    Shirt payment

I'm in, brother! I'll go back through the thread and gather the payment details, then get the stuff out to you right away. <thumbsup>
  2. This isn't a guessing game, like "Who's on First?!" with Abbott and Costello. Redefine your original post, and tell us what you're looking for.
  3. That's why DPMS makes extruded uppers. Not true at all - there are many companies out there now making rails for BOTH screwed up sizes of DPMS upper receivers. New, old, doesn't matter. You can find a great rail out there for either.
  4. Give more details now - how is your rifle running?
  5. Best bet is to Google the part number, and search through the field. Here's a sample search - don't be offended. http://lmgtfy.com/?q=Magpul+LR20

Schit, I missed this boat completely. Let me know when/if you do another run. I'm an XL kinda guy. Fcuk me...
  7. I'd risk it. <thumbsup>
  8. That ammo is mil-surp, and it's 30 years and 7 months old, right now. You can't guarantee that it was ever stored properly, at all, and the brass isn't schit by now. Get some NEW, good ammo, shoot it, and see what happens. I'd be curious. Also, that was the first round - it's brand new. You need to run a few through it to see how everything functions. That first round is kinda like putting ten targets up, firing one round apiece at them, hitting the dead center on one, and saying "My rifle is dead nuts ON!" You need to see the variation in more rounds fired, before you can really judge what the rifle is doing. My $0.02.
  9. Very, very interesting device. Read the details in the link: http://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2013/08/18/sig-sb15-pistol-stabilizing-brace-review/ Before everyone that doesn't read the link gets in a huff, that was/is a registered SBR in that pic, and that's the only way a "pistol" would be legal with a forward vertical grip...
  10. Pack that full-sized AR in a case as small as the one in the picture, or pack it in a small(er) backpack if you're in the wilderness. That's the whole reason I went with the LAW Tactical Folding Stock Adapters - pack rifle-caliber firearms into a backpack that doesn't look like there's a full-sized AR in there. Stealth, when you need/want stealth.
  11. Sources, as in who makes them, or currently in stock stuff?
  12. BRD51, here's your avatar photo:
  13. R2... Armalite AR-10 lowers forged?... <dontknow>
  14. My $0.02...
  15. Haven't heard of any issues with JP bolts, or their ejectors. You have to look at what's going on - if the spent cartridge is pulled from the chamber, the extractor is working. If the brass is getting out of the rifle, the ejector is working. If either of those things are not occurring, then look at the part that's not doing it's job. If the rifle is clean, and all the parts work, it should run, almost flawlessly, until it's either too hot to run right, or too dirty to run right. That should be thousands of rounds.
  16. Pretty sweet setup! At first, just from the link, I thought it looked like an Aero Precision/Armalite COP upper. Not the case. This is more like a Ruger 10/22 Takedown. Nice!
  17. I don't see it that way, man - I'm glad you brought it up. Now, we know what you're looking for - the process of troubleshooting on these things. Now that it's known, drive on from here. There IS a lot of info in this thread about that already - I hope you didn't think you received no answers. The only reason I feel confident in a lot of my answers is this: I've got over 20 years of experience watching Soldiers fcuk up weapons. I've seen it all. Some of those guys (and girls) could break an anvil in a sandpit.
  18. But then I was accused of trying to solve a specific problem and not giving all the info... which is not what I was doing. Honestly, the way the whole thread went, it looked like you were asking for help, on a specific issue, and wanting help in fixing it - I'm just telling you from what I saw. I was out of the whole thread, from about post #6, until I read the whole thing a couple days ago. Look at it from the other's perspective, here. It honestly looked that way. I can definitely understand getting pissed trying to help someone, then finding out they're trying to use an extended-length custom 9mm buffer, because (a) they didn't know what to buy in the first place, or (b) bad product description upon purchase. Been through it, the diagnosing, without sufficient details. It's aggravating. I'll give you another perspective to look at - motorcycle repair. Someone calls you on the phone, gives very vague details about something, but then wants to know exactly what's wrong with their bike and exactly how much it'll cost to fix it. Kinda tough to do, and it gets old after time. Just asking you to look at the other side, here. It sure did look like you wanted us to tell you exactly what caused the specific issues.

    98Z5Vs M1 Carbine

Terry, that's AWESOME info, brother - thank you! I didn't know there was a difference in the sights or the bolt, outside of the M2 being a select-fire weapon. Mine doesn't have the bayo lug retrofitted on it, but someone used the upgrade kit on it, at some time. This rifle came from my father - and he's still in great health, by the way. He told me he'd pass it down to me, and he gave it to me this summer. I didn't expect it, not now. He did 39 years in the Army, mostly National Guard. When he retired, I went to his official retirement ceremony and change of command, and the dinner the night before. This rifle was a retirement gift presented to him. His first rifle issued was the M1 Carbine, and it was always his favorite, and a bunch of the officers that worked for him knew that. This one means a lot to me - right up there with my grandfathers shotgun. <thumbsup>
  20. Updated, with responses above. Don't take it personal. It's tough enough to diagnose problems when you've got a rifle sitting right in front of you, and you're taking it apart - let alone on the internet. These are just my views from going into the whole thread after seeing everything thus far.
  21. I did, too - had to search the beast out on my own. Not sure what Brownells pricing is.
  22. Steep, steep retail price of $360!!! Looks very well made, and very adjustable. Damn nice bipod.
  23. If I pick up some more mags, I'll gladly drive some over, brother. Let me check on availability and funds, and see what I come up with.
  24. Yeah, I need to compose it. I'll work on it today.
  25. ^^^ That's what I use the vise for. Cut off about 1/2" of spent brass (the bottom 1/2"). Use a 1/2" drill bit and channel the skinny side of a 2x4. You want the 2x4 longer than the bolt, and the channel should be as deep as the distance from UNDER the locking lugs down to the bottom of the bolt. The bolt should bottom out in the channel, and the lugs should stick out, all the time the bolt is resting in the channel. Place the bolt in the channel, locate the ejector retaining pin, remove bolt, and drill a 1/4" hole down into the 2x4 to drive the ejector retaining pin into. Lay this whole crazy mess in the jaws of the vise, stick that cutoff brass onto the boltface, and slowly close the vise. Pop the pin, and slowly open the vise. It sounds tougher than it is. I know pics would help, but I can't find the piece of wood and brass (in a ziplock bag) since I moved this summer. It's somewhere. I'll look around today and try to find it. Again.
