Can't put my finger on it.  To me, it has less kick than my buddy's lightweight Ruger M77 in .270.

Yeah , from that to the big loads that feel like a 30-06 out of a Springfield 03' with a brass recoil pad.

I may just be a sissy but my Winchester model 94 lever action being rapid fired unloading a magazine of heavies makes my shoulder hurt worse than my 03 3006 or the M1. Must be working the lever and the little steel backplate.

It's that nice straight grip on the '94 Winnie.  Noticed that on mine.

The pistol (curved) grip Marlin .30-30s don't feel like that.

I noticed that, the only Marlin Lever I shot was a long barreled 3030

The 30-30 is nothing compared to the 45-70 that 98 has. That hurts my shoulder thinking about it.

It's the projectile, brother.  405gr backed by the 50.0gr charge of powder.  Jon said it best - "That thing isn't firing bullets - it's throwing ingots!!!"  :laffs:

12ga Shotgun 1 oz slug (437.5gr) 1800fps - 3100 ft/lbs

45-70 (405gr) 1540fps with 45.0gr Imr 3031

45-70 (405gr) 2278fps with 50.0gr H4895 ,CCI LR

45-70 (400gr) 2002fps with 50.5gr H4198 , pressure 39,000cup

Three comparison loads of was 98 is doing to our shoulders and the average stotgun load.

I liked the 45-70 it's not a sharp kick like some of the bigger bore hunting rounds I've shot (I think my buddies 7mm with syn stock is the worse). The 45-70 is more of a shove, I want one know especially after flyer posted up Henery stainless ones

Exactly.  The newer ones are like getting hit with a hydraulic ram press.  That ol' .45-70 is just like getting kicked by a horse.

Mike, my load is with IMR 3031, at 50.0gr even, pushing that 405gr brick a little over 1700 fps.  We can't shoot these through a trap-door 45-70 rifle - we'll blow it up.

Well, got to use Mikedaddy's RRA 9mm with the Slidefire stock.  It performs very well!

So well in fact, Matt's S-E-G got bigger and bigger with each progressively faster mag dump.

They appear to be more affordable than the other options out there too.

You fukkers are really making me want a 9mm AR, and I don't even reload that stuff!:embarrassed:

And......if I do it it will have to be an SBR so there goes another $200 down the tube! And.....then I'm gonna want a can so there's ANOTHER $200 plus the cost of the can!

At bulk pricing, you don't need to reload that stuff. It's almost down to .22lr prices.
