Bkolar81 Posted July 21, 2017 Report Posted July 21, 2017 Gents, I am really wanting to put a polished stainless barrel on my new .308 build but I am having a hard time finding options. I am planning to run an 18 inch with a mid length gas system. Give me some recommendations. Price really isn't an issue.
sketch Posted July 21, 2017 Report Posted July 21, 2017 what patern are you using dpms or ar10 or other? quick serch showed rainer arms but not polished ( shiny) maybe give any manufacturer a call and see if they can polish one?
survivalshop Posted July 21, 2017 Report Posted July 21, 2017 Criterion or Fulton Armory . You want something like this , below .
Bkolar81 Posted July 21, 2017 Author Report Posted July 21, 2017 I will be going DPMS pattern. I bought the July builders kit from Aero Precision that is cerakoted to look like a flag in a parchment color. I want it to be a great looking gun but also function just as good as it looks. I have been looking at JP but I can't find any or their nickel boron bolts that have forward assist.

Bkolar81 Posted July 21, 2017 Author Report Posted July 21, 2017 Maybe I could use the JP barrel and the Fail Zero nickel boron BCG.

Bkolar81 Posted July 21, 2017 Author Report Posted July 21, 2017 Thanks! I will take a look. 2 hours ago, jtallen83 said: Fulton sells a very nice BCG that is just like the JP high pressure but much less money. Thanks! I will take a look.

I am more inclined to use a Nitrated BCG anymore , but have a Chrome & NIB BCG 's that are working fine in the 308AR . Fulton Armory & Criterion Barrels are made for the DPMS pattern 308AR .http://www.fulton-armory.com/barrelfatitan185nmmedss1x10936gasblock.aspx JP's Barrels are Good Here are some more to look at , http://www.jsesurplus.com/308.aspx
Bkolar81 Posted July 21, 2017 Author Report Posted July 21, 2017 I kind of dig the looks of this one. Anyone have any experience with Wilson arms barrels? http://www.jsesurplus.com/18WilsonArms308Hbar1x10FlutedStainlessSteelStripped.aspx
survivalshop Posted July 21, 2017 Report Posted July 21, 2017 The Rule ! If no one has experience with this Barrel & can give a review , with in a certain time limit , you have to purchase it & give us a review . Just a way to have fun with new guys, kinda like entrapment , if you would have kept it to "I kind of dig the looks of this one." you would of been OK Looks good to me .
Bkolar81 Posted July 21, 2017 Author Report Posted July 21, 2017 Gotcha. I guess I can be a guinea pig.

They all excel, to a great degree. They are phenomenal barrels. Most of you bastards that show up for the AZ Shoots have shot them... Edited July 22, 2017 by 98Z5V

Bkolar81 Posted July 22, 2017 Author Report Posted July 22, 2017 Thanks 98Z5B! I am very much considering the Wilson Arms barrel. It's a poop load cheaper than the JP and I like the looks of the fluting.

Bkolar81 Posted July 22, 2017 Author Report Posted July 22, 2017 I went ahead and ordered that Wilson arms fluted barrel. We will see how it works out. Thanks for all the help!

Bkolar81 Posted July 23, 2017 Author Report Posted July 23, 2017 I will give a review when I am all finished with the build. Now that the barrel I ordered the focus moves to a BCG and Gas system.
98Z5V Posted July 23, 2017 Report Posted July 23, 2017 I will say, in current-governmental terms... "Full Disclosure..." - all my Wilson Arms barrels are .223 Wylde chambers, 1:8" twist, and shoot the damn lights out. They're not .308 Win barrels. They are the 16" midlength precision gun built on Spike's Tactical billet ambi receivers, the Mk12 Mod 0 rifle, and the Woody.
