  1. Lol, I'm such a bad example for CCW. I carry my Walther PPK/s in my waistband and a 2 shot .357 Derringer in my jacket pocket. When I'm in a good mood, in a heavy winter jacket, I wear my SA TRP Operator (full rail) with CMC Power 10+ mags strapped to my hip. Hoping to replace it with a Kimber TLE/RL Pro soon.
  2. The R25 is made by DPMS. I've handled them, and for $1200 it's a darn good rifle! Lightweight, sturdy and comfortable. No Sparta-Ninja-Delta-Black Ops features on the R25, just plain ol' auto rifle. It even comes with a 4 round mag.
  3. I'm just funnin you. Only Armalite makes the AR10. DPMS makes the LR-308 series. KAC makes the SR25... And so on, and so on. Btw, I'm super jealous about those hunts!
  4. Stick with name brands that hunters recognize. Remington makes a fine 308AR that is designed for the hunter, not the armchair soldiers and paper assassins. I've never seen a Remington that let me down. The fact that they have been around for 100+ years and still pump out modern age weapons is awesome as well n
  5. You'll need a pistol grip. I don't understand why you picked so many top shelf parts, then threw in some Spikes stuff. Spikes is ok for a budget rifle, but there are much better parts out there. I didn't know they made a LPK for the 308 yet. That SI Defense BCG is gonna be sexy, but unless you locked in a pre-order those cost $600 now. :o A Yeoung Mfg carrier w/ a JP bolt and a VTAC handguard would save you some money for other features, like a nice scope.
  6. Uh oh, grammatical faux pas! That's like driving a Ford Corvette. Nice looking deer though. How much meet did you end up harvesting by the end of the season? A big neg here in Cali is our two deer max, and only bucks. Gets rough shooting at little coastal deer and maybe getting 100 pounds by the end of the season.
  7. I'm jumping on the gas tube bandwagon. If you're absolutely positive the length is correct, and that the gas block is seated properly... What about the roll pin location? Could the roll pin hole on the tube be out of spec so that the tube is seated too deep in the gas block? Could the roll pin hole on the gas block be out of spec? I can't imagine an upper being 1/4" out of spec. That's a lot of distance for machined parts.
  8. Now if only I can convince my department into letting me build a number of these for my patrol officers. Otherwise we'll never see one of these in California... Until someone makes a left side bullet button :P In all honesty, my Mega ambi AR15 would function near identical with a Norgon button installed. The price tag on the AXTS receiver is pretty steep in comparison. For the record, all my AR's have BAD-ASS units! Roger, you guys at BAD, Inc. have outdone yourselves in quality and service. Ps. I just met a guy who does TiN coating. I plan on testing it on the BADASS spindle/core as soon as possible. That should get her workin real smooth <thumbsup>
  9. I didn't realize that "budget" scopes went into the $500-$600 range. Personally, I'm currently looking at the Vortex Viper PTS 2.5-10x44 EBR-1 MOA. A decent looking scope for under $600. I can shoot 10x all day, to the max range of any of my rifles. I'm hoping this lasts me a LONG time so I don't feel pressured into a NF or CS anytime soon. My wallet is going to file a restraining order against me.
  10. <lmao> Now that is funny right there. <thumbsup>
  11. You're gonna need a stainless or hard chrome magazine to match up for picture quality! I remember those old wood kits. They had to be finished by the builder. I found a guy who made really nice finished stuff, but he wanted $300-$400 for the set. I'm trying to talk a buddy into needing one, jut so I can build it.
  12. Damn, I knew this would go fast. Nice grab Drew. <thumbsup>
  13. Yeah, 98z5V is right. I just picked up a bunch of Port NATO 7.62 for about $0.50 a round.
  14. Good to have another RRA owner around to answer questions. A lot of us stand around looking like <dontknow>
  15. I'm sorry about all the questions.. Can you confirm if these are for the 308 or the AR15?
  16. Color? Location?
  17. I'm very envious right now. I wanted to try a built like that some years ago, but the quality of wood was either really cheap or REALLY expensive. She's turning out beautifully.
  18. Whoa baby! A Novak/Bomar mount. I am very tempted to replace my Springfield TRP Operator sights. I was never really a fan of adjustable sights.
  19. <laughs>
  20. Looks like someone is going to need one of Rogers S/S BADASS units and a Young Mfg BCG. They'll look beautiful matching that shiney barrel.
  21. I run a Magpul MS2 on my AR15 with 3 QD sling mounts, one on the hand guard, one at the receiver end plate and one near the end of the butt stock. I wanted options, lol. My other rifle (308) has one fixed sling mount at the receiver end plate. This was because I was cutting weight to stay close to 7lbs.
  22. I'll be damned if they aren't proud of their build. Look at that price tag. I'm always irked by new companies that think they can sell their never seen before build for the same price as a rifle built by an established company like JP Rifle or Christiansen Arms. The rifle looks good and clean, but besides the piston and left side charging handle it's kind of plain. Nothing very innovative or ground breaking. POF already has a piston version and I like the JP (and Kaiser, if they ever come back) left side charge better. I'll be honest, I didn't read far into the F&D page. If they offer a package and/or guarantee a sub MOA, that might change my opinion about the deal. A prime example of new companies earning their keep and possibly deserving their price tag is the AXTS firearms. Insanely expesive receivers, but fully ambidextrous, billet made, with a custom look and feel. I feel their new design may have knocked one out of the park.
  23. I have to say, I was hoping for a mass 123-125gr, but the 115 still has a nice ring to it. Now I'm going to have to make this for sure. So much for that 7.62x39 build.
  24. You know the first ones to go are the Occu-tards at Wall Street. The only thing I plan on occupying tomorrow is the chair in front of my Sunday football.
