Looks like X-caliber has a one size fits all approach to gas ports, that pretty close to where mine started life.

Looking forward to seeing how yours groups, mine spreads a bit when the heat is on.

Glad you got back on this thread. After reading through yours that's exactly what I was thinking. Same size to begin with as what yours started with. Doesn't look like to much testing goes into there super secret gas ports, but hey what do I know ??

LOL I noticed I got a good laugh when they all jumped on that salesman on your thread.

I'm just glad you and the other guys got on here and had simimlar experiences to point me in the right direction. My first thought was it was under gassed just nice to know others had same issues before drilling into a new barrel.

Yeah I briefly read through it, I saw the x-caliber guy post and all you guys jumped on him, I got a good laugh outta it.

Just need to get a .308 bore sight and a bipod and I'll get this baby sighted in and get some grouping pics @ 100yds.

Duuuce no bore sight needed....heres the easy peasy way....get a gun cradle if you dont have one....get a bubble level for the top rail.....get one of these

 http://www.amazon.com/The-Segway-MKIII-Reticle-Leveler/dp/B00F42HGV0

go to your fence or some object 25 yds or whatever away and place a piece of tape....im using one of those round sticky circles about a lil smaller than a quarter that has been on my wooden fence for 2 years...I cant believe it stays on the fence....lol      put the rifle in the cradle mount the scope putting the bubble level on the top rail making sure the rifle is level and then using the segway and its bubble level to align the crosshairs....this is just to get the rings straight not  anything more..... okay so now take off the upper put it back in the cradle and look thru the rifle bore to the piece of tape or marker  you put on the fence...so you got the bore sighted to the marker now just lift up your head to the scope and check where it is.. not caring too much bout elevation its more bout windage as you tighten down the mount to the rail....as long as the windage is pretty much on the dot you will be gtg when you go to the range....this has never ever failed me on any caliber ar with any scope.....im always less than 5 inches off the bull at 50 yds on a new build        Wash

Very good info there Wash. I will have to try that. I have a bore sight for 5.56 and noticed that if I sight a scope in on one of my AR-15's since it is the same platform putting it onto the other rifle usually works pretty dang good, or I just throw the 5.56 bore sight bullet in the chamber of the .308 and leave the bolt locked back. It usually gets me close but I will have to try the way you mentioned and check it with the bore sight. Them damn lasers are so cheap anymore. I bought one off fleabay a couple days ago for $10.00. It's the actual bullet to. For that price I say what the hell.

I tried one of those bullet shaped laser bore sighting gadgets, it would trace a 12+ inch circle at 20 foot when you turned it in the chamber. I get way better results with my eyes, even with old eyes! The cat likes the laser though..........

Didn't have any better luck with the Bushnell bore-sight kit for multiple calibers, same 12+ inch circle when you turn it.

I generally level the scope and rifle with a cheap set of Wheeler bubble levels, and hang any old sighting in target on the living room blinds.  From about 20' away, dining room table, I can typically get a fix on that target shining a cheap-assed laser pointer ($5-6 at Office Depot, I think) down the bore.  Lining the scope up about 3" above the laser dot gets me damn close at 50, and sometimes not far off at 100 yards.  Takes a little screwing around, but it's close enough.    Too cheap to buy a gun cradle, but found I can pretty easily get things lined up using a couple of Jorgenson cabinet clamps.  Hey, it's a cheapskate's solution, and another alternative.  Windage you can get pretty much right on the nose.

I've done the eyeball thing per Washguy, and that works too, but not so much with my marginal eyeballs.

Holy sh!t, I never knew they could be that far off. I will definitely go by what Wash said. That's crazy a chambered bullet boresight could be off by that much!

Lol, I use a regular old bubble level on the top rail. I drew an X on my back wall with a piece of charcoal from the bbq grill and use an aluminum step ladder as a "cradle".  Add in a FFP mildot scope and you are zeroed in 3 rounds when you get out to the range.  Field(home?)expedient!

So Ive run out of $hit to do on a cold azz day....can you believe that the lil stickem dot has been on the fence for 2 years  LOL

ok so now the rifle is in the cradle bubble level on top rail...that makes sure rifle is true in cradle...now the segway has its bubble level make it true to scope while keeping rifle squared away....now you are truing up the reticle nothing more in the rings....true horizontal....okay the rings are done....now the mount bore sight deal....break down the upper put it back in the cradle.... look thru the bore to the dot on the fence...assuming you have the placement (eye relief) where you want it with the mount.its time to tighten down the mount  now look back to the scope and get it on the dot too...you are looking for windage more than elevation.....the windage  is what is going on with the mount as you tighten down....elevation will take care of itself at the range....use thumb pressure to get the mount true while you tighten down...i use the fatty torque wrench when messing with scopes....if you are anal you will put the segway back on and the bubble back on the top rail and look thru the scope again just to see if the crosshairs are still true....yes they will be

Go to the 50 yd range...and your first hit will be pretty ding dang close.....I usually go for bout a inch/ half inch low at fifty.... puts me real close for the 100 yd range bullseye

I shot my buddies .300 blackout. I also liked it since subsonic ammo was commercially available and a can is in my near future.

Since this thread is all ready off the tracks, here's a ?.  Could you run the same suppressor on a .300blk and a .308? Or would this be different

Yep;

There are more out there that will do a wide variety of calibers but I'm betting if it does it all it doesn't do any the best.

get used to it ;)

It was just nice jumping onto a forum with zero posts and not having everyone being a dick saying "use the search function this has been covered 100 times" If it has been covered 100 times then apparently I'm not typing in the right keywords lol A little help never hurts anyone.

Someone called...I swore I heard my name??  Would someone tell this guy there's a search function here!  It's almost as useful as the ones on other forums-me and search buttons don't get along.

As for thread jacking...we're all a bunch of kids with severe ADD. Doesn't matter 21 or 75...just a bunch of dumbass kids. We couldn't keep a thread on track if...well...if it were on tracks.
