  1. Well, my barrel will be here on Friday, the stripped upper and lower will be to the FFL in about 4 weeks (not a typo), and the rail will be ready for shipping in about 6 weeks... This build is just FLYING!!! ::) I'll probably order the optic tomorrow, and just gather up small bits and pieces for now. And wait.
  2. I've shot 300m varying-distance pop-up qual ranges with a Comp M2 in the past, and it still gets it done on the 300m target. Never had a problem hitting the silhouette at that distance, and that was the larger dot on the M2, with the brightness turned down. It can do the job out that far, even though mangification at that distance would make it easier. You're correct on the 2moa dot size references at those ranges.
  3. It's any easy addition to the board, through the SMF software. Good idea. <thumbsup>
  4. Awesome, man. I think that 50-shot kit comes with the different levels of "abrasive" doesn't it? Don't know what else to call the stuff... I still haven't ordered a box of the 5.56 yet, to tear up this midlength with. I need to get on that.
  5. You guys are certainly not a good influence. :o

    Range Day!

Matt, THAT IS AWESOME!!! You have a great hook-up with the local hand-loader!!! <thumbsup> Shoot everything that guy presents to you... ;D
  8. Not even fair - you didn't even give me the thought about selling that DPMS lower to recover IRA costs... But you just did now!!! <thumbsup> ;D DPMS stripped lower for sale, $200... <laughs>
  9. I made the stupid decision that "I was just going to look around..." I may have to head back over there tomorrow.
  10. It hurt, man, it hurt... :'(
  11. I'm running an old 3-point Tactical Tailor sling on my .308 right now, but I'll be replacing it with a Blue Force Gear Vickers padded sling (2-point) in the future - just need to put it in a place on my priorities list. :o Various single point slings on the AR-15s. One has a very nice BDS Tactical sling that I like alot; another one has an army-issue single point with a MASH hook on it. I've got a Spec-Ops Brand 3-point on a Ruger 10/22. For the single points, the BDS is my favorite. For the 3-points, it's the Tactical Tailor. I'm sure I'll love that Vickers sling. http://www.bdstacticalgear.com/ http://www.specopsbrand.com/ http://www.blueforcegear.com/ http://www.tacticaltailor.com/
  12. Nations Gun Show in Chantilly, VA today. IRA-10D stripped lower. $350. Private Sale. Me, without $350 in my pocket... >:(
  13. bandit, I'm up for one of the 308 triggers. Wwaiting on Uncle Sam and his IRS payment branch to get it together... It should be resolved in a couple more days. <thumbsup>

    Range Day!

Awesome, man! Have fun and be safe. It'll be raining here for the next couple days... >:(
  15. How much did they have them listed for? I saw their price on the LR-20s, which is about $5 too high...
  16. This looks pretty sweet! Nice find!
  17. That is the stuff. Previous mistake on my part - I mentioned it was available from Sniper's Hide forum - INCORRECT. It was available from Sniper Central forum... Online-wise, it was only available for a long time, from them. I'm damn glad to see it in many other online places now, but for people that might have a hard time finding it, check here: http://www.snipercentral.com/hsmammo.htm
  18. ^^^ DNP knows my pain. He's known me long enough. :o I was talking about building a .458 awhile ago, on another board, and I'd already built a few others. I had second thoughts. He already had a few ARs, and found a JD matched .308 set. He let that out, but I had changed my mind on the .458 already (in my mind) and decided on a .308 instead. Eh, I told him about it, and I wanted the IRA set. Well, I had a local gun show I hit, and I told him I found a DPMS stripped lower for a hell of a decent deal - he tells me, "Don't do it - you don't want that. Call me before you go back there and buy it!" I say okay, I'll call. I won't do it. THAT NIGHT I hit up the IRA website - and those bastages jacked prices up about $150 per matched set. Hell with that, I'm going back to that show and getting the DPMS, and I'm NOT calling DNP beforehand... ;D Yeah, that didn't even go a full month, and I was posting targets. It's just a damn sickness... not my fault... <lmao> <thumbsup>
  19. Don't do that to him... I'm not sure if he's ready for that... **Ahem!!!** Matt, Google "PimpMyGun" <lmao>
  20. What can I say?... <dontknow> It's a damn sickness... <laughs>
  21. I turned a spare gas tube roll pin into a complete rifle before - I don't need the help, brother... :o EDIT - I really do want a .338, though... Bolt. ;D <laughs>
  22. I know, man. Some of the stuff I want won't even be available for about 8 weeks, but I have to pay now. That's the killer part. I'll probably have everything else sitting here, waiting on one or two key parts, so once they come in it will be a shootin'! I had a foliage AFG for it, but the Little Woman took charge of that thing right away, and it's on her midlength now. >:( Mo' money... :o
  23. Killer deals on parts. That's what gets us - well, it gets me, that's for sure. This is what is driving a pretty sweet build, and I'll update as more parts come in. This one will take longer than the previous builds, because I know for sure I have to wait on parts to be made - not just "not available at a retailer." This one will end up being my favorite gun, I already know... ;D Here's the beginning:

As far as breathing control goes, make the shot on the exhale. Fully exhale, give it a second or two, then shoot during the respiratory pause. You can load your oxygen system somewhat by taking 2 or 3 sharp, deep breaths beforehand. Then fully exhale, shoot. When you do that, you can go 7 or 8 seconds on the respiratory pause before your body (mind; brain) tells you to start breathing again. If you wait that long it's like holding your breath, and you'll start shaking a little. If you don't make the shot in that timeframe, just let it go - breathe in a couple more times and start over again. Practice that, and it'll fix vertical stringing. If you stick to the fundamentals on the other stuff, those groups will tighten right up. <thumbsup>
