  1. 175 SMKs have a great reputation on-target, downrange. Projectiles don't "disintegrate" mid-flight unless they're fired from a barrel that has too much twist, for too light of a projectile. They just DON'T. Best example I can give you is shooting a 36-gr 5.56 varmint load from a 1:7 twist 5.56 barrel - it'll disintegrate shortly after barrel-exit. Heavy projectiles don't disintegrate - they won't stabilize if the twist is too shallow - and they'll keyhole, You need to search out more on projectile weights vs. twist rate, before you try to speak on this subject with any authority - because you don't know what you're talking/posting about...
  2. There's some kind of bullshitt on "number of replys per day" going on. I hope that gets un-fucked. It's bullshiit.
  3. Why would you suspect that? Interested in your rationale on that one.
  4. Those are Armalite AR-10 numbers, and they're slightly off the real numbers - where did you get those numbers from? And, is your recoil system complete, 100% Armalite AR-10 Carbine recoil system parts? 7.75" internal depth of the receiver extension is off. #5 shows that you are NOT pushing the buffer off the retainer when the upper is closed on the lower. Classic symptom, and exactly what happens, when this does not occur.
  5. Hell, I don't either - I was just asking a question, based on what you posted. No pissing match here, not in the least - just want to make sure the information is accurate. You stated is made no difference, so I want to know the config on it. With just the shell, and zero inserts, you'll never feel much of a difference. Steel insert, a little difference, tungsten insert, bigger difference. I only want to know the config of you Tubb CWS, since you felt no difference, with or without. No spitting match whatsoever, man...
  6. Only YOU are the answer to that one...
  7. What information did you find out?... It's really seeming like you're holding us accountable for the information that YOU can't find from DPMS... EDIT - and you haven't called them yet...
  8. Those are the details that you need to give us, on your current configuration... Tell me how long your buffer tube is, internal length. Tell me how long your buffer is, and how much it weighs. Tell me how long your buffer spring is, and how many coils it has. Help me, help you...
  9. I think I responded to this in another thread - hit your other thread. Copy your OTHER post into this thread, man. Just quote yourself, on that one, and paste it here... That'll help alot...
  10. Thanks for your post in the intro section, so we know about you, and what you're looking for...
  11. This all falls back to DPMS - and you calling them for information. Furthermore, relaying that information to us, if you wish. I don't know why I'm getting that strange feeling that you're asking us this, like we owe you something?... Like we're to blame here?...
  12. I seriously think you need to call DPMS on this. Report your findings, and then we'll all know what gives.
  13. Thanks for the info - your username was jcw556, so I had to question what you were looking for...
  14. You didn't state 5.56 or .308 Win - what are you looking for? Here's the 5.56 version - backordered. You'll have to call Midway to find out what is going on... http://www.midwayusa.com/product/493749/dpms-ar-15-3g1-a3-upper-receiver-assembly-556x45mm-nato-18-barrel I think you need to call DPMS, since it's been available for two years. Phone:1-800-578-3767
  15. Why are you having a hard time finding one then?... You say it's been out for two years, but you can't find one. That's a search-engine issue, and not a 308AR.com issue, I'm thinking. Why can't you find a rifle that's been out for two years?...
  16. That's a 3-gun rifle - specific. They just announced it. Be patient.
  17. Sorry, Mike - God Speed to him.
  18. Need more information than that. What upper and lower receiver? Sounds like you're not getting the back of the bolt carrier to push the buffer OFF the retainer, when the upper is closed on the lower. It should do that... You'll probably see that the edges of your buffer are getting chewed up, too. Look at your buffer, and post pics of it. EDIT - this should have been it's own thread - a new topic. It's buried in a topic, as it is...
  19. Keep in mind - I'm not demanding information from you - you don't "owe" me an answer. But your statement that the Tubb CWS does nothing for the recoil impulse is why I posed the question that I did - when it directly impacts/affects the recoil impulse. It definitely does affect the recoil impulse. Reply, don't reply, either way is good with me, but the board could benefit from your honest answer.
  20. Welcome aboard - make sure you hit the reloading section: http://forum.308ar.com/forum/34-reloading/
  21. Try some standard processing on Federal M193 ammo, and see if you can seat primers without some serious work. Removing the crimp is tough to do, and really takes some work. When that junk is mixed in with other manufacturers brass, and you just ran through it in a standard manner, you'll waste alot of primers. Other choice - sort and segregate all your range brass, and sort the Federal M193 right out - then start processing brass. Know ahead of time that you'll need to work on the Federal primer pockets before you start wasting primers. It's odd that you can process alot of NATO 5.56 brass and not have to dig into the primer pocket too bad - and you rarely pinch the hell out of a primer. Until you get to the Federal stuff.
  22. That still didn't answer my question, Ben...
  23. On the day you got that video, it would have been very beneficial to shoot the gasport wide open, and again 3/4 closed, and compared those results. Instead, your comparing data from different shooting days, and those days have different weather data. I'm not sure you understood what he's saying - he's not saying that sound is the theory... he's telling you that your theory of closing the gasport seems solid...
  24. That one already comes with the threaded barrel, rotary magazine... Sweet! I'd say, toss the Nikon P-300 scope on it, an AAC Brakeout, and you're done, man! Damn, what an awesome combination!!! You'll be doing this before too long... Hell yeah!...
  25. They both suck to clean - but they're fun as hell to shoot!!!
