Hey guys, so I am under the impression that ANY decent mil spec upper is fine, and pretty much the same uppers rebranded by a bunch of companies, but really only manufactured by a hand full.

With that being said, with this new 7.62/39 build, I am considering either going with Kak industries, since they made my bold and barrel, or Nordic, since I have been very impressed with them with my 22lr upper.

This one in particular.

So what is the general consensus? Just buy a Milspec lower as cheap as possible, or are there some actual differences between different companies?

Maybe I should just go Anderson/ AR stoner and save some bucks.

Sounds good! I might go with that AR stoner now that I think about it, because its cheap, and just kinda cool for what it is I guess.

I wont pay for a name I guess, but if two prices are the same, and one has "the name" I reckon Ill choose it, if all else is equal.

For an upper or lower? I built a .458 off the psa blem upper i grabbed 3 years ago for 30$ and an anderson lower for 40$ parts are where they get ya!

Sketch, a 458 pistol was my original plan!

I just decided that for what I want /39 would be a bit better.

BUT! That is gonna be a sweet build!

I know that PSA has a lot of good deals, but I am going to try to all together avoid them, forever, because I don't like them.

Cool bro by the by that is the pistol i need to sling? Pm when i figure colors! You wont be dissipointed with x39!! I shoot it more now cus its cheep ammo! 458 is $!

Yeah, the $ was the main reason for my decision for the /39.

I wanted a hard hitting pistol.

The 458 would DEFINATELY be a hard hitter, but this thought popped into my head... "/39 would hit pretty hard, and performs well from a short barrel... and is CHEAP"

And that was the end of my decision making. it was a virus in my head after that.

I figured even if the /39 was harder to get running right, I could afford to shoot the thing all day to figure it out.

If a 458 wasn't running right i would have a hard time pulling the trigger enough to get it figured out and running.

But the 458 still draws me... 45/70 in an ar... *drool

Have you thought about triggers yet? Did robo tell you that you need a hard hitter because of those thick primers? I went with the hyper fire 24c, hyperfire is what faxon recommended with their upper and I had seen recommended buy others with x39 ar's

I would imagine a ALG ACT would work also , uses std AR 15 Springs & only around $ 65 & the ones I have after break in , are around 5# break . Not as nice as a Hyper Fire , but much less $$$$ . There are a couple of ones like the ACT available now , Bravo co has one in the price range also.

Jacob, don't spend the extra bucks for the name, an upper is an upper is an upper and they all work the same! I've been using these recently and really like them;

I live in the desert southwest (dust, sand and frequent sandstorms) and the lack of a dust cover and forward assist has been no problem whatsoever.

That is a smoking price. I don't doubt that the dust cover and forward assist are over rated... but it just doesn't feel right to me.

Is it logical to pay extra money for that feeling? No

Will I do it... yeah.

But I am gonna stick to a cheap one however I go. Ill keep my eyes on slickguns ;-)

Yes , what ever makes you feel good , because the way I see it , if you don't & need it or wish you had it , it may come back to bite you . Or you may never need it & not even notice they are there or missing .:laffs:

Dude, your so right.

Lol

I figure if I never sell this gun and I spent an extra 40 for a dust cover and forward assist, I won't look back in 20 years and think... (man... I wish I saved that extra 40), but I have often thought (man, I wish I would have spent that extra 40)
