  1. When was the last time Colt got awarded the mil contract to supply bolt action sniper rifles? (Remington) When was the last time Colt got awarded the mil contract to supply semi-auto sniper rifles? (KAC) With those two companies fully capable of manufacturing a precision military rifle, Remington being one, I'm positive Remington can build a fucking 4MOA M4 carbine just fine. Colt is crying. Tough poop.
  2. Because it's FUN!!! <thumbsup> <lmao>
  3. I'm not admitting anything until I talk to my attorney, and finalize the quitting of my day job. <dontknow> I see a bunch of Barrett's in my future. ;D <thumbsup> Rob will get two, of course. Just for contacting me first. :happydrunks:
  4. Got back late last night, and I'm beat. I'll get some pics up here in the next couple days. Two buddies from work came out Saturday night, just to ride Sunday. Took them on a night ride on Sat, burned through another tank Sunday morning, and filled up and headed back out in the afternoon. On the way back, one of them crashed in the wash about 1/2 mile from camp. Broken Tib/Fib, left leg. DNP and I got him out of there, splinted and in the back of the Rhino. Transferred him to the truck back in camp, got him to the hospital in Yuma. He had surgery this morning, all bolted back together. Wish I had more pics, but I'll get what I have in here soon. Word of advice: Never get on it, 5th gear pinned, on a 450 racequad, through those washes. Things happen TOO fast. Word of advice, 2: NEVER get to the point that "you have a CR500 all figured out..." You don't. You might get comfortable on it, but it's just making up it's mind of when it's going to kill you. That thing is evil. More on that one later... :o
  5. Here's a great present for you guys - tell someone that you want it, and it might happen. <thumbsup> Hot Shots Calendar 2013: http://www.hotshotscalendar.com/ Here's the URL for the "behind the scenes" pic-shoot vid:
  6. I can't wait to get outta here and start this trip. I'm leaving directly after work tomorrow. I'll get some pics up here sometime during the trip, whenever I make it into town.
  7. You sure can - anything you want. I'll be doing a few racks of pork ribs towards the end of the trip, also - marinate for a day and a half in Stubb's Pork Marinade and Seet Baby Ray's bbq sauce, bury them in the morning, dig them up around dinnertime. Those damn things are outrageous. :o ;D
  8. Deep-pit a couple turkeys. HUGE fire a couple days leading up. Wrap them in muslin, put them in the fire pit, cover them with the coals, and bury them at midnight. Dig them up at 4pm the next day. Unbelievably great eating. <thumbsup>
  9. Sand. More sand than you can possibly imagine. <thumbsup> :happydrunks:
  10. Yes, it's possible. MORE Hell Raisin' is on the way. Been so damn busy the last few weeks, getting ready for my once-annual dune trip. Every Thanksgiving starting 2004, I've been in the ISDRA - Imperial Sand Dunes Rec Area. Work has been hectic, the things I have to finish and get ready have been hectic, and I have WAY too many internal-combustion projects on the board. Figures... :o <dontknow> 9 days in the sand, starts Tuesday night, and I'm outta time. It is, what it is, at this point. I picked up two Go-Pro cams to mount up, so we'll have some vids once I get back. These two rigs will get a workout, guaranteed. <thumbsup>
  11. I'd knock her damn hip outta socket, probably break a rib, and dislocate something in her back. Eat some more Ripped Fuel and go at it again. She wouldn't stand a chance - she doesn't have the recovery time that I do... <dontknow> She'd be stumbling into doorjambs after Round 2, fucking delirious. <laughs> Literally. :o For Hi-Cap shotguns, I'm waiting for the Kel-Tec KSG to be "routine." <dontknow>
  12. Are you talking about for shooting, or for working on them? For accuracy testing, I have something similar to the Caldwell Lead Sled.
  13. That giant beast they were firing at the end of that vid is the .700 Nitro Express. That thing is NASSSSTY!!! :o On another note, that girl at 2:28 is pretty damn hot. Just sayin'... <dontknow>
  14. After reading that, I'm coming to your house for dinner from now on. ;D <thumbsup>
  15. <lmao> <laughs> <thumbsup> The only issue is... on Black Friday, I'll be 3 days into an 8-day trip to the biggest sand dunes in Kalifornia... ;D If you can snatch one for me, I'll be coming back through on Wednesday the 28th, and I can meet you to pick it up, in exchange for green dollar bills plus finders fee. <laughs> I could also meet you along I-10 next Tuesday night, and front the money. :happydrunks:
  16. And?... <lmao> You're such a tease... <laughs>
  17. They're on the way - this weekend will be BUSY... :o
  18. bullpoopy. Welcome to the world of firearms, when you receive a rifle from a manufacturer that actually DOES test fire it. Bolt guns get cleaned, often. Welcome to the world of ARs. Brass on the bolt face - normal. Brass marks on the shell deflector - normal. Carbon - normal, in a gas gun. Carbon everywhere, from the first round. You're bitching about nothing, in the real world. Be glad you bought something from a manufacturer that realy DID test fire your gas-rifle, over the people that say they test fired it for function.
  19. Crickets and grasshoppers, caught fresh, speared over a barbed hook, and fishing for bluegill and crappie in some southeastern Ohio lake... <thumbsup> ;D My whole childhood revolved around that.
  20. Just think - that was a 5.56 gun, with the right ammo, in the hands of a very capable person. SO many people say that the 5.56 can't put people down at 600 yards... <dontknow> It sure as poop can do that, with regularity. <thumbsup> This was the rifle:
  21. SWEET!!! <laughs> The FV-SR had it's "desired effect" in the Oct Shoot!!! ;D <munch> :happydrunks:
  22. It does have a hell of alot to do with that shooter, in particular, but it says alot about the capability of the round, in the right hands, as Jgun said. The shooter in that vid is Travis Haley. This is him on 4 APR 2004, as a Blackwater sniper. http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=cc4_1188026905 For the history on that day, here's a short blurb describing it - those guys weren't mentioned, in the least, but this is the broad view of what happened that day. The guy was very instrumental in the outcome, without doubt. <thumbsup> On April 4, 2004, the Mahdi Army attacked the Spanish-Salvadoran-ALARNG base (Camp Golf, later renamed Camp Baker) in An Najaf, part of a coordinated uprising across central and southern Iraq in an apparent attempt to seize control of the country ahead of the June 30, 2004 handover of power to a new Iraqi government. This uprising led to the 1st Armored Division's Task Force 2nd Battalion, 37th Armor (2-37 AR) attached to the 2 Armored Cavalry Regiment (2ACR) arriving in the city in the wake of the Spanish withdrawal. The situation aroused grave concerns among the Shia community of Iraq and Iran, as firefights took place within yards of the Kufa Mosque. Some mosques suffered superficial damage in the process, mostly due to Mahdi Army fighters mishandling explosives stored in the Kufa Mosque. Firefights between the Mahdi Army and Badr Organization took place in May as tensions rose over the Mahdi Army's occupation of the Imam Ali Shrine, looting of the mosques in their control, and controversial prisons and Sharia courts. The Najaf cemetery, the largest cemetery in the world, became a battle ground in May 2004 as M1A1 tanks from 2-37 AR fought Mahdi Army soldiers on the outskirts of the cemetery. The Mahdi Army stationed several three man rocket propelled grenade RPG teams in the cemetery, who lived in large tombs to avoid detection from U.S. helicopters and UAVs.
  23. I'm not gonna lie, brother... I can't wait to shoot it... <laughs> <thumbsup>
  24. It's definitely worth it. If you crank the sound on that vid, you can definitely hear the round whack the poop out of that 200-yd swinger. <thumbsup>
  25. I'm regearing the rear axle on the Dodge tomorrow night, so I'm screwed on time. I can probably get up there Friday night before they close, if they've got it. I'll drive my ass on the 140-mile roundtrip to pick it up from them, if it's there. <thumbsup> I'd prefer to drive my ass up there for TWO of them, but I know that's hoping for alot... "If you build it, they will come..." <lmao> Lemme know, brother. <thumbsup>
