That was all you, man - you're the one that caught it in the first place. Beers to you.
-
It has to be a DPMS G2 upper. And that target you posted is NOT shot from 500 meters. 50 meters, okay. That's not from shots taken on that paper from 500 meters.
-
MikeD, you need to link up with Barrett, in this thread below, and sell him your upper receiver... I'm just sayin'...

Damn good lookin' out, guys!

There's only 2 Kahles scopes that max at x24. The 624i and 624i MOAK. The MOAK is in MOA, the 624i in Mils. Adjustments on those turrets are 1/4 MOA on the MOAK, and 1/10th Mil on the other. 1 Mil at 100 yards is 3.6 inches, so the 624i is gonna move you 0.36 inches per click at 100 yards. Times that by 5.5 for your 550 yards, and each click moves you 1.98 inches - for each click. Now, the MOAK... 1/4 MOA is roughly 0.25 inches at 100 yards, x 5.5... just over1.4 inches, per click. So, you said you adjusted it a couple clicks, and were on, but your target group moved 1 inch down... Each click would move you more than an inch. Your (approximate) shot group size is 1/2" x 1/2", which would be about 1/10th MOA shooting, at 500 meters, or 550 yards. I think your stated 500m target is BS. That wasn't shot at 500m. Just come clean about it.

Jesus, dude, where have you been? Long time, no see...
-
broadbillodin, what scope is on that rifle?
-
Looks to be 1" squares based on those .30-caliber holes from his 30-06. 500m, so about 550yards, and looking like 1/2" spread, MAX... I'm thinking bullshiit. Maybe I'm incorrect.

That buttstock is hideous... That would get swapped right away...

If you purchased this rifle, right here ^^^, you would have the advantage of the free-floated handguard. You'd sacrifice the triangular handguard look, but the trade-off is worth it. Then, you add TWO parts, and you've got the look you're after. I'd recommend the Armalite EA5050 detachable carry handle, but it's out of stock EVERYWHERE, and not looking good for availability. So... the DPMS equivalent. Finally, add the Armalite clamp-on fixed front sight base. Bingo. Done.
-
First, that's not the G2 from DPMS. They haven't made a G2 with that old-style Hi-Rider upper receiver. That's an old-school LR308 configuration. That upper receiver isn't going to align with any kind of triangular front sight base, to give you the look you're after.

I saw the 10 BA Stealth today, in .308 Win. It was marked at $1,050, no tax... Tempting, but I don't need ANOTHER .308 bolt gun...
-
They made a big one, too - in 300 Win Mag and 338 Lapua Mag... http://www.savagearms.com/firearms/model/110BAStealth

Looks like Savage is stepping into the precision rifle arena: .308 Win and 6.5C http://www.savagearms.com/firearms/model/BAStealth

We might be gettin' somewhere, men! Hill Republicans try to ease purchase of gun 'silencers,' as NRA-backed Trump arrives http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2017/01/15/hill-republicans-try-to-ease-purchase-gun-silencers-as-nra-backed-trump-arrives.html Published January 15, 2017 FoxNews.com Congressional Republicans are trying to change federal guns regulations to make buying a silencer, or suppressor, easier. But critics don’t agree with the argument that the proposed legislation is a safety measure to prevent hearing injuries. The Hearing Protection Act, introduced earlier this week in the GOP-controlled House and Senate, if passed, would still require a background check to buy a silencer, which muffles or suppresses more than silences the sound of a shot. However, buyers would no longer have to pay a $200 fee or wait for months after filing extensive paperwork with the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. “I’ve been shooting since I was a young child -- beginning with plinking with a .22 rifle and dove hunting with my Dad. My hearing has been damaged because of gun noise,” South Carolina Rep. Jeff Duncan said Monday after introducing the bill in the House with Texas Rep. John Carter, a fellow Republican. “Had I had access to a suppressor, it may have protected me, as well as millions of other Americans, from this sort of hearing loss. This is a health issue,” Duncan continued. The National Rifle Association’s lobbying arm supports the measures, saying suppressors are “harmless and very rarely used in crime” and that the joint bill would end the “cumbersome and lengthy application process.” A similar measure failed in 2015. But supporters are optimistic this time with Republican Donald Trump set Friday to officially become president. They point to the NRA having endorsed Trump and Trump’s eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., a hunter, recently appearing in a promotional video for Utah-based SilencerCo. “I believe in American manufacturing. I love your product,” Trump says in the video, in which he also argues that European countries freely allow the accessory. “It’s a safety issue.” The GOP lawmakers say the bill aims to “cut through the red tape” of owning a suppressor and, if passed, would remove the accessory from the scope of the National Firearms Act. They also say it would replace the “outdated” federal application process with the “instantaneous” National Instant Criminal Background Check. The bill calls for a refund of the $200 transfer “tax” for applicants who purchased a suppressor after Oct. 22, 2015, the original date of introduction. Critics point to a February 2013 situation in which fired Los Angles police officer Christopher Dorner killed four people in a series of attacks over 10 days that targeted law enforcement officials. They argue the fatal attacks might have been stopped earlier had Dorner not been using silencers. “There’s no evidence of a public health issue associated with hearing loss from gunfire,” Kristin Brown, of the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence, told The Los Angeles Times. “There is evidence of a public health crisis from gun violence, and we think that’s where legislative efforts should be directed.” The bill is being introduced in the Senate by Idaho Sen. Mike Crapo, and its co-sponsors include fellow GOP Sens. Rand Paul, Kentucky, and Jerry Moran, Kansas.
