Yes, please. Buy all, if possible and feasible. I'll start sending care packages to pay this down... -
HARDEST AMMO TO FIND IN 2022?

Hell yeah, brother. It's the only caliber I have available right now for any kind of distance. I'll start making paycheck allotments to you... -
Those 1" cubed pieces of pork belly, on a BORROWED smoker, in the middle of the dirt... I rest my case.
-
Oh, buuulllshiit, you're not 1/2 a cook. Not even. Smoker, grill, whatever, you crush it. OBVIOUSLY... your photography doesn't suck, either. I disagree with you, respectively, on both points that you just tried to raise. All the way disagree...

That kid will grow up like me, be handicapped by Natural Immaturity, and forever be a Complete Smartass. Throughout life. It's both a blessing, as well as a curse. I'm just sayin'....

Dude, why does it look like all your damn food pictures belong on a fucking MENU?!!?

DAMNIT!!!!

Crazy - here's the link to this writeup on this board, that the LT-745 image was pulled from. Wasn't even the 745, it was the 158 mount pic. The interwebz is weird. Here's the real 745 mount:
-
You can get the LaRue LT-745 in 20 MOA - and nobody knows about that mount, so it's always in stock... Wow, this is fuckin' WEIRD... I run Firefox as a browser with DuckDuckGo loaded as my search engine. I type in LaRue LT-745 and here are the results. Under the images section, MY GUN comes up... Check it: https://duckduckgo.com/?q=LaRue+LT-745&t=newext&atb=v364-1&ia=web This is the direct image: https://duckduckgo.com/?q=LaRue+LT-745&iax=images&ia=images&iai=https%3A%2F%2Fforum.308ar.com%2Fuploads%2Fmonthly_2022_08%2FIMG_0892.JPG.6503666047518aa14f84e33e2cd2f856.JPG&t=newext&atb=v364-1 Anyway - here's the mount on LaRue's website brother. Just select 20 MOA, your 30mm ring size, and run with scissors. It's the exact same price now for the bolt-down Legacy VFZ mounts as it is the the QD lever mount, so just get the QD version. VFZ mounts used to be $50 cheaper, but not in these times anymore. Basically, the QDs are free now...
-
LaRue LT-158 mount. The price is hard to swallow, at $258 now, but it's got 10 MOA built into it, and it's the lowest height-over-bore of any one-piece cantilever mount that they make (1.44"). It's this one: https://www.larue.com/products/larue-tactical-spr-s-mount-lt158/ It's worth it's weight on gold, QD levers for packing, guaranteed within 1/2 MOA if you take it off and remount it on the same gun, and I can vouch for a pile if these things. I'd test them, and run over them with my truck, but people have done stuff like that for years already, just to prove that they're strong as shiit. That 4-20 Athlon Helos is mounted in one, sitting on top of the LaRue 16" 6 ARC upper. I honestly can't even count how many of these things I have, unless I pulled everything out and counted them, but there's a bunch. I only deviated one time, and bought the LT-745 mount, because the 158 mount was so far backordered and I needed something quicker-than-waiting. Tell you what - if you decided on that mount, picked it up, and further decided you didn't like it - I'll buy it off you at full price paid, including what it took to ship it to you, and adding what it would take to ship it to me. I believe in those mounts.

I think that's you're best option - you have it pretty well defined, in what you want and what you need. I don't think that scope will suck for you - I think you'll be pretty damned happy with it.
-
There IS a difference in the HD glass, I'll say that right now. I shoot at night, ALOT. My criteria for shooting at night is a different perspective. I judge a scope's illumination differently. If it can't dial down enough to shoot at night, and blow out the target - because it's too bright, and blows out the target - then it sucks, and goes on something else I'll never shoot at night. Or, I'll straight out get rid of it. Outright. Scope illum for me needs to dial down to "I almost can't see it, so I need to go up another click." <<< I'm happier that way. "Too dim" on the lowest setting is WAY BETTER than, "lowest setting is SO BRIGHT it blows the target out with RED..." I've never had an Athlon scope that I can't dial down enough to shoot at night. I'm talking 450 yards minimum, night, sometimes zero-illum from the moon, but more than not there's some illum. There's almost always moonlight. Can't get away from it. That 2-12 that I have is a different scope than you're asking about. Mine is the Helos BTR Gen 2, 2-12. It's is a badass little scope. Dials down perfect, for the illum, fantastic glass quality edge to edge, clear, just love it. You're asking about that SFP scope, and I don't own any SFP scopes. The one you're asking about, 2-12, is the Argos HMR, this one, I think: https://athlonoptics.com/product/argos-hmr-2-12x42-ahmc-sfp-moa/ ^^^ Looks like there's a BDC version of that scope, and an MOA version of that scope. Verify that the BDC version will match up to your caliber and muzzle velocity, before you buy it, it's that's the one you're looking at. The MOA version won't matter for speed. It's just MOA. However, since you asked about the two of them, that Midas 2.5-15 blows it away. FFP, though. Holy Hell, is that a badass little scope. My $0.02. Keep asking questions -we'll find the scope you need for you.

You need a couple Mallard ducks. Just because. They spice the "chicken life" right up, for the chickens... Ducks are assholes. But, they make the chickens produce...

Doc is a damned great "chicken ambassador" I have to add. Holy fuk is he getting big.

Pistol Brace Update, from 7 Jun 21

Eat It, ATF - your time is coming, and you're about to be put in your place. Just like EPA got put in THEIR place. This shiit is coming to and end, for you "regulatory agencies." You don't get to "invent" new laws, especially laws with Felony ramifications... ATF... You boys better Brace Yourselves. It's about to get Dry-Docked right in your asses. Yeah, no lube. Jammed in. https://www.foxnews.com/politics/gop-moves-block-bidens-pistol-brace-rule-abuse-rule-making-authority GOP moves to block Biden’s pistol brace rule: ‘Abuse of rule-making authority’ GOP Reps Andrew Clyde and Richard Hudson will introduce a CRA resolution against the rule on Monday EXCLUSIVE: House Republicans this week will take a step toward blocking the Biden administration's new rule that tightens regulations on pistol stabilizing braces, and call the rule an "abuse" of federal authority. The rule, called Factoring Criteria for Firearms with Attached Stabilizing Braces, took effect on Jan. 31 after it was finalized by the Bureau of Alcohol, Firearms, Tobacco and Explosives (ATF). It will treat any firearms with stabilizing accessories as short-barreled rifles, which require a federal license to own under the National Firearms Act. According to Republicans, the rule would require gun owners to either register pistols with stabilizing braces with the ATF, turn over those firearms, or face 10 years in jail and up to $10,000 in fines.\ Reps. Andrew Clyde, R-Ga., and Richard Hudson, R-N.C., are leading the effort in the House of Representatives, and plan to introduce a Congressional Review Act (CRA) resolution on Monday. The resolution would nullify the Biden administration rule if passed by the House and Senate and signed by President Biden, or if Congress were to override a likely Biden veto. "Congress must swiftly move to block the ATF’s unconstitutional pistol brace rule, as this misguided measure turns millions of law-abiding gun owners, including many disabled veterans, into criminals for merely possessing legal firearms with stabilizing braces," Clyde told Fox News Digital ahead of the introduction of the measure. Clyde told Fox that the ATF's "abuse of rule-making authority" would violate the Constitution and disregard Congress' legislative authority, and was "nothing more than a reckless attempt to advance President Biden’s ultimate goal of an unarmed America." "As a fierce defender of our Second Amendment freedoms and one of the few federal firearms licensees in Congress, I’m proud to help lead the fight against the ATF’s latest assault on our unalienable right to keep and bear arms," he added. Hudson echoed Clyde's warning of the rule's affront to the rights of gun owners across the country. "This rule jeopardizes the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding gun owners and disabled combat veterans. I’m proud to lead the fight in blocking the ATF’s unconstitutional pistol brace rule," he told Fox News Digital. A similar resolution was introduced in the Senate last week by Sens. John Kennedy, R-La., and Roger Marshall, R-Kan. Gun Owners of America (GOA), a gun rights advocacy group, told Fox News Digital it was fully supportive of both resolutions, and that it had worked with Clyde and Marshall to draft them. It also dismissed any notion that the Biden administration was operating within its means to enforce the rule. "Biden’s ATF has no authority to mandate that the owners of up to 40,000,000 pistols destroy, turn in, rebuild, or register those guns with the federal government before their arbitrary May 31st compliance deadline," Aidan Johnston, GOA's Director of Federal Affairs, said in a statement. Other Republican lawmakers also slammed the new rule after it was finalized by the ATF in January, calling it an "unconstitutional overreach" and a "gun registration and confiscation scheme." Last month, the National Rifle Association was joined in a lawsuit against the Biden administration over the rule by SB Tactical, B&T USA, wounded warrior Richard Cicero, and a coalition of 25 states led by West Virginia Attorney General Patrick Morrisey and North Dakota Attorney General Drew Wrigley. States signing onto that effort were Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Utah, Virginia and Wyoming. -
Just buy a Kestrel 5700. It'll tell you what your Relative Humidty is, right then. /Done. Probably tell you the Relative Humidity off your cousin's ass, too... It's that good... Get the Elite, with the Applied Ballistics calculator loaded into it. If it doesn't say "Applied Ballistics" on the face - you have the wrong software installed. I've heard that the newer ones state "ELITE BALLISTICS" and that's still the "Applied Ballistics" software - do your research first. Make sure. Good! This one down here...vvv Don't buy it if it doesn't say Applied Ballistics, just sayin'... Here's an example... vvv There's a Ruger version, and a Hornady 4DOF version... I'm not saying that those two ballistics solvers suck - I'm just sayin' that the Applied Ballistics solver is WAY MO' BETTAH... That's all... All the way to your cousin's ass...

Might be worth the risk. I'm just sayin'...

Pretty cool piece of history, great find, brother! I love stuff like this. -
This new-ish 7mm-08 thing... 0.284" projectiles... The Hornady 175 ELD-X projectile has a G1 drag of .689. This thing should be BAD. Hornady states 1:8.5" twist minimum, but my WC 18" barrel is 1:9" twist. We'll see if I can make this thing work. I hope it does. I REALLY hope it does. Time will tell... LOTS of time... If I can't get those things to group, because Hornady is correct on minimum twist, then I have to back down to the 162gr ELD-X, with a .630 G1 - which definitely doesn't suck, at all. They state minimum twist of 1:9.5" on that one, so I know that one will work well. I just want to strike gold with those 175s... Alright, enough about that, no more talk on it. /Done. I'll work out details on it much later. No more thread-jack.

My .260 loves Hornady 147s, all day long. Go heavy. Hornady also has the 153gr A-Tip, but that's just projectiles. I'm not ready to blow out $100 for 50 of those things yet, but that will get me one day, and I'll do it, load them, love them, then get poorer. This is the vicious circle of life, in this community. The 147 ELD-Match that I load has a G1 BC of .697, which is just fucking silly. That 153 A-Tip has a G1 drag of .704 - which I'm not ready to drop additional coin on, for such a small gain. There's also a 143gr ELD-X... Expanding projectile that's rolling a G1 drag of .625, which is very badass for an expanding projectile. I'd shoot a moose at 800 yards with that thing, hands down, knowing how this .260 shoots already. Never thought I'd ever say this - but I don't want to paint that gun. That thing is sexy AF just like it sits, brother.

Here's some more on Frames and Receivers, and the smack in the mouth BATFE received. They got bloodied. -
This is what got me, for decades. Shot a Gen 1 17 back in the 1989-1991 timeframe, friend owned it. I hated it, and "they ALL suck!" for decades after that. Right after SIG paid off the Army and underbid that MHS contract, and won it, I looked at the Glock that got beat. The 19X. Bought that thing right away. This is what got me about that 19X. I shoot right hand and left hand. Train like you might need to do that someday, my mantra. Sonofabitch, I shot that brand new 19X better left-handed than any of the Kimbers that I own, or any other pistol I've trained that with. I shot the living piss out of it right handed... Gen 5, I was sold. Shortly thereafter, a 43X followed me home as a carry gun, once it would pass my carry test. It did, flying colors.
