My old house in VA is gonna get demolished. I'm still undecided on how I feel about that...

If he's a former Marine, and you're too nervous... ... it's gonna go something like this:

**SOLD**Kaiser Technologies 16" 308 barrel w/ gas tube **SOLD**

Cool, man - if it goes, it goes, but if it's still here at the first of the month, I'll grab it. <thumbsup> -
I miss Fort Ord, man. I was stationed there for 3 years. Lightfighter all the way. Breaks my heart to go visit that place anymore, as run down as it is now...

DPMS/DPMS/DPMS, since the carrier is a DPMS. That barrel (and it's extension) are both Armalite and DPMS compatible, and so is the bolt, so those parts should work together.

Armalite-type or DPMS-type barrel extension, brother? Which bolt will I need to pick up? ;D -
You bastard... :-[ Pics, or it didn't happen. <dontknow>

I think their adjustables are only sized in 0.875" and 0.936". I could be wrong, and only looked in the .308 parts section - they probably have a 0.750" adjustable in the 5.56 stuff. The PRI blocks are damn nice, too. <thumbsup>

I've got the perfect place to take you, brother, and we'll set a course up and blast away. I take a group of guys from work (and a couple girls), and I've fully infected the guys with BRD. I've been running them through shoot courses for a few months now. At first, it was only against the shot timer, with no penalty for accuracy - they got pretty fast, but it was a spray-n-pray event for them, thinking it was only timed. I'd far outshoot them, accurately, but all they were focused on was the clock. I'd always make another run, and beat their time, and they'd eventually give up (and I'd about die in the process). Well, last time, I took some IPSC targets out there, and we scored the event. They were dejected, to say the least. Their latest thing now is bugging me about getting accurate, but fast... <laughs> I've been working on my own speed, and I go out for an hour before work - 3 or 4 mags, controlled pairs. Right now, I'm starting from a low ready, chambered and on safe, and I'm hitting the first shot in 1.00 or 1.10 with thte follow up 0.10 later. I have to stay ahead of the younger guys... <lmao> We'll have some fun when you're out here. <thumbsup>

He's doing very well so far - he's been shooting 5.56 since this January. I'm impressed with his rapid progression. I started him out on a small CO2 pellet pistol when he was 8, shooting in the backyard (into a thick foam archery target block). At that age, I had to watch him close, but he grasped the safe-handling concepts well. He had about 4 years with the pellet pistol, then a couple slow years of not shooting much. When I moved back to AZ late last year, I decided to get him out on a M4-clone with a .22LR conversion bolt. He picked it all right back up, and was thirsty for information - I had to slow him down, because he wanted to know everything right now, but he didn't put the time in to master the basics. I slowed him WAY down. He's been putting in the work on the .22, progressing very quickly, and doing almost everything right, every time. He's got the fundamentals down pat. He shoots some 5.56, on the different rifles, and he's comfortable on those, but not to the point of being cocky. His first few rounds of .308 Win are a completely different story, as well as the first few trigger pulls in the 12ga. 'Bout put his featherweight ass right in the dirt... <lmao> Now, the rest of the story... He's diagnosed as Severe AD/HD, to the point that the Behavioral Pediatrician says he'll need meds his entire life, just to assist with self control. Something he'll never "outgrow," according to Doc. Miraculously, on the range, whether it's a formal public range with real range rules, or out in the desert just with me on a Run-n-Gun course - he's calm, cool, and collected. His immediate attention is on safe firearms handling, muzzle awareness, keeping the weapon on safe until on target, keeping proper trigger finger control, target foreground and background... he's good. This is actually an outlet that does him good, and it pleases me to pieces. <thumbsup>

It sounds better and better, Matt - it wasn't sounding too good at the beginning, though, and I'm just being honest. I'd hate to see somebody get all fired up about this, happy and all, only to be "rejected" as a final outcome - with that based on bad info from someone selling product. It has happened alot, or there never would have been an article about it, that Drew linked here. I'm sure everything will work out, but it wasn't sounding too good in the beginning, buddy. I rushed to judgment about it, but it sounded like so many other stories out there that don't end too well for the purchaser.

yeahbut... <dontknow> Did he acknowledge the differences in the transfer, brother?...
-
It's a 3-position block. Off, unsuppressed, and suppressed. If that doesn't fit your cyclic needs, you still have to play with buffer weight to get what you need.
-
Did you ask him what this trust template consists of? I'm just sayin', if it's on Quicken or something similar, it's going to get rejected by BATFE. You'll find out when they send the rejected Form 4 back to you. I'm not trying to down the guy, just trying to find out more info, and save you some grief. It really won't matter how many references he has, or how many happy customers he has, if all their stuff passed through BATFE before they started rejecting this medium of a "trust" as a viable NFA Trust document.

However the recommendations turn out - just make sure the block OD will be compatible with the rail ID, and that you can still adjust it through the rail, when necessary (if the rail covers the block). I'm betting you're going to get lots of rail recommendations, and a few adjustable gas block recommendations, but that they're not combined on any one rifle. I just have that hunch... <dontknow>

The CAD drawings should be a very good indication of what the final product is - the 5.56 set turned out identical to it's CAD renderings. <thumbsup>

Yep, two screw heads on the integrated mount. Still have the old clamp-on IR filter, but don't have any NODS now to run the thing... <laughs> -
Amen. Matt, you're in a unique situation, with the dealer having a relationship with the attorney - so many times, it's nothing like that. There are alot of dealers that think the Quicken (or similar) trust documents are the way to go, and "easy." That doesn't work with the firearms, and what people aim to accomplish the a Gun Trust or NFA Trust. Glad you've got it sorted out, but you had me worried... <dontknow> <laughs> Edit - upon checking out the link you provided, you need to find out exactly what that dealer is talking about - I've never, ever seen a lawyer work for "free," but your dealer is offering the trust setup for free. I have no idea how that's even possible. He paid for an attorney, but he passes this on to you for free? Check in to this, brother. Find out what's going on before you completely put all your eggs in this basket...
-
Yup. Don't try to do it yourself, don't have your firearms dealer do it (they're not a lawyer, and are not authorized to prepare legal documents or wills) - just spend the money on a lawyer that is familiar with NFA Trusts. I'm just sayin'...
-
Yeah, he was in on the build, picking parts - the Foliage color, at least. I didn't give him too much choice outside of that. He's been clearing the house with it for a few weeks now. He needs a light on there... <dontknow> <thumbsup>

I had them both issued to me in a past military life. I like them both for different reasons and different missions. I prefer the Aimpoint if it's the 2MOA dot, especially for an all around red dot. Mount it forward, run a PVS-14 on the upper receiver behind it, and it's one sweetass setup. I never did try to run night vision behind the EOTech. Mounting options at the time sucked, and it wasn't even worth it to try - let alone the confusing reticle when everything is bright green, other shades of green, and gray. The Aimpoint was better in this role. Things might have changed by now, with different mounts for the EOTech, but I never had any. Now, I prefer the EOTech standard reticle for everything else. That 65MOA circle with a 1MOA dot inside is awesome in alot of roles. Anything close, just get it in the big circle and you're good, and you've still got a tiny little dot for longer distance targets. You can damage an Aimpoint to the point that you won't get anything in the reticle. You can put a bullet through the middle of the EOTech, and you'll still have the holograph visible in the broken glass. Aimpoint kicks EOTechs ass when it comes to battery life, starting the the Comp M3 models and up. Even the older Comp M2s were better than the first-gen EOTechs, before EOTech got slightly better about battery consumption. I'll go dig for a pic, so I'll be back... Edit - couldn't find the Afghanistan pics, but I'll keep digging. I was looking for a couple pics that show the 14 mounted behind the Aimpoint. Now, having used both before, and the Aimpoint extensively, I don't personally own one right now. I did, however, spend my money on the EOTech 512 last year. I like them both, but at the time, my money went to the 512.

Damn, you've got your hands full with load development - a couple of those look really, really good, and none of them look bad at all. That's some pretty cool results. <thumbsup>
