  1. I’ve been telling myself that I want to go this route again. I got rid of my M1A years ago with the expectation to pick up a Scout to replace it. Just as I was getting ready to grab one, my buddy grabbed the Socom and I fell in love.... damnit!!! I can’t touch one in CA for under $1,700.
  2. Plissken? I heard you were dead.
  3. hope you have a fire retardant wallet. They tend to scorch as you whip your card in and out of it. It gets worse later, when th old lady catches you buying something online... she’s not pissed you’re buying anything... she’s shocked you memorized a 16 digit credit card number, a 4 digit expiration and a 3 digit security code. Especially because she knows you only use it for gas and shopping at BROWNELLS.
  4. I like their muzzle devices. Kinda hard to argue $35 for decent comp/brake. They were one of the few to address the CA issues. They made two fin grips that are SIGNIFICANTLY less expensive than all the kydex competition. I started buying them myself.
  5. Pros: it’s a take down system. So you can put a big ass rifle in a small case. You could also build a second barrel assembly and run a different caliber or swap from a lightweight tactical build to a heavy target build. Con: the only con I can think of is the lack of decent handguard options available. This set up has become very popular with AR pistols. The SB Tactical brace provides a great place to store the barrel assembly. A few guys have married the Dolos with the LAW folding adapter. They remove the barrel, fold the pistol brace, then store the barrel in the brace kit. You can fit a decent sized pistol into a VERY small bag.
  6. This pic has been floating around a lot lately. I don’t see the attraction to a heavy aluminum handguard.
  7. That’s the one. Pantheon is the company that makes the Dolos.
  8. The Dolos is a takedown system for the AR. It has a special barrel nut that holds the barrel tight and realigns FAST.
  9. It’s actually just a regular ole AR pistol... that happens to be in California... which makes it an evil weapon of mass destruction.
  10. That’s a great looking stick. Nice haul too. The new handguard mates to the set up very well.
  11. As far as mag swaps and reloading... fastforward to 01:50 cant reload 6 shells that fast.
  12. Are the mags proprietary?
  13. stuck it on a little “FuckYouCalifornia” piece I worked on for a buddy. This Dolos takedown system is pretty sweet. I’m trying to think up another build because of it.
  14. The SR-25, LR308 and AR-10 format rifles all use a 1:16 TPI barrel extension.
  15. I’m with ya FreQ. I went featureless on mine.
  16. My dad pieced the Winchester together in a string of good luck. It’s a complete Winchester, but it took two or three rifles to make it. For those that don’t know. Military weapons were made in parts back then. A company made only a few parts at a time, then shipped those parts out to be assembled with other parts. A complete military rifle often had several different mfg stamps on it. During all of the big wars, every capable machine shop was commissioned to fabricate parts for firearms. There are some very famous names stamped on th side of military weapons, that you’d never normally associate with the gun world.
  17. You could just file the tail, at the end of the bolt, and get the same clearance. There are several companies that actually make their bolts with this modification already put in place. This way there’s no issue on needing a special firing pin
  18. I have had three M1 carbines over the years. One was a Rockola, one was a Singer and I still have the Winchester. There was a guy making them in 10mm a while back. He probably would’ve done a LOT better if he went to the 9mm instead.
  19. Only if you need several rounds. If you only need one or two rounds, you can easily do an in-battery load swap. We do quick swaps from buck to slugs all the time.
  20. The M1 carbine is one of my most loved rifles. Probably the best conceived firearm of the time.
  21. I could easily enter either side of the argument. There is an obvious attraction to being able to quickly slap a magazine into a SBS system, that normally would only have 3–5 rounds of capacity. On the flipside a shotgun is one of the worst weapons you could take into a combat situation or gunfight. No matter how “tactical” you make your shotgun, it does not change the fact that it is a mission/task specific, utilitarian, firearm. Five to ten 12ga shells will never equal the combat effectiveness of a 20/30/40 round magazine fed rifle. A moderately trained rifle operator should easily be able to put an entire magazine into a target before a shotgun operator runs his weapon dry. Going back though, a rifle operator will never have the option of using a Less- lethal round, a breaching round, an emergency flare, or a chemical device. At the same time, you’ll never see a precision shot, at any distance, with a shotgun... I saw they made a Tac–14 DM, But my first thought was… “It could be made it smaller.” There’s no need for a 14 inch barrel if you’re not worried about tube capacity, and if you added an SB pistol brace. I’m definitely interested in rigging up a PDW brace, similar to the old SAGE Int stocks, then cutting the front off to meet the 26.1” requirement.
  22. It’s only a matter of time before someone creative makes an 8” AOW version. Or a 12 inch “firearm” with a pistol brace.
  23. I grabbed one. It’ll look good on my x39 Pistol.
