Dale
I ordered 480 rds of NEW 308 168gr otm ammo and 500rds 38sp 125gr hp's... when it arrived the 38's were all on nickel cases, not a big deal as I have more brass 38 cases then I'll ever use... the problem was with the 308's... I ordered new ammo and it came in loaded on repurposed FC 75 vintage cases, 45 year old repurposed military cases is not new ammo... still had the lacquered primers and all, have no idea what powder was used... I ordered new to build up a stock of cases as I have no 308 cases at all... have never owned one before this, and I'm planning on reloading for this caliber... I called and let them know I was unhappy with their thoughts of what was new ammo... I took pictures and emailed them to customer service and was assured they would make things right... they sent me a return label for UPS and the ammo was shipped back... it's been 10 days since I was told they'd send out replacement ammo and to this day nothing has been shipped yet...has anyone else had any type of off the wall dealings with Freedom?... on previous orders I've had no problems with them... they were one of the people I've been using to build stocks of ammo for the 308 and 556... hope to be able to continue using them in the future... MikedaddyH
Freedom Munitions based in west Phoenix uses Dillion equipment and is an OK product. I shot some a while back. No problems, it all went bang !Another company in Mesa manufacturing ammo that I deal with at my other job (Can't talk about that, moral terpitute clause) makes a great product and sells it on Gunbroker. I will has to find a link to an auction and post it in the morning. Owner is cool and we traded business cards. Sonora ammo or something like that. jtallen83
I shot my best 200 yard group ever with Freedom 175 gr match remanufactured bought spring 2014. The last two batches I've got this spring have not been so good. Still cycle fine but the accuracy has not been there. The 9mm I got this spring had some real underpowered rounds in it, before that I had never had an issue. For now the only ammo I'll get from them is what I can trade range brass for. survivalshop
They could have been using pull down primed MilSpec ( or commercial ) brass for loading their Powder & Bullets . It would be all new never fired ammo components . Hard to say or as said , just remanufactured Ammo . The brass should be ok to reload , just Swage the Primer pocket if it has a crimped Primer . Dale
the Lewiston address is who I've been dealing with... got a call from them this afternoon, told me they had no more new ammo on hand... told them to send reman ammo and credit back the difference... hopefully we'll get this resolved quickly... Dale
well here it is 8 days and still no ammo... it has been shipped on the 14th and held up in Minneapolis for 34 hours.. I called UPS to inquire why the hold up and was told the shipment was on schedule, and that this was normal procedure... MY ASS... I worked in the transportation industry for 30 years and none of the companies I worked for would intentionally delay a shipment to keep it "on schedule"... I was told the time schedule was negotiated with the shipper, bullpoopy... if I'm paying the freight, the company has no rights negotiating a schedule for delivery that is longer then is normal... as from this point forward UPS and Freedom are both fired... I will no longer deal with anyone using UPS for any deliveries of my purchases... Fed EX or USPS are the only carriers I will deal with... if you can't accommodate me on these conditions, I'll take my business elsewhere... rant off... wetncold
I have shot 1,000's of handgun land 1,000 of their 5.56, all reman. Not the first problem so far. And their stuff is more accurate than a lot of big name stuff. I shoot their 230 gr 45ACP and all 3 weights of 9mm.
Dale
I hear ya there, a mile up the road and it would have been in my hands...I have shot 1,000's of handgun land 1,000 of their 5.56, all reman. Not the first problem so far. And their stuff is more accurate than a lot of big name stuff. I shoot their 230 gr 45ACP and all 3 weights of 9mm.I have no doubts about the quality of their work for the most part, but the use of 40 year old repurposed military brass and trying to pass it off as new ammo don't cut it... use new surplus if you're gonna do that not some crusty tarnished up old stuff... I bought up a batch of their blems a while back and that all came in on new commercial brass, was sort of hoping this would have been the same... jtallen83
I agree with your frustration. I never ordered any of their 308 stuff, but I was thinking of doing it.Don't! Due to some stuck case issues I ran the 4+ boxes of 308 remanufactured 175 gr. match through a case gauge, 1 out of 5 were either proud of the gauge or fell in to far with the neck sticking out the other end. On one case the whole rim stood proud. Freedom has obviously lost their quality control standards.

jtallen83
I heard back from Freedom munitions on the issues I have had with their ammo; "Dear Jim,We are very sorry for the issues you have experienced with our ammunition. We stand behind our ammunition and would like to make it right by you. I would like to bring the ammunition back and test it. I can either replace it or refund it which-ever you prefer. Here is the information I will need. How much ammunition is left overDate of incidentOrder #Lot # (will be on a sticker on the end of the box the bottom row of numbers)The head stamp informationWhat type of ammunition (ex. 9mm 115 gr)New or remanufacturedFor the weapon used I will need the following:What type of weaponAny pictures or video you have or can take will be very helpful.Thank youBrenda A"They didn't ask what the temperature was when I shot it anyway............. GRA
I regularly see 10-14 days on ammo shipments, UPS sucks............In my area they are FAR better than FedEx. Most employees at my local FedEx think packages are basketballs and they often lie about making an attempt to deliver when signatures are required. Cannot stand to have anything delivered by those clowns.

GreyGoose
Being as they are just down the road a piece from us here in Idaho I have ordered plinking ammo from them many times, 9mm, .40, .45, even some .45 long colt to shoot in my .454 Casul, several thousands of 223 both 55 and 62gr, and have 1K rounds of their 308 for my VTR just in case the world takes a $hit. Ha.Its all been eaten without any notable hiccups, and shipping has always been timely.Sucks you got a bum bunch Dale, I will have to run a little of that 308 just to see but I bought it a year or two ago so I'm sure its fine. After the X-Caliber thing I am hesitant to chime in as I am a fan of those guys too and JT had issues with them, but I hope, and I strongly suspect they will make it right. ;-) Edited September 29, 2015 by GreyGoose
Malig8r
I feel that it is very important for anyone who has had an experience with a company, good or bad, to be able to articulate it in a manner which is honest, easily understood, and relevant to the topic being discussed. This helps us all make well informed decisions. Keeping in mind that one instance is not always indicative of all experiences. It's the patterns that determine a company's character. jtallen83
Got things somewhat squared away with Freedom Munitions. I shipped back 66 rounds, the "refund' only included the rounds I shipped back and not the 120 in the order, they were unclear about that until they had the ammo in hand then sent me a credit of $49.69 from a $89.99 order. They had a miscommunication on their end so along with the credit they shipped me 80 rounds of the same ammo which I received today. I just gauged it all and everything passed, some were at the limits both upper and lower but all passed. I inspected each round closely, no cracks but some small defects on the rims, maybe 1 out of 20 like that. I for sure won't reload any of the brass, half of it is from the 60's so I have a little concern about age hardening. The bullet tips were in much better shape than the last order, only a few with slight damage.I used the credit to order 140 rounds of Fiocchi 223 69 gr. match and shipped them 39 pounds of Berdan primed brass for credit on the rest, they mention no cracked or dented brass but say nothing about Berdan primed so they can have it. They only give $1.80 a pound in credit so they should make it back in scrap.........I'm off to go shoot some of this last batch and see if the accuracy improved at all...........Edit; Shot 8, 5 round groups of the stuff and 4, 5 round groups of 7.62 FGMM as a control, all at 100 yards and alternating between brands after the first two. The best FGMM was just a hair under 1.2 MOA with the worst at 2 MOA. The best F.M. group was 1.45 MOA, next best was 2 MOA with the rest around 3 MOA. Freedom wasn't near as consistent as the FGMM at the same price per round when I originally bought them. Think I'm done messing with Freedom Munitions til I see reports of improvement. GRA
I've got some of their .223 ammo but have not fired it yet. I don't think I have any of the 7.62 from them. I haven't heard a whole lot of sensational stuff about them but then again I haven't really heard that much about them anyways. I'll take some to the range next trip and see what happens.
