Getting a LW 16" barrel, with a Ti muzzle device, will reduce your weight (and barrel swing) without toying with function or having to deal with pinning/welding the device. A Faxon LW barrel with a 2A Armament Ti device would be a HUGE weight reduction. The Faxon "Gunner" is slightly heavier, and I think a better barrel.

@edgecrusher has a 14.5" PWS... @98Z5V has a 13.7" AR-10 build... I have shot both, and can swear by the both of them. The 13.7" is a BEAST. That being said, I don't know Double Star, so I can't speak on their behalf. If you are interested in building your own, we can definitely help you find the parts. You could always strip the barrel off your GenII and we can have that sonbitch chopped off. It's only be a about $100-$150 to get that thing humming again. Might need an adjustable GB and a new buffer weight?? (I thought you were downsizing, not adding to the stable?)

I’ve been wearing bob mernickles holsters for YEARS. Bob is crazy and eccentric, but he makes GREAT holsters. I think I have 5 or 6 of them now. My 1911’s all have one, my derringer is a cross draw, my wife even has a few. Kydex holsters look cool, but I like to keep my gear a little more “cowboy”.

I’ve been debating the exact opposite... a long slide on a compact frame. The new BROWNELLS G19L slide and barrel look promising.

It’s not a magazine extension. It is just the longer magazine, with the extension “sleeve“. The sleeve just slides over the long magazine, and fills the gap between the grip and the base plate. I almost ordered the +1 Mag extension for my 9rd mags. Then I found that Pro-Mag made an 11 round mag for the XDS. The magazine is getting good reviews, and they're only $20 apiece. I’m all over that shit, like Tom on crazy.

You gotta pick ONE brother. You can't have it all in one upper. Honestly... The Faxon 16" or 18" Gunner barrels are more barrel than what 99.9% of the shooters will ever surpass in ability. I personally wasted $$$ on a PROOF CF wrapped barrel, and if I could go back I's slap myself I would. Build the 22" heavy 6.5cr... Then build the lighter 16" .308win. While they each have a task, I'll bet dollars to dimes you shoot the 16 incher 100x more than the big fat paper killer.
