My First 308 Build (Progress Thread)

So, I'm starting off my first .308 build.  Because I'm excited I thought I'd start a thread to share and post my updates.  Plus, I just like sharing my pictures.

Got a CMT .308 builder's set in FDE not long ago.

Offered a slightly used Rainier Arms 16" Ultra Match barrel and it came this week.

Brake should be coming tomorrow.
Not sure what all parts I'll end up using just yet.  There are a few I know I'll end up with.  LMT BCG, adjustable gas block (not sure which), hoping the 308 FCD bolt catch comes out soon.

I've got some cheapo scopes. I'll try it with one of them.  I'm still hesitant to put anything high end in the oven.  I've asked some applicators about it and the response was the same. "I can do it but I'm not responsible for your scope."

Licenced Cerakote applicator called Vortex, they told him baking does not void their warranty.

Cerakote doesn't bake over 200, but 160 should suffice....

It bakes at 170 just fine.  Extend the time in the manual. Twice. :laffs:

There's a bunch of different cure times for the H-Series.  Bottom line is experiment, and get your own times down.  The stuff in the Guide is great, and accurate, but if you're baking something "weird," then know what you're doing ahead of time, and adjust accordingly.   If you don't wanna bake it, just use the C-Series.
