  1. I ordered 300 of the Faxon 16” gunner barrels. They are good shit! If you believe “ounces equals pounds” then know the pencil barrel is 2.55 ounces lighter than the gunner. Talk your wife out of an 18” and down to a 16”. Unless you’re stretching to over 400 yards, you won’t notice a change in accuracy or performance. Get the Gunner and a Ti has block and muzzle device. All the swing-weight will be at the receiver, and the perceived weight will be very controllable.
  2. I’ll swing by their table early and ask about “swag”.
  3. Read a SyFy book about this about 20 years ago. First they made anti-personnel drones, then they had to make anti-Drone drones to stop the first. Drones shrunk and shrunk till they were near nanite size and wars were fought by these micro/nanite drones. People were forced to wear respirators everywhere due to the mass amounts of drone particles floating in the air.
  4. If I were saving weight, I’d start with a DPMS Gen II AP4. It weighs in at 7.25 lbs. I’d replace the front sight gas block with a low profile version and then the plastic handguard with an Apex CNC free float tube. Add a grip of your choice, and a MFT Minimalist stock for additional weigh drop. A decent muzzle brake will run about $60-$100. Of course a 10rd M3 PMAG would be in order... I had midwestPX make me a custom “stubby” mag for hunting it holds 5 rounds and barely sticks out of the magwell. You should be near 7 lbs before adding an optic. If you had a spare $100 laying around... remove the barrel entirely, then ship it out to be recontoured to a lighter configuration. Adco or ar15barrels.com are the first places that come to mind. You may have other resources closer or more familiar to you. No reason at all that you couldn’t make a complete sub-8 lbs rifle. Next best thing... Ruger GSR Scout with synthetic stock or a Mossberg MVP Patrol. They’re bolt rifles, but magazine fed (Ruger = AI mags, Mossy = PMAG) and built on age proven chassis, the M77 and 4x4. My deer rifle is a synthetic GSR with an AAC brake and 2x Scout scope. It’s a 200 Yard fur slayer!!
  5. The next trip is going to be soooo epic.
  6. More focused on the snakes with legs.
  7. I don’t want to say too much… But there is a magnesium recipe for a 37mm Dragon’s breath shell… Just sayin’.
  8. I grabbed some of these at Cabelas yesterday... i plan on loading up my little carry Derringer with a pair of these. I watched a video that showed a Derringer was actually getting a usable pattern with these. The spread is about 1” per foot. This #4 shot will fukc up somethings day real fast. I cant wait to blast a few and get back to you guys.
  9. Oooohhhhhh TooooommmmmAaasssssss!!!! just dropped coin on a huge reloading pack... of of course I couldn’t resist myself, so I bought the 12ga “marine flare” adapter... the options to build are almoat unlimited. They have several home-recipes. just as as I promised, I got their contact info. They said they no longer sell their Gen2 model due to too many conflicting LE/Gov contracts... but then they hit me with their “Gen3” model... motherfucker!!! this thing in boarderline weightless! It comes as a underbarrel picatinny accessory, as a pistol kit (seen above), or as a stand alone system (similar to mine). Best part is that it can accept high pressure rounds, almost identical to the 40mm!! The new Gen3 also has a removable tube that can be swapped for longer/shorter versions, it can convert into a grappling hook launcher, or even a “soda can launcher” (apparently Can Canon is copyrighted) that uses a 5.56 blank adapter. I definitly need to get my DD license now!!!
  10. The first picture looks like the insert that’s inside my brake. The second picture looks kinda like a 74 brake. If it is, I didn’t know it had a specific name????
  11. (Seen on top, installed on my new .308) Craig “Sawman” Sawyer took my rifles out to play a few days ago. He and I both got a chance to play with this new-ish stock. It installs on a Mil-spec carbine receiver extension. It uses an Allen set screw to fix to a specific slot. I set it for the same length I would normally extend a stock to. With the push of a button, the spring loaded butt pad automatically extends about 2 inches out. This length can be adjusted by the user with fixed settings . A cheek piece also adjusts (in a similar manner as the Magpul PRS). For a combat rifle, I don’t need a fully collapsing stock. This stock allows me to quickly transition from a combat/mobile stance, down to a comfortable prone position, with the simple push of a button. It also has QD attachment points for sling mounts Of course I put the extra pad on it. It’s a decent pad, and does exactly what it’s supposed to do. There’s a picatinny rail at the 6 o’clock, for attaching a monopod... even one of those magazine storage grips, if that’s your flavor. I haven’t noticed any fragility issues yet. It seems to be made from better than “Chinese-Hasbro” plastic. Bonus points is that AB Arms stands for “American Built”. That’s damned near reason enough to buy it. • lightweight, lighter than lots of collapsing stocks and almost every fixed stock I can think of. • sturdy “enough”. It doesn’t feel like a Magpul product (who we have to admit is the king of the industry) but it feels better than an SI and about par with a MFT. • value is decent. I think I got the whole set-up for about $75-$80. Not the cheapest option out there, but the PRS and UBR are still demanding over $200. • features are amazing! I don’t think there’s a stock that offers more, in such a light package, for such an affordable price. If if I made one change to the stock... I’d change the set screw to an adjustment button. Being able to collapse is great for storage. If being able to store/transport was a primary necessity, then I would just add a LAW tactical folding stock adapter and call it a win.
  12. Let’s chop the barrel!!!
  13. Omg. You have no idea how long it took to get the piston in line. There’s no markings on the barrel or gasblock for a TDC.
  14. If LAW helps me out and this goes back, I see an AGP Folding stock in the future.... or maybe no stock at all?!?
  15. Because we don’t have one yet.... i bought myself a Spike’s Tactical HAVOC-9 37mm flare launcher and attached it to a Spike’s KAOS Chassis. I really built this because; 1. I wanted to surprise 98Z5V when I went to visit him, and 2. It’s cool AF!!! Needless to say, 98z was excited (sorry for the dark video) well in my normal fashion, I couldn’t leave well-enough alone... I had a spare LAW Tactical adapter that had become worn out. The Gen2 models were all aluminum and didn’t hold up long for me. Not sure if it was the life on the .308, or the brief visit to my .338 project??? Ends up that the lock up isn’t as strong anymore and the loose fit is causing my receiver extension to flex at the joint. This flex causes failures during cycling. I’m still working on getting some attention from LAW, but in the meantime it’ll TOTALLY work for this project!!!
  16. So after playing this weekend, I finally pulled this fucker off the shelf and completed it. Sure wish I got off my lazy ass before I went to AZ. Here’s a few pics of the pistol length piston system: i got a wild hair up my ass and really wanted to put a handguard cap inside... I had an extra triangle model, so I relieved the corners to fit inside. It should now act like a baffle to keep debris from the piston. here’s a better view of the little bastard really shoe-horned in there. I had to relieve a lot of handguard material to make enough room for the piston system. i updated the OP with a final picture of the upper completely assembled.
  17. That 13.5” is a bad bitch! I blasted the hell out of it. Im sold on it. I WILL HAVE ONE. Just not sure if I want to brake it or pig it. A pig sticking out of a 15” Apex tube would be mighty awesome.
  18. You don’t need a hosting service anymore. You can upload directly to here.
  19. Yeah. I’d drill out a 1” hole, then plug and re-drill. I suck at welding aluminum though. I’d probably just spot weld three or four spots, and call it even. Although, I believe the OP has some milling equipment/skill, so ugly welding can be covered up pretty easily.
  20. If you have safety issues, it’s possible to patch aluminum and redrill the hole.
  21. The greater amount of your accuracy comes from your barrel, and then you’re trigger. Don’t skimp on those. Luckily parts are nowhere near as expensive as they used to be, for good quality. Rifle and Carbine buffer systems are equally effective. Pick furniture you like, and build up from there. My personal target rifle used a Carbine length system with a fixed stock. I’m not very tall and I prefer compact formats.
  22. I have three pairs of 5.11 ATAC boots with safety toe. Two failed at the zipper before the shoe died. Third pair are in a locker for “just in case”. Wearing Altama mids now. Still want to grab a pair of Merrell Tactical MOAB boots.
  23. You’re going to make me want a shorty .308 now. You SOB.
  24. I’ve had a Tubb CS Flat spring and a 10 oz buffer for almost 7 years. No damage.
