  1. There's not too much that's standard about that training, SWShooter... <thumbsup> That's a pretty good feather to have in your cap, man. ;D
  2. A good 2-point with a sliding adjusting buckle would be a great place to start. Some of the early Vickers slings used a cam-lock type buckle to adjust the length. I swear that buckle looked just like the buckle on an issued rucksack strap, too. ;D Pull the excess webbing through the cam lock to shorten/tighten up the sling, and pull a loop of 550 cord on the buckle release to slack it up.
  3. TacBlade, SFAS isn't a First Time GO for alot of people. A WHOLE lot of people. You went, and that's above and beyond way more than 99% of the Army can say. <thumbsup> 110% truth. Welcome aboard, JB.
  4. I'm betting that little half-assed sweatshop is only supplying a few things to TT. I've been in their buildings for a long time - 3 different shops worth. Can't remember the street location of the 1st one, then 100th St SW, then the current location. In the current location, they have computer controlled cutting machines for the cloth/nylon, injection molding machines for making their own plactic hardware, and plenty of industrial sewing machines (individual machines - sewn by hand by humans). I haven't been back to the shop for a couple years, but last time I was there everything was still hand sewn. Seeing this news bums me out. If the founder was still around, this stuff with that little sweatshop would not be happening. No way, no how. >:(
  5. Can't wait to put this in my 20" 5.56 gun. That thing is only running a polished stock trigger right now, and it's a heavy one. ;D I'm gettin' all excited... <laughs>
  6. It does smooth up even more once you get it out and push a bunch of live ammo through it, too. Keep that it mind when you first install it. Once the engagement surfaces "mate" together, it gets even better. <thumbsup> The nickel boron coating is the goods.
  7. I'm running that very trigger set in a billet 5.56 gun, and it is a nice trigger. Smooooooth. Trigger pull weight is slightly less that a good standard trigger, but there is absolutely no gritty feeling at all during the travel. The nickel boron coating is a wonderful thing. Very crisp break. Definitely worth consideration is you're looking for a great performaing standard trigger. Keep in mind that this trigger was never designed as a match trigger or anything like that - it's just the smoothest standard trigger (durable, dependable, tough) that you'll probably ever find. <thumbsup>

    Setup

That ^^^ was a great post, brother. <thumbsup>
  10. Haven't heard from anybody here on that caliber yet, so that would be a pretty nice build. Excellent upper and lower to build something like that from, also. Welcome aboard, man! <thumbsup>
  11. That is some great info! I think the one thing that really jumped out and got me was that the KAC tests from KevinB included a Lapua 185gr round, and he fired 10 rounds - I'm assuming he loaded those to mag length and fed them through a KAC mag. I'd love to know the OAL he loaded them to, and how he got them to that length with the 185gr bullet. That is sweet! <thumbsup>
  12. Whew! Matt, I'm glad you tossed that disclaimer in there! I read that while drinking a glass of water, and almost spit the stuff all over my computer!... <lmao> branson, welcome aboard, man! Watch out for some of the people here, I'm just sayin'... <laughs>
  13. Excellent paintjobs, man, excellent. SOTIC is always something I tried to get, but never could get a slot - when did you go through?
  14. IMHO, live ammo will cycle the action with more force that we can generate by hand-cycling. "New rifle" stuff will always apply, until it's fired, cycled, and broken in. I'd say take it to the range and put a hundred through it first, then see how it's acting after that. Definitely should be a little better after a shoot-fest.
  15. MRF-308. It does come with a DPMS barrel nut. Dremel the small notch - The way the rail locks to the barrel nut; there's a raised ring all the way around the smooth barrel nut. No notches or holes that the gas tube passes through the barrel nut at all - it goes right over the top of the barrel nut. However, it won't clear that raised ring. Once you torque it down, you have to dremel down that raised ring so the gas tube can lay right on top of the barrel nut. Basically, you just "clearance" that raised ring. <thumbsup> Here's an Armalite AR-10 barrel nut - the Troy nut looks just like this, except the outer ring doesn't have notches - just round all the way around it. You'll make your own notch once it's tight.
  16. HAHA! Matt, you'll be alright, man. Pick it up, HIDE IT, and build it slowly. Then HIDE IT AGAIN. <lmao> I've been watching those, but I'm waiting for another new set that's coming out. It's .308 Win, it's billet, and it's gonna be sweet. I'll SBR it. <thumbsup> ;D
  17. KS, are you looking for freefloat options, or just a direct handguard replacement with conventional handguards?

    6.5 Grendel

I'm pretty sure the 458SOCOM board got hit, too. About the same time.

    6.5 Grendel

They got hacked/attacked, according to someone else. Word is that they'll be back. Found out about that on another board.
  20. Rome, for comparison purposes, I knew I could find listed weights from Fulton Armory. This is just a ballpark, but a decently accurate one that should help out. Their 18.5" stainless match barrel in a medium contour is listed at 3.0 lbs. Their cromoly lightweight 18.5" barrel is listed at 2.5 lbs. There's a 0.5 lb savings between those two contours/materials. With your bull profile being a little heavier, you'd save even more from the switch, not to mention the additional savings of the extra 1/2 inch (minimal, but still there). Not sure how much a comp on the end would add, but there are so many different ones available that it would come down to product selection and listed weights of them. Hope that helps some. Tom

  22. I'm a big fan of nylon from Tactical Tailor. Great, great stuff - been using their gear since about 1995. <thumbsup> http://www.tacticaltailor.com/762308singlemagpouch.aspx

ss, I love that hand howitzer. That has always been one of my favorite revolvers. That is one very nice purchase. <thumbsup> You have my envy... ;D
  24. Seems strange that they'd stop making it. <dontknow> I'm thinking a call to JP Ent is in order... ;D
