everyone else uses proprietary magazines. The other plan would be a DDLES lower receiver. The one that uses Glock magazines.
