IMG_20150715_202832608_HDR.thumb.jpg.dd3this what i have on this rifle, JD Machine upper/ lower, Criterion 18.5" match barrel, Elftmann single stage ( set at 4.5 lbs), DPMS bcg and a Millet TRS-1.  From this pix you can see Ive used different kinds of ammo, Lake City , GFL, FC and SSA. Is this the best i can expect from this rifle? Note this was shot at 100yds on sand bag rest. Another thing to note is my point of aim was on the "x"  center of diamonds.IMG_20151113_123813505.thumb.jpg.bf43b49

Some of these guns are picky about ammo weight. Light ones might suck, but then you move up to 168 or 175 and it tightens right up.

Also had a guy in here with a very high end build who was disappointed with his groups.  It was his first 308ar and after a few range sessions he became more comfortable with the gun and realized he was the problem, not the rifle.

Keep banging. try different ammo. You will find the sweet spot

The AR platform is capable of exceptional accuracy if tuned right. But then again most rifles are. Some shoot better with pressure on the barrel while most I have worked on shoot best free floated. The best way to achieve accuracy is ammo. That's why I handload for accuracy and not ballistic performance.

Approximately 100 rds down the pipe Fulton Armory says there barrels are ready to shoot w/o any break in.

Mossy   clean that barrel real good..... yes I see the targets now...and yes your groups suk....get you some privi match otm 168 gr...it shoots bout like federal gold medal match 168 or heck get you some gold medal match 168 and even some 175's....then on the other side of the scale....dont laff get you some federal 150 grain power shok soft point......try those ....at 100 you should be tight....you install your optics? and how?   could be you not doing your part

my buddy had a Rainier barrel that we both shot and couldnt get it to group...he sent it back...put the new one on and it grouped great....so it was the barrel

I have the same barrel, it dislikes anything lighter than 165gr projectiles. Buy FGMM in either the 168 or 175 grain weight, if that doesn't perform right you may need to focus on fundamentals.

Welcome to the forums BTW, glad to have you here.

I had to wait almost eight months before i got this barrel, thanks for the info I'll try heavier loads.

thanks for the info, I only reload 45 acp and 357 mag. I would have to reeducate for high end rifle loads. So are your handloads specific for your rifle only?

That barrel is going to be just fine...and if for any reason it's not, the Criterion guys are top notch and I'm sure they will take good care of you. Shake out all other options first, because IMO the barrel is probably your least likely spot for your current accuracy issue. As mentioned, be sure the optics are mounted solid. Shoot some heavier bullets.  Be sure the barrel but is torqued within specs. Let someone you think is a better shooter than you test it out when you've been through the basic checks...not the answer anyone wants to get, but sometimes we gotta check ourselves too. Might just take a little sweet talking to get her warmed up to you.

Welcome aboard.
