Update:

Swapped out the gas block to and adjustable one, turns out I did not have a .025 gap at the barrel shoulder on the last gas block according to the instructions, feel like that would be a critical step? At the range, adjusted the gas low enough to cycle the round, now the spent cases eject forward to about the 2 o'clock position. I did lube it thoroughly as directed in your picture of that critter covered in lube. I did a double tap a few times for good measure and it did a double feed on me as it did in the video

Whats next? Heavier buffer?

Just an FYI

Many lowpro gas blocks are designed to sit against the shoulder these days on the assumption that you are using a free-float rail. Always good idea to measure just to be sure if the manufacturer doesn't specify.

If you have a dimpled barrel and a set screw gas block it might be easier to check. The screw hole for the gas block SHOULD line up with the port, and the dimple in the barrel SHOULD be exactly opposite of the gas port. The port in the block should be big enough to function even with slight misalignment

I would say most Barrels are not made to Have the Hand Guard Cap in there , unless it has a A2 sight or the Tapered slots for the Tapered pins are there. I put every Gas Block up against the Gas Block stop or shoulder on the Barrel . Its not that much & should not matter with most well made Gas Blocks , because the Port hole in the Block is normally larger then the Barrels Gas Port , to compensate for the HG Cap not being there .

One can always measure for proper Gas Port alignment .

The Faxon 10.5 inch 300 BO barrel I used required my SLR block to be spaced off the shoulder a couple credit cards or so. One of those "your mileage may differ " things.

jtallen83 , any Barrel you get is suspect & not one the rest of us would necessarily get . :lmao:

That also may be with the Gas Block Manufacturer Spec's.

Same manufacturers block went against the shoulder in a BA barrel but that one had a dimple.

I do seem to get more than my share of gas port R&D time!

Geissele Super Gas Blocks go all the way against the shoulder.   I've got a few more, can't remember the brands, that go against the shoulder.

Update:

Replaced every part that could be considered culprit, the last being a JP extractor, same results. On a whim I checked headspace, closes fully on both go and no go gauges. So obviously thats bad, sent an email to Red X Arms where I bought it from telling them my problem, hopefully they stand by their product. Did a few google searches for reviews on that company, looks like other have had the same challenges as me. I like the look of the barrel, and haven't found a suitable replacement if I need to go that route. Suggestions?

Red x has a pretty bad reputation. a step above blackthorne, but still not great.

Read that more than once, of course after I bought the barrel. May just write it off as a paid lesson, buy some better stuff next go around
