How much are you willing to spend?

:laffs:

Weight depends on whats used to build it in that model , I would say normally anywhere between  8 - 12 # , the Barrel is most of it . There are some here building a lot lighter then 8#& of course more then that 12# figure also .

Thank you survival shop I figured that it would be around 10 or more I just pined the upper to my lower and added my scope from my 223 and when I went to pick it up it seemed like a ton,  i do not have a good scale just the one in the bathroom that you stand on ,I guess  I could stand without the 308 take my weight then pick up the weapon and take the weight again

Hi all just a question probably been asked before what should the weight of a AR10 or similar weapon system be weighing in at, with scope, tripod ,30 round mag fully loaded

I have no idea on that, but a tripod HAS to be heavy!   I don't know of that many 30-rd mags, either, but 25s are common now.

A 20-rd P-Mag loaded with 175s weighs 2lbs.  My 18.5" gun weights 12.75lbs with scope, no mag loaded.  No bipod attached.

Dam I guess that mine being in the 11- 12 range is what I can expect, I guess a good comfortable sling is needed for sure if I plan on taking it on long trips, 98Z5V your right, I meant 20 round mag not 30 I was thinking of my 223 30 round mags. When I went to lift it after installing the scope it weighed a ton without the front tripod and loaded magazine so that is why I asked the question thank you for the reply

What are you using it for? I've built between 6.7 and 13 lb .308 autos. Long range gun will usually be heavier.

1 good rule to live by when building ARs is: light, tough, cheap...pick 2.

I dumped the bipod on my 16" AR10 T and it really helped the balance. It weighs in at 12 lbs even loaded. My AR10 rifle has a larger scope, a thinner but longer (20") barrel, and a bipod and weighs 12.9.  Unless I want to spend time in the weight room and start running marathons, I don't want them any heavier.

I have to get a mlok to picatinny rail mount so I can mount the tripod, my boy said he has one to send me,as soon as I get that and mount the tripod I'll weigh the beast and send pictures, I will use this 308 for hunting pigs and target practice along with my 223
