Guy drops dead in front of his family - bullet wound to the head.  That's senseless, and never should have happened...  Hope the police can trace this back to the original idiot.

Man Killed By Stray Bullet During New Year's Celebration

HOUSTON - A Houston man was killed by a stray bullet during a new year's celebration.

The man and his wife were watching fireworks with a crowd of people in the front yard, when he suddenly fell to the ground.

Detectives said a stray bullet struck him in his head.

Witnesses are saying that they didn't see anyone shooting a gun, and a lot of people didn't even realize what was happening until they saw the man lying on the ground.

They called 911 right away, but he died right there in the front yard.

Police are on the scene right now, trying to figure out the source of that stray bullet.

Fukkin idiots gotta shoot guns in the air at midnight, they do it every New Years! Those slugs have to come down somewhere. We popped people for that whenever we could catch them. We actually got a couple of holes in police cars during my 23 years! I don't let the family out of the house from about 11:50 to 12:30 because it used to sound like a war zone. The last few years it seems like it's dropping off here though.

out here in the boonies we used to shoot off firecrackers and bottle rockets, etc.,etc. now days the folks can't buy fireworks to shoot  so they break out the firearms and shoot up into the air. Did they learn that from the wars in Iraq and Ganastan?

I've been in a couple of different small countries during New Years where people were always afraid of going out after 11 due to exactly this type of thing.  People were dying every year in some areas from this kind of thing and owning guns wasn't even legal for the average person.

May God receive the victim well and Bless his wife, family and friends.

I used to hear gunfire all the time out here. Then they made crappy sparkler type fireworks legal and every one for the most part seems to have taken that as a fair game signal to buy bad ass mortars and rockets and shoot those off instead of guns. Thank God! My old hood in chandler we always found bullets laying around after new years and the fourth. Now I find pieces of fireworks instead. I think I only heard one mag get dumped on the mesa side of the freeway and that was it.
