need your recommendation/s for muzzle options
98Z5V replied to AR-Sniper's topic in Accurizing the .308AR
I've shot a 24" barrel 300 Win Mag with the APA Fat Bastard on it, and MAN does that thing work! I'd be interested in trying out the Beast brake, for sure! -
They'll be out there in the Fall Shoot.

^^^ Both those vids were on the 100 yard target. Both of 'em. I was shooting the Mk12 with the AAC Brakeout muzzle device, and I'm surprised it works that well at night. Kudos to AAC on that beast. Matt was on his Mega .308, and blew the steel target frame apart with the rapid-fire hits to the steel plate. The metal target frame literally jumped apart... I know Mike still has vids of the 435 yard target night shoot... Somewhere on that phone!...
-
I had to get these vids uploaded and posted... Mike could probably upload these straight from his phone right to youtube, but he's challenged...

I remember all those PS Magazines... A monthly cartoon mag of preventative maintenance info... https://www.google.com/search?q=US+Army+PS+Magazine&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwj22OjQlJnTAhUKzmMKHbySCJUQ_AUIBygC&biw=1252&bih=602

EXCELLENT WRITE UP, BROTHER!!! However, as you stated, Darkness was already upon us. With Darkness, comes Treachery...
-
Yep, I sorted that batch out a few weekends before you guys came out, and loaded up 200 of them for that specific shootfest. I love the fat bastards.

I've run the 178gr HPBT Match projectiles, and those things ROCK!!! Very, very similar to the 178 ELDs, with the HPBT having a BC of 0.530. I ran them in Hornady Match brass, CCI 200 primers and 41.4gr of RL-15 powder. Damn things were very accurate out to the max distance shot, and that was 660 yards. I'll stick with them for the distance ranges.
-
Sweet!!! At the end of that at 5:58, is stated... Filmed and Directed by STU THOMSON. Stompin Stu was a legendary badass old-school BMXer in the late 70s and early 80s.

Damn, I DO need a couple pairs of those pants!!!

You fuk this one up and you're just done...
-
Fuk, I'd risk it. I've done WAY SCARIER SHIIT from helicopters. Try Fastroping from the back of a fuckin' MH53... The rope goes out the back at a 45* angle - with about a 2 foot gap from the back of the ramp, to where the rope is anchored. "Leap Of Faith" doesn't even begin to describe it, if you're the first man on the rope... ^^^ That's a good pic to show the relative distance from ramp end to rope anchoring gantry point. Except, that dude is already on the rope - and it's fukkin' SHORT! Fast Ropes come in lengths of 60 ft, 90 ft, and 120 ft. When that bird is 60 feet off the ground, the rotor wash is 100mph on the ground - that blows the rope right out the fukkin' back... That shiit sucks... I did it twice... The first time, I couldn't believe I was dumb enough to do it, and was the lead roper. The second time, I CONFIRMED that I was a dumbass for doing it the first time... I'd take this helicopter job in the video in a heartbeat. That shiit HAS to pay WAY BETTER than my previous helicopter work!

On that note, ... Two is one, and one is none. You ALWAYS need a backup when the primary fails...
-
I wondered if anyone would catch that... You don't want pics of the chicks - most are hot, most are crazy, and I fucked up a few relationships. The normal ones didn't make the cut, but would have been better for me...

Well, IF you fly into El Paso/Juarez, Larry will have to drive from Deming EAST to get to Juarez, snatch your ass up, then start driving WEST again to get to us. Not by a couple miles, either. I remember my drives from Sierra Vista to El Paso being 305 miles. To the east. I now live 161 miles to the WEST of Sierra Vista. Y'all fuckers would be on the road for a minute... HOWEVER, if it's several bucks cheaper to fly there over flying to PHX, then it's worth it - since Larry has to drive his a$s over here anyway...
-
Hell yes, brother! I was a little worried about your lack of pics by this time of night... You know, just sayin'... I thought you might have had your dik stuck in the can!

When I bought the scope, I just bought the Primary Arms extended AR mount for it - the one recommended on the scope page when you buy the scope. Don't exceed 15 IN/lbs on those scope mount caps!!! That's INCH/pounds, NOT foot/pounds!!! I like it alot, and won't change it out. I can get the eye relief I need, it's solid, and it doesn't weigh a ton. I usually migrate towards American Defense mounts, and I was in a budget constraint to get that damn thing done, and that's why I got it. After mounting it up (and reading their mounting instructions), I like it, and see zero reasons to change it out. Details in here: For iron sights, I used the MagPul Offset sights for the first time, and I love the little bastards. I can see this costing me alot of money in the future, and changing over all my magnified-optic rifles to these. They fuckin' ROCK...

Your AR-10 history would have started with an Armalite, or it's not AR-10 history. Read up on the use of "AR-10" and you'll see what I'm talking about. Aero Precision is excellent for use on a .308 AR build. If you want to run a collapsible stock setup, use Armalite-genuine AR-10 Carbine parts for it (the receiver extension, and buffer spring). For a buffer in that system, any - ANY - AR15 Carbine H3 buffer will work. Welcome aboard.

Fuk, that's a hot load! 48 grains of anything in a .308 Win case is alot of powder, and that split in the case is a sign of excessive pressure. Get pics of the primer and post them up. Those primers are gonna be flat as hell. STARTING load with 150s and CFE223 is 42.4gr fpr 2300fps, and Max load is 49.6gr at 2800fps. 48.2gr would have you at 2700 fps with that projo, and you've been pushing that for 5 loads. Back that charge off, big time, or that brass will never last. EDIT - Something is gonna blow up, and right now it's the brass. That barrel chamber is only gonna take SO much of that shiit, and then it's gonna give up. When that happens, that gun is coming apart - in your hands, with your face all pressed up close to the receiver... EDIT #2 - those powder numbers I gave you are identical from the last two Hornady load manuals, and they make the bullet. That's from 9th and 10th Editions... That's my general range bullet for .308 Win, and my primary bullet for 300BLK, so I load it alot...

All I need now is the barrel, DWilson 5.56 BCG, MechArmor charging handle, and the optic. Shiit, it's almost done already! The lower was FREE. I'll get to that story...

I could see that working. I was talking about one of these, though. With a torque range of 30~80lb/ft for a barrel nut, you don't need a torque wrench. That's a pretty broad range to hit...
-
His first pistol run... DAMN! He snatched that thing up, had it loaded, had target acquisition and fired rounds SO FUCKING FAST!!!...
