imxelite
Hi Guys, I'm new to the forum but since I was about to pull the trigger on an AR 10 I figured I better check in to make sure I wasn't make a bad decision. I was looking for a AR10 to have some fun with at my outdoor range. My budget for it was around $800 which right now only gave me two options the DPMS Oracle AR-10 16" or the PSA PA10 18" Midlength SS. I've read horror stories with the PSA but that seemed mostly aimed at the gen 1 so I'm not sure if all of the issue have been corrected in gen 2. Just looking for some advise on which gun would be the better option? Thanks in advance!!
jtallen83
Go with the DPMS, shoot it for awhile then decide if it needs any upgrades for your use. They are having a rebate program right now; http://www.dpmsinc.com/rebates
Robocop1051
Definitely go with the Oracle. +1 to what JT said.
imxelite
Thanks guys! I didn't know there was an rebate on the Oracle as well. Makes this decision even easier.
shepp
Yes go with the oracle it's a good blank canvas, BUT as you go to upgrade it drop the AR10, you'll run into issues getting certain parts for it. An Ar10 is made by armilite and a different pattern. Good luck with your new purchase!!! And welcome to the forum!!
Sisco
The DPMS Oracle 308 AR is a good place to start. Not AR10- a 308AR. To get an AR10 you go to Armalite.
mrmackc
I have a DPMS Oracle LR308 and got it for a good price at a LGS .The rifle a 308 4 -18 power BDC scope mounts, and a Mech Armoury trigger and CH sling, swivel. cost me less than $1100. Check around the local shops for really good price. Lube it up really wet and break it in like the LR308 manual says. Get familiar with the assembly and function. Then do some mods. Trigger, glass, CH and you can have a good shooting.308 Edited May 23, 2017 by mrmackc
imxelite
So I went into my local shop to set up a FFL transfer for the DPMS and they were trying to get me to buy a Delton Echo 308. I've never heard of it and looking online I don't a ton of reviews such as with the DPMS. Are they on the same level as far as part availability and reliability? Price wise they are the same. jtallen83
DPMS has a much longer track record of no issues. Delton is pretty new to the large frame game so it may be a great one or it may be another PA10 Gen I.

I would use the same description but the part of the system that squeezes the trigger makes that a fiction.
survivalshop
Just now, EngrBob said: I would use the same description but the part of the system that squeezes the trigger makes that a fiction. Just because the rifle is , doesn't mean the shooter is or is required to be at that level .
surftrybe
OP - check out DelTon's new offering the Echo .308. Just like with any DPMS patterned 308, you can always upgrade. Got mine for $680 shipped. And now it's upgraded to this. Edited May 26, 2017 by surftrybe

surftrybe
Shepp - My wallet sure hopes not. I will admit I feel like I did dive into an unknown pool. But, I guess someone has to be first. I've owned and shot factory builds from Armalite and Windham. And owned and shot a couple of franken builds. Im not a high end factory built fan. Seen enough of them at the range, all my previously owned .308 platforms hit what I aimed at and went bang every single time. But then my purpose is strictly a shtf option for out to 200 yards. So low end price range with a few mods achieves that purpose all day long.

We saw a lot of guy come in here looking for help be cuz their gen 1 pa10's were literal paper weights, and no "tech support" really to be had. There was a lot of negative talk on the post because of that. Well the post drew in ALOT of new members whom bought pa10 gen 2 rifles seemingly loving them and their operation, enough so that we made a pa10 section in our manufactures section so this happens to be one of the first post I can remember delton being mentioned and BOOM here you are, again welcome. I can't say anything bad because I don't know about them. My buddy has built to ar15's with their parts, but there you have a milspec to follow. I'm glad your happy with your rifle enjoy the forum Edited May 26, 2017 by shepp
