  1. DNP has this rail setup on his .308 build. I'll find a link. Rail pics start here on Page 3: http://308ar.com/forum/index.php/topic,264.30.html
  2. Same free float that I've got on mine - love it. That's one good lookin' build you've got brewing. <thumbsup>
  3. The original SOF SPR program (also the Navy Mk12 Mod0 rifle) used the PRI tube. It's plenty tough enough. <thumbsup>
  4. Shoot him a PM - he might be able to hook you up again. I snatched another one from him during the group buy not long ago. <thumbsup>
  5. That is slick - very useful indeed. Nice to see a non-electronic version that doesn't cost half a bajillion dollars. <thumbsup>
  6. I should see some parts tomorrow afternoon, if the tracking info is accurate and predictable (USPS for all this stuff, somehow). I'll start putting up pieced-together pics as soon as parts arrive. It's getting shot next Sunday, come hell or high water. If I can wait that long. :o <lmao> On another note, I HATE ordering a part that shows as "In Stock," then receiving a damn email saying the part is backordered. That gets my blood pressure up. >:(
  7. That new lower group I just got has the Super 3 Gun in it (S3G), and from what I understand it's identical to the SD3G but with the traditional curved trigger. That S3G is amazing, man. <thumbsup> I've seen quite a few people's feedback on the straight trigger, and most of them really, really like it. I wouldn't mind trying one myself, but that would mean another rifle build for me. :o At this point, it would be worth a chance, based on what I've seen others say about it. I can definitely tell you the S3G is incredibly nice. Hell, I like that S3G enough that I'd buy that SD3G from you if you didn't like it. I'm always up for another build anyway. <dontknow> <laughs>
  8. Someone, somewhere, has to have a vid of this... :o That's almost a "must-have" now in this thread. You gotta post that up! <thumbsup> ;D
  9. Just found some recent info on this, and there's not much out there. Surplus Ammo & Arms, out of Lakewood, WA (my old stomping grounds for 12 years) is now offering a billet .308 upper directly from them. Some of you may not have heard of them before, but Aero Precision makes all their parts (their SAA branded hardware). Aero Precision is right down the road from them - it's the local-to-local connection between the two businesses. These uppers would obviously be made by AP. DPMS-based, and nice looking. I found the upper listed on GunBroker for $80... :o http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=224834710#PIC I'll keep digging for more info, until I find it. I'll post what I find. <thumbsup>
  10. That's a beautiful pic, brother. Beautiful. <thumbsup>
  11. I damaged myself with this one - I had no idea anything like this was coming. Basically, it's the MagPul lower coming from a credible source, and it was announced publicly one week after I dropped $1,200 on a new Kimber .45. :o Damn my luck, but damn my desire even more. If I coulda predicted the future, I still don't know what I would have done, but right now I'm ordering up some kickass upper receiver parts that should compliment this lower very well... <thumbsup> I need to find out what kind of super-secret plan Drew has for this lottery-winning thing he's been cooking up. I really need it right now... <lmao> EDIT - everything officially on order now except for the free float - gotta wait until Monday morning to call that one in, and get my discount. It should all be here be the end of next week, and get shot that following Sunday. <thumbsup>
  12. Well, the 300BLK is a .308 AR... It's just not a 7.26x51 AR. <dontknow> Speaking about it anywhere on the site fits talking about it anywhere on the site, from a caliber and weapons platform standpoint, but it's still different. Having a separate section here, just like we have manufacturers sections, might not be a bad idea. <thumbsup> It's definitely something that's gonna be around for awhile, based on the support it's already got rolling with major manufacturers. My $0.02... :o
  13. Use the search feature on this site - before you order those parts, find out what's going on with that SASS barrel. I'm not so sure that those parts will work together - I've never built one, but I've watched others try. <dontknow>
  14. Can you grab a couple comparison pics of the bolt faces, and post them in here?
  15. I really like how your rifle turned out - excellent job. <thumbsup>
  16. I'm seriously thinking about it - both! Now! <dontknow> ;D I've got something in my mind - 14.5" barrel with a pinned Phantom 5C1, 10" FDE float tube, mini red dot, all on a Rainier Arms billet upper receiver. I need to see if that float tube and upper will be compatible with the piston kit. If the tube doesn't work, but the upper does, then I can always Duracoat a Samson rail... <laughs>
  17. Wait until next week - when I build the upper! <laughs> Plenty of gas tube roll pins, so everything else is being scrubbed on a list. I've almost got it finalized. For now. ;D
  18. Welcome aboard! <thumbsup>
  19. Hell, I told ya I was gonna do it... <laughs>
  20. I'd think that the shorter pistol length gas tube would cycle subsonic ammo better than the carbine length tube. <dontknow>
  21. So, initially, this would be the base for a 300BLK build. Don't think I'll do that now, since it's caliber marked, unless I can have it engraved without messing it up. Gotta figure out what I'm going to do. AR15.com licensed the design from MagPul, so aside from markings, this is the exact design of the infamous MagPul lower. <thumbsup> Once again, FDE FTW. <laughs>
  22. Welcome aboard, man. <thumbsup>
  23. Are you running the spent brass through a full-length sizing die?
  24. I was going to add, in reference to the 7.62x39 hardware - if you ever planned on versatility among other weapons that you have (other .308s), then don't go with the Russian caliber. That bullet is a .311 caliber bullet. Nothing else you have, reloading included is going to work.
