97 here in Mass with 73% humidity, 8th day in a row over 95. Add 20* and that's work temps. I am par broiled.

Lothar LW50 barrels are, but who knows if you can get one. The rainier barrel has a good twist rate for stabilizing bullets up to 175gr or so, and think you'd do fine by it

It's the tube that is ruining your day. Also I would change out the buffer and spring for proper 308ar parts from Clint at Heavybuffers.com. I run his heavy stuff on all my ar's, big and small, including my OBR. You will decrease recoil and follow up shots will be much faster, and yes, you can keep the SOPMOD.
