  1. wash, you hunt like these guys, brother?...
  2. You're funny. My 16" 5.56 pencil barrel doesn't string when it heats up. Doesn't change point of impact. That's just how good it's made, and Faxon does a great job with the pencil profiles. Besides, how many times you gonna heat this barrel up when you're hunting - even hog hunting?...
  3. I have two, and love them. 16" 308 medium weight barrel and a 16" 5.56 pencil barrel. They are both fantastic.
  4. Wash says "pump the brakes" but he really means this...
  5. What happened to this "brake thing" you were pumping a little bit ago?...
  6. That thing looks bone dry, too....
  7. He's looking for an 18" barrel, there, brakepumper....
  8. Damn, that one went quick!
  9. ^^^ This. Plus, the oil. It needs to be WELL oiled. VERY WELL oiled. I'm sure someone will be along shortly with a picture of exactly what I'm talking about. Get the parts details up here, if you know them. Otherwise, it'll be pics-and-measurements time.

    Newbie!!

Welcome from AZ, man. Guard your wallet - we're good at spending money. Especially the money of others...
  11. Honestly, I'd do this one, for a light hunting rifle. I wouldn't even consider anything else (if it was my build)... http://faxonfirearms.com/18-pencil-308-win-rifle-length-4150-nitride/ They also have a great lightweight lo-pro gasblock, and you can add that to the barrel as an option - a little cheaper that way, at the same time.
  12. On the BCG, and the company - I used one of the Radical Firearms 5.56 stainless barrels, 16" midlength, on a coyote gun for Kim last Christmas - it's a very accurate barrel. I don't know how they make what they make, and sell it for what they sell it for, but it's proved itself for me, thus far.
  13. Not trying to push the Black Friday stuff, but you should jump on this right away, before it sells out. http://www.primaryarms.com/radical-complete-308-bolt-carrier-group-308mel-bcg?trk_msg=CIK6OADRC0TKN5CBVODQRARHTO&trk_contact=8V0L65B89JG3CKL2PPP2IG35AC&trk_sid=7F84VPUO9HBODQG01A0NJ5AH64&utm_source=listrak&utm_medium=email&utm_term=SLOT_20&utm_campaign=17_11_Ad_22_Black_Friday I haven't personally used this 308 BCG yet, but I have two of their 5.56 BCGs and they're good quality. You can't beat that price - and if you don't like it, you can certainly sell it later for more than you'll pay now...
  14. That whole tragic event just sticks to high heaven.
  15. They say that thing has 10 mils of adjustment per turret revolution - that's MASSIVE adjustment!!!
  16. Just my luck, brother - I have that Nikon already, and the rings. I like that Weaver, too - never seen it that low on price before, and I've look at that one... Damnit... I would have jumped all over those rings, but my impatience got me again, and I snatched another set up...
  17. Yep, don't complicate shiit with complicated shiit... Build it functional first. Stick with simple stuff - get it light. After that if you want it lighter, start adding all that low-mass this and adjustable that. Use a regular BCG to start, regular buffers, regular buffer springs... Make a functional rifle. It's gonna be ALOT easier that way, to find out that your gas port is too small and needs to be drilled up... Just an example...
  18. Yes, yes indeed... I have my flaws...
  19. Doc treated me for scope eye at the Fall Shoot - Ray's Savage .338 Lapua bolt gun got me, with that scope so far back. Doc treated me well... First he pointed, then he started laughing his a$s off...
  20. Roman! The eggs look GREAT, brother!!! I'm glad the 5FDP was there for ya!!!
  21. That's exactly what I'm trying to preach. DNR wouldn't stand a chance of making that stick. Ultimately, they would lose.
  22. Love you, too, You Jolly Red Asshead!!!
