Armed Eye Doc Posted January 14, 2017 Report Posted January 14, 2017 My wife is still looking for a comfortable carry gun. She held a Walther CCP and like the way it felt. I have not seen one in person yet. Does anyone have any experience with one of these? How does it shoot?
planeflyer21 Posted January 14, 2017 Report Posted January 14, 2017 Great! Certainly one of the most under appreciated pistols on the market today. The only real drawback is magazines are expensive. Just get it out of the way and get her a bunch all at once. The perceived recoil is very low on these pistols too, due to having a "gas-delayed blowback" action. That also requires more cleaning, say every 250-300 rounds. InRange has some video on the CCP, I'll see if I can find it.
planeflyer21 Posted January 14, 2017 Report Posted January 14, 2017 Found an update and the original review:
planeflyer21 Posted January 14, 2017 Report Posted January 14, 2017 (edited) Doc, I'll also add that if she likes this CCP she should look at Remington's new R51. It uses a Pederson action, also resulting in very low recoil and ease of slide manipulation. The advantage of the R51 is it has a truly ambidextrous magazine release. In 2014 Remington's QC was worse than sun-dried dog crap and they recalled the entire production run. It was re-released in 2016 and the reviews have been very good. 98Z5V Posted January 14, 2017 Report Posted January 14, 2017 Doc, have her check out the Walther CREED before she buys - new release from them, and looks to be very, very nice. Cheap, too, about $400. http://www.waltherarms.com/handguns/creed/
Armed Eye Doc Posted January 14, 2017 Author Report Posted January 14, 2017 Thanks for the replies. I will have her look at both of those.
blue109 Posted January 15, 2017 Report Posted January 15, 2017 Looks like the Creed is an updated PPX. getting pretty good reviews and solid gun for the price. if you had a little more to spend the PPQ is alot more gun. Awesome trigger, match barrel. I still love my P99. It's my soul-gun. Haven't found anything at any price I like better. Id run it against anything reliability wise. I have a PPS for deep concealment and it's great for that.
planeflyer21 Posted January 15, 2017 Report Posted January 15, 2017 Also Doc, should she like that R51, people are making aftermarket grip inserts for that in different woods and polymer colors.
Ben Diss Posted January 16, 2017 Report Posted January 16, 2017 I have a CPP and like it. However, with my large hands my thumb rests against the slide release button sometimes preventing the slide from locking back on an empty magazine. I need to develop an alternative grip for this gun. Not carrying it yet because of this.
Ken Posted January 22, 2017 Report Posted January 22, 2017 I bought a CCP for my girlfriend for a carry pistol and I love it so much I haven't given it to her yet. Ive had it for 10 months.....It's hard to part with it! I love it so much. I have a bad back and have had surgery a few times, fusion..... so I wear a back brace. The CCP tucks inside the wide waist band and is totally concealed when I carry it. I draw the tightening cords tight on the adjustable brace and it is held in place and never moves. It is very concealable in many positions, even inside the pant line on a small holster wearing a sweatshirt.
Armed Eye Doc Posted January 27, 2017 Author Report Posted January 27, 2017 Thanks for all of the input on the CCP. It's a woman's right to change her mind so I hear. This was the end result of her decision process. It's a Kimber Ultra Crimson Carry II. It's got the Cylon eye.
sketch Posted January 27, 2017 Report Posted January 27, 2017 Haha you are bad doc, you talked he into that... and as you should! Good choice.

She has liked the Kimber 45 since she shot my brother's last year. I actually didn't have to do much talking. Besides, I won't get to carry it since she will have it all the time.
Sisco Posted January 27, 2017 Report Posted January 27, 2017 Nice! maybe she will let you shoot it every once in a while.

I'm a fan of that choice!!! Personally, I have a Stack of Kimbers...
mineralman55 Posted January 27, 2017 Report Posted January 27, 2017 Doc, I looked one over at a local range, very nice fit and finish, felt right in the hand. But the deal breaker was the key necessary to field strip it. I don't want any weapon that requires a special tool to take down. Just my opinion.

mineralman55 Posted January 27, 2017 Report Posted January 27, 2017 I'm sure it would. Just not my cup of tea. Besides, there are so many other well designed Walthers that I wouldn't bother with the CCP unless it had a killer price.

And it really was her choice, not that I minded though. Edited January 28, 2017 by Armed Eye Doc
