Going to compare it to the 98 special I have Once upon a time, I ordered some high-dollar cartridge case resizing lube from Herters. 4ounces was $5. I had been helping one of our chemist evaluating a new oil used in a wireline grease pressure unit. We were testing some Texaco products. One was 140 wt. Multi purpose gear lube. My new case lube smelled, looked and poured exactly like the 140 wt. Had the chemist run a comparison yes and guess what? Well the $5 per 4oz. stuff actually was Texaco 140 wt. $12 per 5 gallon gear grease. The Lucas gun oil may be the same way. I use 140 wt. for a lot of lube problems, it works just as well as some very high dollar stuff. Edited August 29, 2017 by mrmackc
Malig8r Posted August 29, 2017 Report Posted August 29, 2017 When it comes to grease for firearms usage I like TW25B.
bubbas4570 Posted August 30, 2017 Report Posted August 30, 2017 I found that Weapon Shield CLP is doing more than just fine for me. My Ad's run longer with this than any other lube I have tried, save regular old high temp bearing grease....it is just not quite as messy. Even the vaunted Slip2000 did not even come close to living my B6P for any extended period as the Weapon Shield did. For example, I cannot say exactly how long before my last training session I had cleaned and lived my pistol, but it was done with Weapon Shield CLP. I ran 635 rounds through the pistol at training, and I want to say at least another 100 previously + carrying wh3never possible with 0 failures due to pistol/lube (drying slide, dragging, etcetera). It is a dirty pig, but still runs, and functions just fine, thank you! And yes, so do have a bottle of Lucas gun oil on my shelf also. It faired no better than the Slip2000 in my testing. It is now regulated to lubing tools and such on my bench.
bubbas4570 Posted August 30, 2017 Report Posted August 30, 2017 Fuquing phone.....firefox app screwed up/locked up while I was trying to fix my auto corrected bs in my post. The Ad's is supposed to be AR's. And living or lived is supposed to be lubing or lubed. And the damn thing is still trying to autocorrect me... A
98Z5V Posted August 31, 2017 Report Posted August 31, 2017 This will get snatched up and run through the oil tester device from hell. I'll let you guys know how it compares.
blue109 Posted September 2, 2017 Report Posted September 2, 2017 Like when Fireclean tried to sue TFB for outing them as common vegetable oil. Man that was amusing.
unforgiven Posted September 3, 2017 Report Posted September 3, 2017 That 98 mystery earl is like honey
First Sergeant Posted September 6, 2017 Report Posted September 6, 2017 I'm pretty simple about it. Have used Lucas and it's not bad.
