So, once again... BACK on topic, Juliya... This guy definitely WON'T be here for the Fall Shoot. And it is a good time... Your presence is welcomed... -

Juliya, don't let this minor rank-pissing-contest influence your travel invitation - we do put on a good show down here. Doesn't matter what the distractors are... -

Not in the Army. Maybe Air Force. Army-wise, that E-8 territory, only. Thanks for your service. Have a good one. -
Now you did it...

You're the one that made it that way- like traveling was an issue. Especially in 1SG status - you should have travelled your a$s off. I know I did, in that status, and it was no big deal. 'Round the planet 20 times, before I forgot how to count them... -

Twice, for you. -
Hey, man - you're gonna hop on here and blow out some military credentials with your screen name... so just go on and blow out your military credentials. Get it over with. "First Sergeant" doesn't mean too many things, so just spill it already, and get the details of your military background out here.

That's nothing. Tell that to the guys that DRIVE from Maryland, fly from Mass, fly from NC, haul from Wisconsin, NorCal, WA State, etc, just for this shoot. I drove once from the DC-area (Woodbridge, VA) to the dunes in Cali, just for a Thanksgiving dune trip., for a week with friends. It's all relative to the experience. Doesn't matter where you haul your ass from, if the trip is worth it... This trip is worth it. We don't fuk about with the shooting trips. -
Be cautious if you handload these projectiles. A 70gr TSX is longer than a 77gr Sierra Match King, so you need to pay attention to seating depths and powder charge (case capacity). I only load them in LC NATO cases, with CCI 400 primers. I load ALL my 70TSX loads to the 75/77gr load references (with tweaks), and they're a little hot. They're moving at 2750 fps, and that is the goal.

Do you guys travel? Do you do shows, shoots etc? Just wondering, because we set up some hellish shoots here in AZ. Next one coming up is this fall. Lemme know what you do, and we'll get the details to you for our Fall Shoot. I can guarantee you, it doesn't disappoint. We're worth the travel time.

Brother, that is SO badass! You have a "Stack O' Walthers"!!!

I'm over 1k rounds on this thing, original ejector spring is still in there, doing it's job. Doesn't seem like it's close to failing, but I have 5 spare springs now, and two full ejector assemblies, in the parts box. Future-proofed.

Have QD attachments on your rifle and sling. I run push buttons. You run the sling "backwards" when you use the cuff.
-
Flab, here you go. All these things run generic AR15 mag catches. First pic is the .338 Fed - depth of the mag catch threaded shaft to the top of the button is 0.168". Second pic it the 16" .308AR, depth is 0.145" - so there's a half turn difference between those two large frame ARs, right there. Third pic is the 25-45 Sharps, which is just AR15 receivers - flush. Check your depth. It needs to be somewhere between those two numbers I listed - 0.168"~0.145" deep, shaft end to button top.
-
If they've got rules against the caliber size, then you can't get around it. TSX rounds are legit, though.

You're the first guy here running the Platinum DEKA, and I've been wanting to try one out. Tried recommending it to a few people, but they haven't bit yet. Looking forward to a review on it - and you're right... This is $1500, but it's punching WAY above it's weight class.
-
Guru, here ya go. Notice that the small hole is only on the left side of the receiver... It's just the spring holder. The larger hole goes through both sides of the receiver, so that thing has to be machined straight...
-
No, it's not - you just need to thread it in more. You have to use something to push the button in, all the way, in order to thread the catch into the button more. Otherwise, the catch just hits the left side of the receiver, and you won't get it thread in far enough. When that happens, you don't have enough spring pressure on the catch to hold the magazine properly. It's harder to do once the bolt catch is installed - because then you have to clear that, too. I use a fat punch to push them in, and spin that mag catch more. AR15 mag catches work just fine in 308ARs. You just don't thread them all the way into the button like an AR15 - because the receiver is wider on a 308AR.

Exactly why I recommended it. I've got one BFG Vickers padded sling, on a 16" precision 5.56 gun, and I like it - but it doesn't lock as solid as the V-TAC does. The BFG slides and adjusts well - but the V-TAC locks in position better. You'll need to train with the cuff - it's not as easy as just throwing it on and running and gunning. It takes some getting used to. Nothing will lock up more solid, though...
