  1. That, literally, is the way to do it. They will tell you what the original model was, based on the serial number. You look up that model, and that's what you'll see as the original, in-the-skin rifle...
  2. Same mentality as Ronnie Barrett. He didn't "hate" Californians, when he banned his own sales to their state - he wasn't going to sell to a state with such draconian gun laws...
  3. I'm painting my 13.5" 308 like this...
  4. I grew up on iron sights, literally, as a kid, and militarily. There were no "optics" militarily until the early to mid 90's. A few units had the early, EARLY Aimpoints prior to that. My first issued Aimpoint "kit" included a cantilever mount, attached to the carry handle on the M4A1. Nothing before that gave you a co-witness through the irons... It looked like this: We used them, zero'd them, and trained with them - but you couldn't qualify with them. A few years later, that changed, and you could qual your Aimpoint. By that time, we also had EOTech holo sights, as well. I have two ARs that don't have back up irons. Two. One is Kim's coyote gun, and the other I haven't had the time or energy to add a set of 45-degree back-ups to. Her coyote gun with get the 45-degree sights, when I get around to it. My methodology goes for magnified optics and red dots. Doesn't matter. I'm now a firm believer in 45-degree sights for magnified optics, and standard co-witness for red dots. 2 is 1, and 1 is none. If you don't have a back up, you won't even know that you needed it until it's too damn late...
  5. That damn 45-70 rail is KILLIN' ME, brother! Shiit, I bought some more Cerakote in FDE and Burnt Bronze, just to HAVE here when that rail hits! As soon as they release the damn thing, it's gonna be in my cart, paid for, shipped, stripped, and painted, AND MOUNTED... Fuk me, this is killin' me...
  6. I jumped on that when you guys posted that sale - and it's here, and I like it. Haven't shot it yet, but I will. I like the BDC reticle, and I love that it's 0.1 Mil clicks on the turrets. I'll get more indepth on it once I shoot it. I have a few other 1-4 optics to compare it to.
  7. Shiit, I'll just chime in with this - If you're running a collapsible stock setup on a 308AR, then just dispense with the bullshyt and run the Armalite AR-10 Carbine setup, and just be done with it. It WILL work as it's designed, it WON'T malfunction, and you WILL NOT have to diagnose anything with any "recoil system problems and mis-matched parts" from different vendors...

  9. Those bastards are TEASIN'!!!
  10. WTF is that?!... I'm not sure if that's gonna make me "need it now list," brother... Shiit, though, that reminds me - I need to find a detachable mag solution for the 300 Win Mag. I've got one in mind...
  11. Just... damn...
  12. WOW!!! Battle Arms BAD-PDW is a fine weapon. Woody furniture and Cerakote, though...
  13. That is GREAT, brother!!! I love the paint on that carbine...
  14. They are pushing hard on this now, and have their favorite spokeswoman on point... http://www.guns.com/2017/11/27/giffords-group-asks-web-hosts-to-shut-down-ghost-gun-sites/
  15. Nice, Bob!!! Excellent deer!
  16. This right here pretty much sealed the deal:
  17. I think I figured it out... http://faxonfirearms.com/match-series-18-gunner-6-5-grendel-416-r-5r-nitride-nickel-teflon-extension/

    Feed issue

Try out some Barnes TSX or TTSX projectiles - I'd bet you like them.
  19. Welcome aboard - we'll be able to keep it all straight for you. Just ask about the certain parts when they come up.

    Trouble

Please specify what recoil system you are running. We have the gas system and barrel length. That Faxon barrel is a good barrel. Recoil system description is almost mandatory, to determine if you have the correct BCG travel, considering the situation.

    Trouble

The two bolded items determine your headspace. I'm betting it's not that Faxon barrel, if you indeed have a headspace problem. Headspace should always be checked on these 308 builds. Always. There IS no M16/M4 TDP to follow, for manufacturers, there IS no mandated pattern. There are 3 major patterns of these rifles, aftermarket manufacturers out the a$s... Tolerance stacking is ALWAYS an issue, even with some of the "reputable manufacturers..." Imagine your situation, right now - you have a round stuck in the chamber, dry-cycling this thing in the living room, basement, where ever... Imagine if you didn't do that, and you just proceeded directly to the range for the first time, loaded that round, pulled the trigger... What's gonna happen?... This thing gonna blow up in your face? Leave shrapnel in your hand? Lose an eye over it?... A headspace check would have prevented this, maybe...
  22. That might be it... "Shiit, that's a pretty nice Mk12 Mod 0 right there. Oh DAMN, he just pulled out a Mod 1, too!..." "Fuk, he just got out the green one..."
  23. I'm seriously at a loss as to what this thing will become. It's bothering me, pretty bad. Whatever it turns into, it won't be a beater gun, and it won't get abused - but it will be shot. Hell, it might turn into another 18" match-accurate 5.56 gun. I honestly don't know... This intrigued me. http://faxonfirearms.com/match-series-18-gunner-223-wylde-rifle-length-416r-nitride-5r-nickel-teflon-extension/ What's not to like? 5R rifling. .223 Wylde chamber. Rifle gas on an 18" barrel. 1:8" twist. I might use this set to build an 18" gun that will embarrass the Mod 0 and Mod 1. If that's the case, the trigger will be the Geissele Hi-Speed National Match, with a backed-off low-ass pull weight. You can set that bastard down to 1.9lbs, combined pull weight... I know I love the fuk out my my DMR trigger in the Mod 0... https://geissele.com/hi-speed-national-match-trigger-set.html Fuk, I don't know...
  24. I'm sure he'll show up... That IS a pretty damn good deal - I hope it's around come payday...
  25. I'm down with the 300 Win Mag, 45-70, and 30 Carbine, once again. If you're hitting the range anytime soon, I can wait. Payday is next Friday, so I can get the money to you then.
