See, this is exactly why we're asking you for specific dimensions. The Sprinco Red spring is a direct replacement for the Armalite EA1095 spring. It's purpose is for carbine receiver extensions that are 7 5/8" internal depth, and used with carbine buffers that are 3.250" long. OR, you use it in a rifle receiver extension that's 9 11/16" internal depth, with a 308AR rifle buffer that's 5.200" long. If your carbine receiver extension is 7.000" internal depth, you'll need a buffer that's 2.500" long, and you purchased the wrong spring. The Sprinco Orange spring was specifically designed for that setup, on a 308AR. Details matter - I don't know why it's so hard to get them from you.

LC brass consistency is excellent, year to year, even many, many years apart. As good as alot of other companies match brass. Just check OAL on the cases at first - if they're all pretty close, you're good to go. If you see a HUGE variation in cartridge OAL,.. it was fired from a machine gun... It's real easy to overcome that, after sizing, and just trim them all to the same length - and mark them, those long bastards that went through the MG. They'll lose primer pockets faster than "normal." Just something to watch. There's about 1,200 of those shiny, primed little beauties loaded up now. That's the only brass that I'll use for the Mk11 load, with the 178 ELD-X projos. That load is amazing.

I surprised, ARF was pretty damn close! The QD levers on the LaRue mounts are nice. Rear one is locking, front one isn't (you'll see in-hand). The VFZ mounts used to be cheaper, by $50, but not anymore. They're all the same price, and they all went up. Cost of doing business in today's world, was what they told me when I called about it. Old prices were $210 QD and $160 VFZ. I have a pile of the VFZ mounts, but only 2 of the QD mounts. I'll need another 158 coming up pretty soon, so I might as well order it up.

You stay in that range, and you'll be alright. Sierra Game Kings are great hunting projectiles, no matter what you'll hunt. That weight range of the 165 SGK will keep it pretty close to what you're doing now with the 168 Match Kings, dope won't be far off, for distances - unless you're going LONG. If you're staying under 600 yards, it won't much matter, between the two projectiles. Another one to consider, based on your intended purpose, is a Hornady Precision Hunter load with their own ELD-X projectiles. The only Precision Hunter load they offer for .308 Win is the 178 ELD-X, and I'm not sure how that would do in the M1A. That projectile is the best one they've got for .308 Win, amongst all their projectiles, even the ELD-M. I switched my .308 Win handloads over to that projectile about 3 years ago, and I'm glad I did. Works great for precision, distance, and hunting.

This means the recoil systems clear, on both guns. Go over the details again, each gun specifically, now in the thread. Get the current infor on each gun, in it's on paragraph - list all the current specs and details, as well as what each one is doing. Let's work on each gun individually. Recoil system details, complete, each gun. Gas system complete, each gun - all info in a paragrah for each gun, both gas and recoil. For gas system info, gas port diameter, gas block journal diameter, type of gas system (either midlentgth or rifle)l pic of each gas tube's protrusion into the upper receiver, in relation to the cam pin cutout in the upper receiver.

You did clearly state that all you had was the receiver. That's all you bought. Doesn't matter what you bought, or what parts we looked at in pics, and self-determined that you added them, if we assumed that you bought a true stripped lower. This is all you said, right in your first post... Now, it doesn't matter if it was a stripped receiver or not, I simply tried to tell you how to determine the difference, if it was sold as a stripped lower, or if you have a teken-apart gun. Doesn't matter anyway, it's the same quality receiver. This isn't an attack on you - I don't understand why everyone is freaking out about stripped, not stripped, what parts you have. Not unmounting an optic just for a weight measurement, but I'll bet that if you call LaRue, they can tell you the exact weight, for the size you need - I noticed that they're doing the 158 in 34mm and 35mm now, so there's 4 possible sizes with different weights. I have a LT-745 mount here that's not on a gun yet. I can weigh that, it won't be much different. Or, next time I get a 158 in, I'll weigh it and update this thread.

All DPMS LR-308 lowers use a threaded pin for the bolt catch. They are the ones that started that.

Don't know if it's pre-ban, myself of not, because Remington killed all the old-skool DPMS information when they bought them. Google searches can still turn up old DPMS serial number databases, but not always. Worth a shot. I'll tell you this with absolute certainty, though - When DPMS was in production, every single - and I mean EVERY SINGLE ONE -of their stripped LR-308 lower receivers, that were EVER offered for sale straight from them - they delineated the stripped lowers that they made, from the full-assembled guns that they made. On every single one of their stripped LR-308 lowers that they ever offered for sale, they stamped a capital letter "K" at the end of the serial number. If you do NOT have that "K" at the end of your serial number, then the lower that you bought was never offered, straight from DPMS, as a stripped lower. Ever. What you have purchased is a lower that someone stripped DOWN to a lower receiver, and sold. It was never sold, straight from DPMS as a stripped lower, unless it had that :"K: at the end of the serial string. That right there is solid information. Take it to the bank.

Aero M5 upper receiver will pin to that just fine. There's a "K" at the end of your serial number, isn't there...
